1 Put them in mind that to princes and to powers they are to hearken and to be obedient, and to be prepared for every good work.
1 Lembre a todos que se sujeitem ao governo e às autoridades. Devem ser obedientes e sempre prontos a fazer o que é bom.
2 And against no man to rail, nor be contentious, but gentle, and in every thing to show their benignity towards all men.
2 Não devem caluniar ninguém, mas evitar brigas. Que sejam amáveis e mostrem a todos verdadeira humildade.
3 For we also were afore-time without understanding, and disobedient and erring, and were subjected to various lusts; and in malice, and in envy we conversed, and were hateful, and also hating one another.
3 Em outros tempos, também éramos insensatos e desobedientes. Vivíamos no engano e nos tornamos escravos de muitas paixões e prazeres. Éramos cheios de maldade e inveja e odiávamos uns aos outros.
4 But when appeared the goodness and mercy of Aloha our Saviour,
4 Mas, Quando Deus, nosso Salvador, revelou sua bondade e seu amor,
5 not by works of righteousness which we had done, but by his own mercy he saved us, by the laving of the birth which is afresh, by the renewing of the Spirit of Holiness,
5 ele nos salvou não porque tivéssemos feito algo justo, mas por causa de sua misericórdia. Ele nos lavou para remover nossos pecados, nos fez nascer de novo e nos deu nova vida por meio do Espírito Santo.
6 which he shed upon us abundantly, by Jeshu Meshiha our Saviour;
6 Generosamente, derramou o Espírito sobre nós por meio de Jesus Cristo, nosso Salvador.
7 that by his grace we might be justified, and be made heirs according to the hope of the life which is eternal.
7 Por causa de sua graça, nos declarou justos e nos deu a esperança de que herdaremos a vida eterna.
8 Faithful is the word; and in this I will that thou also establish them, that they should be careful to perform good works, they who have believed in Aloha. These are good and profitable unto men.
8 Essa é uma afirmação digna de confiança, e quero que você insista nesses ensinamentos, para que todos os que creem em Deus se dediquem a fazer o bem. São ensinamentos bons e benéficos para todos.
9 But from foolish disputations, and from tales of genealogies, and from contentions, and strifes of the sophree, withdraw; for profit is not in them, and they are vain.
9 Não se envolva em discussões tolas sobre genealogias intermináveis, nem em disputas e brigas sobre a obediência às leis judaicas. Essas coisas são inúteis, e perda de tempo.
10 From an heretical man, after one time and twice thou hast admonished him, withdraw;
10 Se alguém tem causado divisões entre vocês, advirta-o uma primeira e uma segunda vez. Depois disso, não se relacione mais com ele.
11 and know that he who is such is perverse, and sinneth, and condemneth himself.
11 Tais indivíduos se desviaram da verdade e condenaram a si mesmos com seus pecados.
12 When I have sent to thee Artema, or Tykikos, be careful to come to me at Nikopolis; for there I have determined in my mind to winter.
12 Planejo enviar-lhe Ártemas ou Tíquico. Assim que um deles chegar, procure ir ao meu encontro em Nicópolis, pois decidi passar o inverno ali.
13 But concerning Zina the sophra, and Apolo, be careful to provide them well, that nothing may be wanting to them.
13 Faça todo o possível para ajudar Zenas, o advogado, e Apolo na viagem deles. Providencie que tenham tudo de que precisam.
14 And let those also who are of us, learn to perform good works in things which are necessary, that they may not be without fruits.
14 Nosso povo deve aprender a fazer o bem ao suprir as necessidades urgentes de outros; assim, ninguém será improdutivo.
15 All they who are with me ask for thy peace. Ask for the peace of all who love us in the faith. Grace be with all of you. Amen.
15 Todos aqui mandam lembranças. Por favor, envie minhas saudações a todos que nos amam na fé. Que a graça de Deus esteja com todos vocês.
