1 Now when King Dauid was olde, and striken in yeeres, they couered him with clothes, but no heate came vnto him.
1 O rei Davi estava velho, avançado em anos, e por mais que o cobrissem de roupas, não se aquecia.
2 Wherefore his seruants saide vnto him, Let there be sought for my lord ye King a yong virgin, and let her stand before the king, and cherish him: and let her lie in thy bosome, that my lord the King may get heate.
2 Seus familiares disseram-lhe: Busquemos para nosso senhor, o rei, uma donzela virgem que sirva o rei e tenha cuidado dele, e durma em seu seio para que ele se aqueça.
3 So they sought for a faire young maide thoroughout all the coastes of Israel, and founde one Abishag a Shunamite, and brought her to the king.
3 Procuraram, pois, em toda a terra de Israel, uma donzela formosa; encontraram Abisag, a sunamita, e levaram-na ao rei.
4 And the maid was exceeding faire, and cherished the king, and ministred to him, but the King knew her not.
4 Essa donzela era muito formosa. Ela cuidava do rei e o servia, mas o rei não a possuiu.
5 Then Adoniiah the sonne of Haggith exalted himselfe, saying, I will be king. And he gate him charets and horsemen, and fiftie men to run before him.
5 Ora, Adonias, filho de Hagit, encheu-se de orgulho e exclamou: Sou eu quem reinará. Adquiriu para si um carro e cavalos, e tomou uma escolta de cinqüenta homens.
6 And his father would not displease him from his childehood, to say, Why hast thou done so? And hee was a very goodly man, and his mother bare him next after Absalom.
6 Nunca seu pai o contrariou, dizendo: Por que fazes isso? Além disso, ele era muito belo e {na idade} seguia imediatamente a Absalão.
7 And he tooke counsel of Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah, and of Abiathar the Priest: and they helped forward Adoniiah.
7 Tendo feito reuniões com Joab, filho de Sarvia, e com o sacerdote Abiatar, esses tornaram-se seus adeptos.
8 But Zadok the Priest, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and Nathan the Prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the men of might, which were with Dauid, were not with Adoniiah.
8 O sacerdote Sadoc, porém, bem como Banaías, filho de Jojada, o profeta Natã, Semei, Rei e os valentes de Davi, não abraçaram o seu partido.
9 Then Adoniiah sacrificed sheepe and oxen, and fat cattel by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and called all his brethren the kings sonnes, and al the men of Iudah ye Kings seruants,
9 Adonias, tendo imolado ovelhas, bois e bezerros cevados junto à pedra de Zoelet, ao lado de En-Rogel, convidou todos os seus irmãos, filhos do rei, e todos os de Judá que estavam a serviço do rei.
10 But Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah, and the mightie men, and Salomon his brother hee called not.
10 Mas não convidou o profeta Natã, nem Banaías, nem os valentes, nem o seu irmão Salomão.
11 Wherefore Nathan spake vnto Bath-sheba the mother of Salomon, saying, Hast thou not heard, that Adoniiah ye sonne of Haggith doeth reigne, and Dauid our lord knoweth it not?
11 Disse Natã a Betsabé, mãe de Salomão: Não soubeste que Adonias, filho de Hagit, se proclamou rei, sem que o saiba Davi, nosso senhor?
12 Now therefore come, and I will now giue thee counsell, howe to saue thine owne life, and the life of thy sonne Salomon.
12 Escuta: vou dar-te um conselho, para que salves a tua vida e a de teu filho Salomão.
13 Go, and get thee in vnto King Dauid, and say vnto him, Didest not thou, my lorde, O King, sweare vnto thine handmaide, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and he shall sit vpon my throne? why is then Adoniiah King?
13 Vai ter com o rei Davi e dize-lhe: Ó rei, meu senhor, não juraste à tua serva que Salomão, meu filho, reinaria depois de ti, e se sentaria no teu trono? Por que então Adonias se proclamou rei?
14 Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the King, I also will come in after thee, and confirme thy wordes.
14 Enquanto estiveres falando assim ao rei, entrarei e confirmarei o que tiveres dito.
15 So Bath-sheba went in vnto the King into the chamber, and the King was verie olde, and Abishag the Shunammite ministred vnto ye King.
15 Foi Betsabé ter com o rei no seu quarto. {O rei estava já muito velho, e Abisag, a sunamita, cuidava dele.}
16 And Bath-sheba bowed and made obeisance vnto the King. And the King saide, What is thy matter?
16 Betsabé inclinou-se e prostrou-se diante do rei. Este disse-lhe: Que queres?
17 And shee answered him, My lorde, thou swarest by the Lord thy God vnto thine handmaide, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and he shall sit vpon my throne.
17 Ela respondeu: Meu senhor, prometeste com juramento à tua serva que meu filho Salomão reinaria depois de ti, e se sentaria no teu trono.
18 And beholde, nowe is Adoniiah king, and now, my lord, O King, thou knowest it not.
18 Ora, eis que Adonias se proclamou rei, sem que o saiba o rei, meu senhor.
19 And he hath offred many oxen, and fatte cattel, and sheepe, and hath called all the sonnes of the King, and Abiathar the Priest, and Ioab the captaine of the hoste: but Salomon thy seruant hath he not bidden.
19 Imolou bois, bezerros cevados e grande quantidade de ovelhas, e convidou todos os príncipes, o sacerdote Abiatar e o general Joab; mas não convidou o teu servo Salomão.
20 And thou, my lorde, O King, knowest that the eyes of all Israel are on thee, that thou shouldest tell them, who shoulde sit on the throne of my lord the King after him.
20 Ó rei, meu senhor, todo o Israel tem os olhos postos em ti, esperando que declares quem há de tomar o teu lugar no trono depois de ti.
21 For els when my lord the King shall sleepe with his fathers, I and my sonne Salomon shalbe reputed vile.
21 Do contrário, logo que o rei, meu senhor, dormir com os seus pais, eu e meu filho Salomão seremos tratados como criminosos.
22 And lo, while she yet talked with the King, Nathan also the Prophet came in.
22 Falava ela ainda ao rei, quando se apresentou o profeta Natã.
23 And they tolde the King, saying, Beholde, Nathan the Prophet. And when he was come in to the King, hee made obeisance before the King vpon his face to the ground.
23 Disseram ao rei: Está aí o profeta Natã. Ele entrou e prostrou-se com o rosto por terra diante do rei.
24 And Nathan saide, My lorde, O King, hast thou said, Adoniiah shall reigne after mee, and he shall sit vpon my throne?
24 Em seguida disse: Ó rei, meu senhor, porventura declaraste: Adonias reinará depois de mim e se sentará no meu trono?
25 For hee is gone downe this day, and hath slaine many oxen, and fat cattel, and sheepe, and hath called al the Kings sonnes, and the captaines of the hoste, and Abiathar the Priest: and behold, they eate and drinke before him, and say, God saue King Adoniiah.
25 Pois ele desceu hoje para imolar bois, bezerros cevados e grande quantidade de ovelhas, tendo convidado todos os príncipes, os generais e o sacerdote Abiatar, os quais estão comendo e bebendo com ele, e gritando: Viva o rei Adonias!
26 But me thy seruant, and Zadok the Priest, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and thy seruant Salomon hath he not called.
26 Não fomos, porém, convidados nem eu, teu servo, nem o sacerdote Sadoc, nem Banaías, filho de Jojada, nem teu servo Salomão.
27 Is this thing done by my lord the King, and thou hast not shewed it vnto thy seruant, who should sitte on the throne of my lorde the King after him?
27 Será do agrado de meu senhor e rei que assim se faça? Porque não deste a conhecer a teus servos quem deverá sentar-se depois de ti no trono do rei, meu senhor.
28 Then King Dauid answered, and saide, Call me Bath-sheba. And shee came into ye Kings presence, and stoode before the King.
28 O rei respondeu: Chamai-me Betsabé. Ela entrou e ficou de pé diante dele;
29 And the King sware, saying, As the Lord liueth, who hath redeemed my soule out of all aduersitie,
29 o rei fez-lhe este juramento: Pela vida de Deus que me livrou de toda a angústia,
30 That as I sware vnto thee by the Lord God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and hee shall sit vpon my throne in my place, so will I certainely doe this day.
30 o que te jurei pelo Senhor, Deus de Israel, dizendo: Teu filho Salomão reinará depois de mim e sentar-se-á no meu trono em meu lugar, isso vou cumprir hoje.
31 Then Bath-sheba bowed her face to the earth, and did reuerence vnto the King, and said, God saue my lord King Dauid for euer.
31 Betsabé inclinou-se diante do rei, prostrando-se com a face por terra, e disse: Viva o rei Davi, meu senhor, para sempre!
32 And King Dauid saide, Call mee Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada. And they came before the King.
32 O rei Davi disse: Chamai-me o sacerdote Sadoc, o profeta Natã, e Banaías, filho de Jojada. Tendo-se eles apresentado diante do rei, este disse-lhes:
33 Then the King said vnto them, Take with you the seruants of your lorde, and cause Salomon my sonne to ride vpon mine owne mule, and carie him downe to Gihon.
33 Tomai convosco os servos de vosso amo, fazei montar na minha mula o meu filho Salomão, e levai-o a Gião.
34 And let Zadok the Priest and Nathan the Prophet anoint him there King ouer Israel, and blowe ye the trumpet, and say, God saue king Salomon.
34 Ali o sacerdote Sadoc e o profeta Natã o ungirão rei de Israel. Tocareis então a trombeta e direis: Viva o rei Salomão!
35 Then come vp after him, that hee may come and sit vpon my throne: and hee shall bee King in my steade: for I haue appointed him to be prince ouer Israel and ouer Iudah.
35 Voltareis depois atrás dele, e ele virá sentar-se no meu trono para reinar em meu lugar; pois é a ele que estabeleço chefe de Israel e de Judá.
36 Then Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada answered the King, and said, So be it, and the Lord God of my lord the King ratifie it.
36 Banaías, filho de Jojada, respondeu ao rei: Assim seja; assim queira ordenar o Senhor, o Deus de meu senhor e rei!
37 As the Lord hath bene with my lorde the King, so be he with Salomon, and exalt his throne aboue the throne of my lorde king Dauid.
37 Esteja ele com Salomão assim como esteve com o rei, meu senhor, e eleve o seu trono ainda acima do trono de meu senhor o rei Davi!
38 So Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went downe and caused Salomon to ride vpon king Dauids mule, and brought him to Gihon.
38 O sacerdote Sadoc desceu com o profeta Natã, Banaías, filho de Jojada, os cereteus e os feleteus; fizeram montar Salomão na mula de Davi e conduziram-no a Gião.
39 And Zadok the Priest tooke an horne of oyle out of the Tabernacle, and anointed Salomon: and they blewe the trumpet, and all the people said, God saue king Salomon.
39 Tomou o sacerdote Sadoc no tabernáculo o chifre de óleo e ungiu com ele Salomão. A trombeta soou e todo o povo pôs-se a gritar: Viva o rei Salomão!
40 And all the people came vp after him, and the people piped with pipes, and reioyced with great ioye, so that the earth rang with the sound of them.
40 Depois toda a gente voltou atrás dele, tocando flauta e fazendo grandes festas, de modo que a terra vibrava com suas aclamações.
41 And Adoniiah and all the ghestes that were with him, heard it: (and they had made an ende of eating) and when Ioab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, What meaneth this noise and vprore in the citie?
41 Adonias e seus convivas, tendo terminado o seu banquete, ouviram aquela algazarra. Joab, ouvindo soar a trombeta, disse: Por que esse barulho de cidade alvoroçada?
42 And as he yet spake, beholde, Ionathan the sonne of Abiathar the Priest came: and Adoniiah said, Come in: for thou art a worthie man, and bringest good tidings.
42 Falava ainda, quando sobreveio Jônatas, filho do sacerdote Abiatar. Adonias disse-lhe: Vem: tu és um homem valente e trazes certamente boas notícias.
43 And Ionathan answered, and said to Adoniiah, Verely our lord King Dauid hath made Salomon King.
43 Sim, respondeu Jônatas; é verdade que o rei Davi, meu senhor, proclamou rei a Salomão.
44 And the King hath sent with him Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they haue caused him to ride vpon the Kings mule.
44 Enviou com ele o sacerdote Sadoc, o profeta Natã, Banaías, filho de Jojada, os cereteus e os feleteus e estes fizeram-no montar na mula do rei.
45 And Zadok the Priest, and Nathan ye Prophet haue anointed him King in Gihon: and they are gone vp from thence with ioy, and the citie is moued: this is the noise that ye haue heard.
45 O sacerdote Sadoc e o profeta Natã ungiram-no rei em Gião. Dali voltaram cheios de alegria, e a cidade está em alvoroço: essa é a algazarra que ouviste.
46 And Salomon also sitteth on the throne of the kingdome.
46 E Salomão até já está sentado no trono do reino.
47 And moreouer the Kings seruantes came to blesse our lord King Dauid, saying, God make the name of Salomon more famous then thy name, and exalt his throne aboue thy throne: therefore the King worshipped vpon the bed.
47 Além disso, os servos do rei foram felicitar o rei Davi, meu senhor, dizendo: Que o teu Deus torne o nome de Salomão maior que o teu, e eleve o seu trono ainda acima do teu! O rei prostrou-se então sobre o seu leito e disse:
48 And thus sayd the King also, Blessed bee the Lord God of Israel, who hath made one to sit on my throne this day, euen in my sight.
48 Bendito seja o Senhor, Deus de Israel, que hoje pôs sobre o meu trono um sucessor, vendo-o eu com os meus próprios olhos!
49 Then all the ghestes that were with Adonijah, were afraide, and rose vp, and went euery man his way.
49 Os convidados de Adonias, aterrorizados, levantaram-se e foram cada um para o seu lado.
50 And Adonijah fearing the presence of Salomon, arose and went, and tooke holde on the hornes of the altar.
50 Adonias, temendo Salomão, levantou-se também e foi abraçar-se com os cornos do altar.
51 And one tolde Salomon, saying, Beholde, Adonijah doeth feare King Salomon: for lo, he hath caught holde on the hornes of the altar, saying, Let King Salomon sweare vnto me this day, that he will not slay his seruant with the sword.
51 Disseram-no a Salomão, nestes termos: Eis que Adonias, temendo o rei Salomão, foi abraçar-se com os cornos do altar, dizendo: Jure-me hoje o rei Salomão que ele não fará morrer o seu servo à espada!
52 Then Salomon sayd, If he will shewe him selfe a worthy man, there shall not an heare of him fall to the earth, but if wickednes be found in him, he shall dye.
52 Se ele se mostrar um homem valente, respondeu Salomão, não lhe cairá por terra um só de seus cabelos; mas se nele se encontrar maldade, morrerá.
53 Then King Salomon sent, and they brought him from the altar, and he came and did obeisance vnto King Salomon. And Salomon sayde vnto him, Go to thine house.
53 O rei Salomão mandou mensageiros, e o fizeram descer do altar. Ele veio e prostrou-se diante do rei, que lhe disse: Volta para a tua casa.
