1 And Iehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, but he was ioyned in affinitie with Ahab.
1 Tinha Josafá riquezas e glória em abundância; e aparentou-se com Acabe.
2 And after certaine yeeres he went downe to Ahab to Samaria: and Ahab slew sheepe and oxen for him in great nomber, and for the people that he had with him, and entised him to goe vp vnto Ramoth Gilead.
2 Ao cabo de alguns anos, foi ter com Acabe, em Samaria. Acabe matou ovelhas e bois em abundância, para ele e para o povo que viera com ele; e o persuadiu a subir, com ele, a Ramote-Gileade.
3 And Ahab King of Israel saide vnto Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Wilt thou goe with mee to Ramoth Gilead? And hee answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people, and wee will ioyne with thee in the warre.
3 Acabe, rei de Israel, perguntou a Josafá, rei de Judá: Irás tu, comigo, a Ramote-Gileade? Respondeu-lhe Josafá: Serei como tu és, o meu povo, como o teu povo; iremos, contigo, à peleja.
4 And Iehoshaphat sayde vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsel, I pray thee, at the worde of the Lord this day.
4 Disse mais Josafá ao rei de Israel: Consulta, primeiro, a palavra do Senhor .
5 Therefore the King of Israel gathered of Prophets foure hundreth men, and sayde vnto them, Shall we goe to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I cease? And they sayd, Go vp: for God shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.
5 Então, o rei de Israel ajuntou os profetas, quatrocentos homens, e lhes disse: Iremos à peleja contra Ramote-Gileade ou deixarei de ir? Eles disseram:
6 But Iehoshaphat sayde, Is there heere neuer a Prophet more of the Lord that wee might inquire of him?
6 Sobe, porque Deus a entregará nas mãos do rei. Disse, porém, Josafá: Não há, aqui, ainda algum profeta do Senhor , para o consultarmos?
7 And the King of Israel sayd vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whome wee may aske counsell of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophesie good vnto me, but alway euil: it is Michaiah the sonne of Imla. Then Iehoshaphat said, Let not the King say so.
7 Respondeu o rei de Israel a Josafá: Há um ainda, por quem podemos consultar o Senhor ; porém eu o aborreço, porque nunca profetiza de mim o que é bom, mas somente o que é mau.
8 And the King of Israel called an eunuche, and said, Call quickly Michaiah the sonne of Imla.
8 Este é Micaías, filho de Inlá. Disse Josafá: Não fale o rei assim. Então, o rei de Israel chamou um oficial e disse: Traze-me depressa a Micaías, filho de Inlá.
9 And the King of Israel, and Iehoshaphat King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne clothed in their apparel: they sate euen in the threshing floore at the entring in of the gate of Samaria: and all the Prophets prophesied before them.
9 O rei de Israel e Josafá, rei de Judá, estavam assentados, cada um no seu trono, vestidos de trajes reais, numa eira à entrada da porta de Samaria; e todos os profetas profetizavam diante deles.
10 And Zidkiah ye sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites vntill thou hast consumed them.
10 Zedequias, filho de Quenaana, fez para si uns chifres de ferro e disse: Assim diz o Senhor : Com este, escornearás os siros, até de todo os consumir.
11 And all the Prophets prophesied so, saying, Go vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.
11 Todos os profetas profetizaram assim, dizendo: Sobe a Ramote-Gileade e triunfarás, porque o Senhor a entregará nas mãos do rei.
12 And the messenger that went to call Michaiah, spake to him, saying, Beholde, the wordes of the Prophets declare good to the King with one accord: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speake thou good.
12 O mensageiro que fora chamar a Micaías falou-lhe, dizendo: Eis que as palavras dos profetas, a uma voz, predizem coisas boas para o rei; seja, pois, a tua palavra como a palavra de um deles, e fala o que é bom.
13 And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer my God saith, that will I speake.
13 Respondeu Micaías: Tão certo como vive o Senhor , o que meu Deus me disser, isso falarei.
14 So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I leaue off? And he said, Goe yee vp, and prosper, and they shalbe deliuered into your hand.
14 E, vindo ele ao rei, este lhe perguntou: Micaías, iremos a Ramote-Gileade, à peleja, ou deixarei de ir? Ele respondeu: Sobe e triunfarás, porque eles serão entregues nas vossas mãos.
15 And the King sayd to him, Howe oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell mee nothing but the trueth in the Name of the Lord?
15 O rei lhe disse: Quantas vezes te conjurarei que não me fales senão a verdade em nome do Senhor ?
16 Then he said, I saw al Israel scattered in the mountaines, as sheepe that haue no shepheard: and the Lord sayd, These haue no Master: let them returne euery man to his house in peace.
16 Então, disse ele: Vi todo o Israel disperso pelos montes, como ovelhas que não têm pastor; e disse o Senhor : Estes não têm dono; torne cada um em paz para sua casa.
17 And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would not prophesie good vnto me, but euill?
17 Então, o rei de Israel disse a Josafá: Não te disse eu que ele não profetiza a meu respeito o que é bom, mas somente o que é mau?
18 Againe hee saide, Therefore heare ye the worde of the Lord: I sawe the Lord sit vpon his throne, and all the hoste of heauen standing at his right hand, and at his left.
18 Micaías prosseguiu: Ouvi, pois, a palavra do Senhor : Vi o Senhor assentado no seu trono, e todo o exército do céu estava à sua direita e à sua esquerda.
19 And the Lord sayd, Who shall perswade Ahab King of Israel, that he may go vp, and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one spake and said thus, and another said that.
19 Perguntou o Senhor : Quem enganará Acabe, o rei de Israel, para que suba e caia em Ramote-Gileade? Um dizia desta maneira, e outro, de outra.
20 Then there came forth a spirit and stoode before the Lord, and said, I will perswade him. And the Lord said vnto him, Wherein?
20 Então, saiu um espírito, e se apresentou diante do Senhor , e disse: Eu o enganarei. Perguntou-lhe o Senhor : Com quê?
21 And he saide, I will goe out, and bee a false spirit in the mouth of all his Prophets. And hee said, Thou shalt perswade, and shalt also preuaile: goe forth and do so.
21 Respondeu ele: Sairei e serei espírito mentiroso na boca de todos os seus profetas. Disse o Senhor : Tu o enganarás e ainda prevalecerás; sai e faze-o assim.
22 Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a false spirit in the mouth of these thy Prophets, and the Lord hath determined euill against thee.
22 Eis que o Senhor pôs o espírito mentiroso na boca de todos estes teus profetas e o Senhor falou o que é mau contra ti.
23 Then Zidkiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah vpon the cheeke, and sayde, By what way went the Spirit of the Lord from me, to speake with thee?
23 Então, Zedequias, filho de Quenaana, deu uma bofetada em Micaías e disse:
24 And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see that day when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.
24 Por onde saiu o Espírito do Senhor para falar a ti? Disse Micaías: Eis que o verás naquele mesmo dia, quando entrares de câmara em câmara, para te esconderes.
25 And the King of Israel sayde, Take ye Michaiah, and cary him to Amon the gouernour of the citie, and to Ioash the Kings sonne,
25 Então, disse o rei de Israel: Tomai a Micaías e devolvei-o a Amom, governador da cidade, e a Joás, filho do rei;
26 And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction vntil I returne in peace.
26 e direis: Assim diz o rei: Metei este homem na casa do cárcere e angustiai-o com escassez de pão e de água, até que eu volte em paz.
27 And Michaiah said, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he saide, Heare, all ye people.
27 Disse Micaías: Se voltares em paz, não falou o Senhor , na verdade, por mim. Disse mais: Ouvi isto, vós, todos os povos!
28 So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.
28 Subiram o rei de Israel e Josafá, rei de Judá, a Ramote-Gileade.
29 And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, I will change my selfe, and enter into the battel: but put thou on thine apparel. So the King of Israel changed himselfe, and they went into the battel.
29 Disse o rei de Israel a Josafá: Eu me disfarçarei e entrarei na peleja; tu, porém, traja as tuas vestes. Disfarçou-se, pois, o rei de Israel, e entraram na peleja.
30 And the King of Aram had commanded the captaines of the charets that were with him, saying, Fight you not with small, nor great, but against the King of Israel onely.
30 Ora, o rei da Síria dera ordem aos capitães dos seus carros, dizendo: Não pelejareis nem contra pequeno nem contra grande, mas somente contra o rei de Israel.
31 And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayde, It is the King of Israel: and they compassed about him to fight. But Iehoshaphat cryed, and the Lord helped him and moued them to depart from him.
31 Vendo os capitães dos carros a Josafá, disseram: Este é o rei de Israel. Portanto, a ele se dirigiram para o atacar. Josafá, porém, gritou, e o Senhor o socorreu; Deus os desviou dele.
32 For when the captaines of the charets saw that hee was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.
32 Vendo os capitães dos carros que não era o rei de Israel, deixaram de o perseguir.
33 Then a certaine man drewe a bowe mightily, and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine: Therefore he saide to his charetman, Turne thine hand, and carie mee out of the host: for I am hurt.
33 Então, um homem entesou o arco e, atirando ao acaso, feriu o rei de Israel por entre as juntas da sua armadura; então, disse este ao seu cocheiro: Vira e leva-me para fora do combate, porque estou gravemente ferido.
34 And the battel increased that day: and the King of Israel stood still in his charet against the Aramites vntil euen, and dyed at the time of the sunne going downe.
34 A peleja tornou-se renhida naquele dia; quanto ao rei, segurou-se a si mesmo de pé no carro defronte dos siros, até à tarde, mas, ao pôr do sol, morreu.
