1 Put them in mind that to princes and to powers they are to hearken and to be obedient, and to be prepared for every good work.
1 Admoesta-os a que sejam submissos aos magistrados e às autoridades, sejam obedientes, estejam prontos para qualquer obra boa,
2 And against no man to rail, nor be contentious, but gentle, and in every thing to show their benignity towards all men.
2 não falem mal dos outros, sejam pacíficos, afáveis e saibam dar provas de toda mansidão para com todos os homens.
3 For we also were afore-time without understanding, and disobedient and erring, and were subjected to various lusts; and in malice, and in envy we conversed, and were hateful, and also hating one another.
3 Porque também nós outrora éramos insensatos, rebeldes, transviados, escravos de paixões de toda espécie, vivendo na malícia e na inveja, detestáveis, odiando-nos uns aos outros.
4 But when appeared the goodness and mercy of Aloha our Saviour,
4 Mas um dia apareceu a bondade de Deus, nosso Salvador, e o seu amor para com os homens.
5 not by works of righteousness which we had done, but by his own mercy he saved us, by the laving of the birth which is afresh, by the renewing of the Spirit of Holiness,
5 E, não por causa de obras de justiça que tivéssemos praticado, mas unicamente em virtude de sua misericórdia, ele nos salvou mediante o batismo da regeneração e renovação, pelo Espírito Santo,
6 which he shed upon us abundantly, by Jeshu Meshiha our Saviour;
6 que nos foi concedido em profusão, por meio de Cristo, nosso Salvador,
7 that by his grace we might be justified, and be made heirs according to the hope of the life which is eternal.
7 para que a justificação obtida por sua graça nos torne, em esperança, herdeiros da vida eterna.
8 Faithful is the word; and in this I will that thou also establish them, that they should be careful to perform good works, they who have believed in Aloha. These are good and profitable unto men.
8 Certa é esta doutrina, e quero que a ensines com constância e firmeza, para que os que abraçaram a fé em Deus se esforcem por se aperfeiçoar na prática do bem. Isto é bom e útil aos homens.
9 But from foolish disputations, and from tales of genealogies, and from contentions, and strifes of the sophree, withdraw; for profit is not in them, and they are vain.
9 Quanto a questões tolas, genealogias, contendas e disputas relativas à lei, foge delas, porque são inúteis e vãs.
10 From an heretical man, after one time and twice thou hast admonished him, withdraw;
10 O homem que assim fomenta divisões, depois de advertido uma primeira e uma segunda vez, evita-o,
11 and know that he who is such is perverse, and sinneth, and condemneth himself.
11 visto que esse tal é um perverso que, perseverando no seu pecado, se condena a si próprio.
12 When I have sent to thee Artema, or Tykikos, be careful to come to me at Nikopolis; for there I have determined in my mind to winter.
12 Logo que eu te enviar Ártemas ou Tíquico, apressa-te a vir ter comigo em Nicópolis, onde decidi passar o inverno.
13 But concerning Zina the sophra, and Apolo, be careful to provide them well, that nothing may be wanting to them.
13 Prepara com cuidado a viagem do jurista Zenas e de Apolo, de maneira que nada lhes venha a faltar.
14 And let those also who are of us, learn to perform good works in things which are necessary, that they may not be without fruits.
14 Urge também que os nossos aprendam a aplicar-se às boas obras para atender às necessidades mais prementes. Assim não ficarão infrutuosos.
15 All they who are with me ask for thy peace. Ask for the peace of all who love us in the faith. Grace be with all of you. Amen.
15 Todos os que estão comigo te saúdam. Saúda todos aqueles que nos amam na fé. A graça esteja com todos vós!
