1 Jeesus kuvasi vielä monien kertomusten avulla Jumalan valtakuntaa.
1 Jesus tornou a falar-lhes por meio de parábolas:
2 Hän kertoi kuninkaasta, joka järjesti pojalleen hienot häät.
2 The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,
3 »Kutsuttiin paljon vieraita. Kun kaikki oli valmista, kutsutuille lähetettiin viesti: ’Juhla alkaa!’ Mutta joka ainoa peruutti tulonsa.
3 and sent his bondmen to call the persons invited to the wedding feast, and they would not come.
4 Kuningas lähetti toiset viestinviejät ilmoittamaan: ’Tervetuloa häihin! Paistit ovat jo kypsymässä ja juhla voi kohta alkaa.’
4 Again he sent other bondmen, saying, Say to the persons invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted beasts are killed, and all things ready; come to the wedding feast.
5 Ihmiset eivät välittäneet kutsusta vaan menivät omiin töihinsä – kuka kauppaansa, kuka pellollensa.
5 But they made light of it, and went, one to his own land, and another to his commerce.
6 Jotkut hyökkäsivät kutsujien kimppuun ja uhkailivat heitä häpeämättömästi, jopa tappoivatkin muutamia heistä.
6 And the rest, laying hold of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew {them}.
7 Silloin kuningas suuttui. Hän lähetti sotilaita tekemään murhaajista lopun ja hävittämään heidän kaupunkinsa.
7 And {when} the king {heard of it he} was wroth, and having sent his forces, destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
8 Sitten hän ilmoitti palvelijoilleen: ’Hääpäivällinen on valmis. Kutsumani vieraat eivät olleet kutsun arvoisia.
8 Then he says to his bondmen, The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy;
9 Menkää katujen risteyksiin ja pyytäkää juhliin kaikki jotka tapaatte.’
9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the highways, and as many as ye shall find invite to the wedding feast.
10 Palvelijat tekivät niin kuin kuningas käski. He toivat juhlasalin täyteen ihmisiä. Joukkoon mahtui sekä hyviä että pahoja.
10 And those bondmen went out into the highways, and brought together all as many as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was furnished with guests.
11 Kun kuningas tuli tervehtimään vieraita, hän näki, että eräällä miehellä ei ollut juhlapukua, jollainen oli varattu kaikille vieraille?
11 And the king, having gone in to see the guests, beheld there a man not clothed with a wedding garment.
12 ’Hyvä ystävä, miten voit olla täällä tuollaisissa vaatteissa?’ hän ihmetteli. Mies ei osannut vastata.
12 And he says to him, {My} friend, how camest thou in here not having on a wedding garment? But he was speechless.
13 Kuningas antoi palvelijoilleen käskyn: ’Sitokaa tämän miehen kädet ja jalat ja heittäkää hänet ulos pimeään, missä hän joutuu itkemään ja valittamaan.’
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
14 Monia kutsutaan, mutta vain harvat valitaan.»
14 For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
15 Fariseukset yrittivät keksiä, kuinka saisivat Jeesuksen puhumaan sellaista, mistä hänet voitaisiin pidättää.

16 He lähettivät asialle omia miehiään ja Herodeksen puolueen jäseniä. Nämä selittivät: »Opettaja, tiedämme, että olet rehellinen ja pidät kiinni totuudesta, maksoi mitä maksoi. Et pelkää tai suosi ketään.
16 And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men's person;
17 Sano nyt meille, onko oikein maksaa veroja Rooman hallitukselle?»
17 tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
18 Jeesus näki heidän lävitseen. »Voi teitä tekopyhiä», hän huokasi. »Ketä yritätte pettää kysymyksellänne?
18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, hypocrites?
19 Antakaahan tänne kolikko.» He ojensivat hänelle rahan.
19 Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denarius.
20 »Kenen kuva siihen on painettu?» Jeesus kysyi.
20 And he says to them, Whose {is} this image and superscription?
21 »Keisarin», he vastasivat.
21 They say to him, Caesar's. Then he says to them, Pay then what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God.
22 Jeesuksen vastaus sai heidät sanattomiksi, ja he lähtivät tiehensä.
22 And when they heard {him}, they wondered, and left him, and went away.
23 Samana päivänä tulivat muutamat saddukeukset, jotka eivät uskoneet kuolemanjälkeiseen elämään, kysymään Jeesuksen mielipidettä:

24 »Mooses sanoi, että jos mies kuolee lapsettomana, hänen veljensä on mentävä lesken kanssa naimisiin. Heidän lapsensa perivät kuolleen omaisuuden.
24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife and shall raise up seed to his brother.
25 Eräässä tuntemassamme perheessä oli seitsemän poikaa. Vanhin solmi avioliiton ja kuoli lapsettomana. Seuraava poika meni sitten naimisiin lesken kanssa.
25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.
26 Myös tämä mies kuoli lapsettomana. Vaimosta tuli kolmannenkin veljeksen puoliso.
26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven.
27 Loppujen lopuksi hän ehti olla naimisissa kaikkien seitsemän kanssa ennen kuin kuoli itse.
27 And last of all the woman also died.
28 Kenen vaimo hän oikein on kuoleman jälkeen?»
28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her?
29 Jeesus vastasi: »Te erehdytte, kun ette tunne Raamattua ettekä Jumalan voimaa.
29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.
30 Ylösnousemuksen jälkeen ei avioliittoa ole. Ihmisistä tulee samanlaisia kuin taivaan enkeleistä.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven.
31 Onko sitten elämää kuoleman jälkeen? Ettekö lue Raamattua? Siellähän Jumala sanoo teille suoraan:
31 Quanto à ressurreição dos mortos, não lestes o que Deus vos disse:
32 ’Minä olen Aabrahamin, Iisakin ja Jaakobin Jumala.’ He elävät yhä, sillä Jumala ei ole kuolleiden Jumala.»
32 Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaac e o Deus de Jacó {Ex 3,6}? Ora, ele não é Deus dos mortos, mas Deus dos vivos.
33 Jeesuksen vastaukset tekivät syvän vaikutuksen muihin
33 E, ouvindo esta doutrina, as turbas se enchiam de grande admiração.

34 Sabendo os fariseus que Jesus reduzira ao silêncio os saduceus, reuniram-se
35 — ausente —
35 e um deles, doutor da lei, fez-lhe esta pergunta para pô-lo à prova:
36 »Opettaja, mikä on Mooseksen lain tärkein käsky?»
36 Mestre, qual é o maior mandamento da lei?
37 Jeesus vastasi: »’Rakasta Herraa, sinun Jumalaasi, koko sydämestäsi, sielustasi ja mielestäsi.’
37 Respondeu Jesus: Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo teu coração, de toda tua alma e de todo teu espírito {Dt 6,5}.

38 Este é o maior e o primeiro mandamento.
39 — ausente —
39 E o segundo, semelhante a este, é: Amarás teu próximo como a ti mesmo {Lv 19,18}.
40 Kaikki muut käskyt ja profeettojen opetukset juontavat juurensa näistä kahdesta käskystä.»
40 Nesses dois mandamentos se resumem toda a lei e os profetas.
41 Fariseukset pyörivät Jeesuksen ympärillä. Hän heitti heille kysymyksen:
41 Como os fariseus se agrupassem, Jesus interrogou-os:
42 »Mitä mieltä olette Messiaasta? Kenen poika hän on?»
42 Que pensais vós de Cristo? De quem é filho? Responderam: De Davi!
43 »Miksi Daavid sitten sanoo häntä Pyhän Hengen innoittamana ’Herraksi’?» Jeesus kysyi. »Daavidhan kertoi:
43 Como então, prosseguiu Jesus, Davi, falando sob inspiração do Espírito, chama-o Senhor, dizendo:
44 ’Jumala käski Herrani istuutua oikealle puolelleen, kunnes hän voittaisi tämän viholliset.’
44 O Senhor disse a meu Senhor: Senta-te à minha direita, até que eu ponha teus inimigos por escabelo dos teus pés {Sl 109,1}?
45 Voiko Messias olla Daavidin poika, vaikka tämä kutsui häntä Herrakseen?»
45 Se, pois, Davi o chama Senhor, como é ele seu filho?
46 He eivät osanneet vastata. Sen jälkeen ei kukaan enää uskaltanut kysyä Jeesukselta mitään.
46 Ninguém pôde responder-lhe nada. E, depois daquele dia, ninguém mais ousou interrogá-lo.
