1 And Iehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, but he was ioyned in affinitie with Ahab.
1 Ora, Josafá tinha honra e riquezas em abundância, e uniu-se em parentesco com Acabe.
2 And after certaine yeeres he went downe to Ahab to Samaria: and Ahab slew sheepe and oxen for him in great nomber, and for the people that he had with him, and entised him to goe vp vnto Ramoth Gilead.
2 E depois de alguns anos ele desceu até Acabe em Samaria. E Acabe matou ovelhas e bois em abundância para ele, e para o povo que ele tinha consigo, e o persuadiu a subir com ele até Ramote-Gileade.
3 And Ahab King of Israel saide vnto Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Wilt thou goe with mee to Ramoth Gilead? And hee answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people, and wee will ioyne with thee in the warre.
3 E Acabe, rei de Israel, disse a Josafá, rei de Judá: Irás tu comigo para Ramote-Gileade? E ele lhe respondeu: Eu sou como tu és, e o meu povo como o teu povo; e nós estaremos contigo na guerra.
4 And Iehoshaphat sayde vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsel, I pray thee, at the worde of the Lord this day.
4 E Josafá disse ao rei de Israel: Rogo-te que consultes a palavra do SENHOR hoje.
5 Therefore the King of Israel gathered of Prophets foure hundreth men, and sayde vnto them, Shall we goe to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I cease? And they sayd, Go vp: for God shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.
5 Portanto, o rei de Israel reuniu os profetas, quatrocentos homens, e disse-lhes: Devemos nós ir a Ramote-Gileade para batalha? Ou, devo me refrear? E eles disseram: Sobe; porque Deus a entregará na mão do rei.
6 But Iehoshaphat sayde, Is there heere neuer a Prophet more of the Lord that wee might inquire of him?
6 Todavia, Josafá disse: Não há aqui um profeta do SENHOR além desses, para que possamos consultá-lo?
7 And the King of Israel sayd vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whome wee may aske counsell of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophesie good vnto me, but alway euil: it is Michaiah the sonne of Imla. Then Iehoshaphat said, Let not the King say so.
7 E o rei de Israel disse a Josafá: Há ainda um homem, por quem podemos consultar ao SENHOR; mas eu o odeio; porque ele nunca profetiza o bem para mim, mas sempre o mal; este é Micaías, o filho de Inlá. E Josafá disse: Não fale o rei assim.
8 And the King of Israel called an eunuche, and said, Call quickly Michaiah the sonne of Imla.
8 E o rei de Israel chamou um dos seus oficiais, e disse: Buscai rapidamente Micaías, o filho de Inlá.
9 And the King of Israel, and Iehoshaphat King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne clothed in their apparel: they sate euen in the threshing floore at the entring in of the gate of Samaria: and all the Prophets prophesied before them.
9 E o rei de Israel e Josafá, o rei de Judá, assentaram-se, cada qual em seu trono, usando as suas vestes, e eles se assentaram em um local vazio à entrada do portão de Samaria; e todos os profetas profetizaram diante deles.
10 And Zidkiah ye sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites vntill thou hast consumed them.
10 E Zedequias, o filho de Quenaaná, fez para si chifres de ferro; e disse: Assim diz o SENHOR: Com estes empurrarás a Síria, até que sejam consumidos.
11 And all the Prophets prophesied so, saying, Go vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.
11 E todos os profetas profetizaram assim, dizendo: Sobe até Ramote-Gileade, e prospera; porque o SENHOR a entregará na mão do rei.
12 And the messenger that went to call Michaiah, spake to him, saying, Beholde, the wordes of the Prophets declare good to the King with one accord: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speake thou good.
12 E o mensageiro que foi chamar Micaías falou a ele, dizendo: Eis que as palavras dos profetas declaram o bem para o rei, seja, pois, também a tua palavra como a de um deles, e fala o que é bom.
13 And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer my God saith, that will I speake.
13 E Micaías disse: Como vive o SENHOR, o que o meu Deus me disser, isto falarei.
14 So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I leaue off? And he said, Goe yee vp, and prosper, and they shalbe deliuered into your hand.
14 Vindo, pois, ele ao rei, este lhe disse: Micaías, devemos ir a Ramote-Gileade para batalha, ou devemos nos refrear? E ele disse: Subi, e prosperai, e eles serão entregues nas vossas mãos.
15 And the King sayd to him, Howe oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell mee nothing but the trueth in the Name of the Lord?
15 E o rei lhe disse: Quantas vezes devo conjurar-te que não digas nada além da verdade para mim em o nome do SENHOR?
16 Then he said, I saw al Israel scattered in the mountaines, as sheepe that haue no shepheard: and the Lord sayd, These haue no Master: let them returne euery man to his house in peace.
16 E ele disse: Vi todo o Israel espalhado sobre os montes, como ovelhas que não têm um pastor; e o SENHOR disse: Estas não têm senhor; que retornem portanto cada homem à sua casa em paz.
17 And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would not prophesie good vnto me, but euill?
17 E o rei de Israel disse a Josafá: Não te contei eu que ele não profetizaria o bem para mim, senão o mal?
18 Againe hee saide, Therefore heare ye the worde of the Lord: I sawe the Lord sit vpon his throne, and all the hoste of heauen standing at his right hand, and at his left.
18 Novamente, ele disse: Portanto, ouvi a palavra do SENHOR: Eu vi o SENHOR assentado no seu trono, e todo o exército do céu de pé junto a ele à sua direita e à sua esquerda.
19 And the Lord sayd, Who shall perswade Ahab King of Israel, that he may go vp, and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one spake and said thus, and another said that.
19 E o SENHOR disse: Quem persuadirá Acabe, rei de Israel, para que ele possa subir e tombar em Ramote-Gileade? E um falava dizendo segundo esta maneira, e outro dizendo segundo aquela maneira.
20 Then there came forth a spirit and stoode before the Lord, and said, I will perswade him. And the Lord said vnto him, Wherein?
20 Então saiu ali um espírito, e se pôs de pé diante do SENHOR, e disse: Eu o persuadirei. E o SENHOR disse a ele: Com o quê?
21 And he saide, I will goe out, and bee a false spirit in the mouth of all his Prophets. And hee said, Thou shalt perswade, and shalt also preuaile: goe forth and do so.
21 E ele disse: Eu sairei e serei um espírito mentiroso na boca de todos os seus profetas. E o SENHOR disse: Tu o persuadirá, e tu também prevalecerás: Sai, e faz assim.
22 Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a false spirit in the mouth of these thy Prophets, and the Lord hath determined euill against thee.
22 Agora, portanto, eis que o SENHOR colocou um espírito mentiroso na boca destes teus profetas, e o SENHOR falou o mal contra ti.
23 Then Zidkiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah vpon the cheeke, and sayde, By what way went the Spirit of the Lord from me, to speake with thee?
23 Então Zedequias, o filho de Quenaaná, aproximou-se, e feriu Micaías no maxilar, e disse: Qual caminho seguiu o Espírito do SENHOR de mim para falar a ti?
24 And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see that day when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.
24 E Micaías disse: Eis que naquele dia verás, quando adentrares uma câmara interna para te esconderes.
25 And the King of Israel sayde, Take ye Michaiah, and cary him to Amon the gouernour of the citie, and to Ioash the Kings sonne,
25 E o rei de Israel disse: Tomai Micaías, e carregai-o de volta a Amom, o governador da cidade, e a Joás, o filho do rei;
26 And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction vntil I returne in peace.
26 e dizei: Assim diz o rei: Colocai este indivíduo na prisão, e alimentai-o com pão de aflição e com água de aflição, até que eu retorne em paz.
27 And Michaiah said, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he saide, Heare, all ye people.
27 E Micaías disse: Se tu certamente retornares em paz, então não falou o SENHOR por mim. E ele disse: Escutai, vós todos do povo.
28 So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.
28 Assim, o rei de Israel e Josafá, o rei de Judá, subiram até Ramote-Gileade.
29 And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, I will change my selfe, and enter into the battel: but put thou on thine apparel. So the King of Israel changed himselfe, and they went into the battel.
29 E o rei de Israel disse a Josafá: Eu me disfarçarei, e irei à batalha; mas põe tu as tuas vestes. Assim, o rei de Israel se disfarçou; e eles foram à batalha.
30 And the King of Aram had commanded the captaines of the charets that were with him, saying, Fight you not with small, nor great, but against the King of Israel onely.
30 Porém, o rei da Síria havia ordenado aos capitães das carruagens que estavam com ele, dizendo: Não lutes com pequeno, nem com grande, mas tão somente com o rei de Israel.
31 And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayde, It is the King of Israel: and they compassed about him to fight. But Iehoshaphat cryed, and the Lord helped him and moued them to depart from him.
31 E sucedeu, quando os capitães das carruagens viram Josafá, eles disseram: É o rei de Israel. Portanto, eles o cercaram para lutar; mas Josafá clamou, e o SENHOR o socorreu; e Deus moveu-os a se apartarem dele.
32 For when the captaines of the charets saw that hee was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.
32 Porque sucedeu que, quando os capitães das carruagens perceberam que não era o rei de Israel, deixaram de persegui-lo.
33 Then a certaine man drewe a bowe mightily, and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine: Therefore he saide to his charetman, Turne thine hand, and carie mee out of the host: for I am hurt.
33 E um certo homem atirou um arco a esmo, e feriu o rei de Israel entre as juntas da couraça; pelo que ele disse ao homem da sua carruagem: Vira a tua mão, para que possas me carregar para fora do exército; porque estou ferido.
34 And the battel increased that day: and the King of Israel stood still in his charet against the Aramites vntil euen, and dyed at the time of the sunne going downe.
34 E a batalha se intensificou naquele dia; todavia o rei de Israel manteve-se de pé na sua carruagem contra os sírios até o anoitecer; e por volta da hora do sol se pôr ele morreu.
