1 Waphendula uYesu, wabuya wathetha kubo ngemizekeliso, esithi,"
1 Jesus tornou a falar-lhes por meio de parábolas:
2 Ubukumkani bamazulu bufanekiswa nomntu ongukumkani, owamenzela umsitho unyana wakhe."
2 The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,
3 Wesusa abakhonzi bakhe ukuba baye kubabiza abamenyiweyo, beze emsithweni; basuka abavuma ukuza."
3 and sent his bondmen to call the persons invited to the wedding feast, and they would not come.
4 Wabuya wesusa abanye abakhonzi, esithi, Yitshoni kwabamenyiweyo ukuthi, Yabonani, isidlo sam sendisilungisile; iinkomo zam neento zam ezityetyisiweyo zixheliwe, konke sekulungile; yizani emsithweni."
4 Again he sent other bondmen, saying, Say to the persons invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted beasts are killed, and all things ready; come to the wedding feast.
5 Abakhathalanga ke bona; basuka bemka, omnye waya kweyakhe intsimi, omnye waya ekurhwebeni kwakhe."
5 But they made light of it, and went, one to his own land, and another to his commerce.
6 Bathi ke abaseleyo bababamba abakhonzi bakhe, babaphatha kakubi, bababulala."
6 And the rest, laying hold of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew {them}.
7 Evile ke ukumkani, waqumba, wayikhupha imikhosi yakhe, wabatshabalalisa abo babulali, wawutshisa nomzi wabo."
7 And {when} the king {heard of it he} was wroth, and having sent his forces, destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
8 Aze athi kubakhonzi bakhe, Umsitho okunene sewulungile wona, kodwa abamenyiweyo bebengafanelekile."
8 Then he says to his bondmen, The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy;
9 Yiyani ngoko ezintlanganweni zeendlela, nithi abo nithe nabafumana, nibabize beze emsithweni."
9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the highways, and as many as ye shall find invite to the wedding feast.
10 Baphuma abo bakhonzi baya ezindleleni, bahlanganisa bonke ababafumanayo, abakhohlakeleyo kwanabalungileyo; wazala umsitho ngabamenyiweyo."
10 And those bondmen went out into the highways, and brought together all as many as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was furnished with guests.
11 Ke kaloku akungena ukumkani, eza kukhangela abamenyiweyo, wabona apho umntu ongambethe ngubo yamsitho."
11 And the king, having gone in to see the guests, beheld there a man not clothed with a wedding garment.
12 Athi kuye, Wethu, utheni na ukungena apha, ungenayo ingubo yomsitho? Lamkhohla ke."
12 And he says to him, {My} friend, how camest thou in here not having on a wedding garment? But he was speechless.
13 Wathi ukumkani kubalungiseleli, Mbopheni iinyawo nezandla, nimthabathe, nimkhuphele ebumnyameni bangaphandle; khona apho kuya kubakho ukulila nokutshixiza kwamazinyo."
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
14 Kuba baninzi ababiziweyo, ke bambalwa abanyuliweyo."
14 For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
15 Baza abaFarisi baya benza ibhunga lokuba bamthiyele ekuthetheni kwakhe."

16 Bathumela kuye abafundi babo benamaHerode, besithi, Mfundisi, siyazi ukuba uyinyaniso, uyifundisa indlela kaThixo ngenyaniso; kananjalo akukhathali nangubani, kuba akukhethi buso bamntu."
16 And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men's person;
17 Sixelele ngoko, uthini na wena? Kuvumelekile na ukumnika irhafu uKesare, akuvumelekile, sini na?"
17 tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
18 Ke kaloku, eyazi uYesu inkohlakalo yabo, wathi, Nindilingelani na, bahanahanisindini?"
18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, hypocrites?
19 Ndiboniseni iqhosha lerhafu. Bamzisela ke idenariyo."
19 Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denarius.
20 Athi kubo, Ngokabani na lo mfanekiso nombhalo?"
20 And he says to them, Whose {is} this image and superscription?
21 Bathi kuye, NgokaKesare. Andule ukuthi kubo, Nikelani kaloku izinto zikaKesare kuKesare, neento zikaThixo kuThixo."
21 They say to him, Caesar's. Then he says to them, Pay then what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God.
22 Bakuva bamangaliswa, basuka bamshiya, bemka."
22 And when they heard {him}, they wondered, and left him, and went away.
23 Kwangaloo mini kweza kuye abaSadusi, abathi akukho luvuko; bambuza,"

24 besithi, Mfundisi, uMoses wathi, Ukuba ubani uthe wafa engenabantwana, wothi umzalwana wakhe amngene umfazi wakhe, amvelisele imbewu umzalwana wakhe."
24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife and shall raise up seed to his brother.
25 Ke kaloku kwaye kukho kuthi abazalwana abasixhenxe; waza owokuqala akubon’ ukuba uzekile wabhubha, wathi, kuba engenambewu, wamshiya kumzalwana wakhe umfazi wakhe."
25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.
26 Wenjenjalo nowesibini, nowesithathu, kwada kwaya kowesixhenxe."
26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven.
27 Emveni ke kwabo bonke, wafa naye umfazi."
27 And last of all the woman also died.
28 Ngoko eluvukweni uya kuba ngumfazi wawuphi na kweso sixhenxe? Kuba babenaye bonke."
28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her?
29 Waphendula ke uYesu wathi kubo, Niyalahleka, kuba ningazazi izibhalo kwanamandla kaThixo."
29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.
30 Kuba eluvukweni abazeki, abendiswa; banjengazo izithunywa zikaThixo emazulwini."
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven.
31 Ngalo ke uvuko lwabafileyo, anikulesanga na okwathethwayo kuni nguThixo, esithi,"
31 Quanto à ressurreição dos mortos, não lestes o que Deus vos disse:
32 Mna ndinguThixo ka-Abraham, uThixo kaIsake, uThixo kaYakobi? UThixo akaThixo wabafileyo, ungowabaphilileyo."
32 Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaac e o Deus de Jacó {Ex 3,6}? Ora, ele não é Deus dos mortos, mas Deus dos vivos.
33 Zathi izihlwele zakukuva, zakhwankqiswa yimfundiso yakhe."
33 E, ouvindo esta doutrina, as turbas se enchiam de grande admiração.

35 e um deles, doutor da lei, fez-lhe esta pergunta para pô-lo à prova:
36 Mfundisi, owona myalelo mkhulu emthethweni nguwuphi na?"
36 Mestre, qual é o maior mandamento da lei?
37 Wathi ke uYesu kuye, Uze uyithande iNkosi uThixo wakho ngentliziyo yakho iphela, nangomphefumlo wakho uphela, nangengqondo yakho iphela."
37 Respondeu Jesus: Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo teu coração, de toda tua alma e de todo teu espírito {Dt 6,5}.
38 Nguwo lowo owokuqala nomkhulu umthetho."
38 Este é o maior e o primeiro mandamento.
39 Owesibini ke ufana nawo: Uze umthande ummelwane wakho ngoko uzithanda ngako."
39 E o segundo, semelhante a este, é: Amarás teu próximo como a ti mesmo {Lv 19,18}.
40 Kule mithetho yomibini kuxhomekeke umyalelo uphela nabaprofeti."
40 Nesses dois mandamentos se resumem toda a lei e os profetas.
41 Bakubon’ ukuba bahlanganisene ke abaFarisi, uYesu wabuza kubo,"
41 Como os fariseus se agrupassem, Jesus interrogou-os:
42 esithi, Nithini na nina ngaye uKristu? Ungunyana kabani na? Bathi kuye, KaDavide."
42 Que pensais vós de Cristo? De quem é filho? Responderam: De Davi!
43 Athi kubo, Yini na phofu ukuba uDavide ngoMoya ambize ngokuthi, Nkosi, esithi,"
43 Como então, prosseguiu Jesus, Davi, falando sob inspiração do Espírito, chama-o Senhor, dizendo:
44 Yathi iNkosi eNkosini yam, Hlala ngasekunene kwam, Ndide iintshaba zakho ndizenze isihlalo seenyawo zakho?"
44 O Senhor disse a meu Senhor: Senta-te à minha direita, até que eu ponha teus inimigos por escabelo dos teus pés {Sl 109,1}?
45 Ukuba uDavide ngoko umbiza ngokuba Nkosi, ungunyana wakhe ngani na?"
45 Se, pois, Davi o chama Senhor, como é ele seu filho?
46 Akubangakho namnye ubenako ukumphendula nezwi eli; kananjalo kususela kuloo mini, akubanga sabakho mntu waba nabuganga bakumbuza nto."
46 Ninguém pôde responder-lhe nada. E, depois daquele dia, ninguém mais ousou interrogá-lo.
