1 And as helpers, we beseech of you that the grace of Aloha which you have received be not made ineffectual in you.
1 Como cooperadores de Deus, suplicamos a vocês que não recebam em vão a graça de Deus.
2 For he hath said, In the time acceptable I have heard thee, And in the day of salvation I have helped thee. Behold, Now is the time acceptable; behold, Now is the day of salvation.
2 Pois Deus diz: “No tempo certo, eu o ouvi; no dia da salvação, eu lhe dei socorro”. De fato, agora é o “tempo certo”. Hoje é o dia da salvação!
3 Nor in any thing give to any man occasion of stumbling, that no blemish may be upon our ministry;
3 Vivemos de forma que ninguém tropece por nossa causa, nem tenha motivo para criticar nosso ministério.
4 but in every thing will we demonstrate ourselves that we are the ministers of Aloha; by much patience, by afflictions, by necessity, by imprisonments,
4 Em tudo que fazemos, mostramos que somos verdadeiros servos de Deus. Suportamos pacientemente aflições, privações e calamidades de todo tipo.
5 by stripes, by chains, by tumults, by labour, by watching, by fasting,
5 Fomos espancados e encarcerados, enfrentamos multidões furiosas, trabalhamos até a exaustão, suportamos noites sem dormir e passamos fome.
6 by purity, by knowledge, by prolonging the mind, by benignity, by the Spirit of Holiness, by love without deceit,
6 Mostramos quem somos por nossa pureza, nosso entendimento, nossa paciência e nossa bondade, pelo Espírito Santo que vive em nós e por nosso amor sincero.
7 by the doctrine of truth, by the power of Aloha, by the arms of righteousness for the right hand and for the left,
7 Proclamamos a verdade fielmente, e o poder de Deus opera em nós. Usamos as armas da justiça, com a mão direita para atacar e com a mão esquerda para defender.
8 by glory and by shame, by praise and by abuse; as deceivers, and true;
8 Servimos quer as pessoas nos honrem, quer nos desprezem, quer nos difamem, quer nos elogiem. Somos chamados de impostores, apesar de sermos honestos.
9 as unknown, and yet we are known; as dead, yet, lo, we live; as chastened, yet we die not;
9 Somos tratados como desconhecidos, embora sejamos bem conhecidos. Vivemos à beira da morte, mas ainda estamos vivos. Fomos espancados, mas não mortos.
10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet many making rich; as having nothing, yet possessing every thing.
10 Nosso coração se entristece, mas sempre temos alegria. Somos pobres, mas enriquecemos a muitos outros. Não possuímos nada e, no entanto, temos tudo.
11 OUR mouth is opened to you, Kurinthoyee, and our heart expanded.
11 Queridos coríntios, falamos a vocês com toda honestidade e lhes abrimos o coração.
12 You are not constrained in us, but you are constrained in your own bowels.
12 Não falta amor da nossa parte, mas vocês nos negaram seu afeto.
13 But as unto (my) children, I say to you, Render to me my gains which are with you, and expand your love towards me.
13 Peço que retribuam esse amor como se fossem meus próprios filhos. Abram o coração para nós!
14 And be not sons of the yoke with them who believe not. For what participation hath righteousness with iniquity? Or what commixture hath the light with darkness?
14 Não se ponham em jugo desigual com os descrentes. Como pode a justiça ser parceira da maldade? Como pode a luz conviver com as trevas?
15 Or what concord hath the Meshiha with Satana? Or what portion hath the believer with the unbeliever?
15 Que harmonia pode haver entre Cristo e o diabo? Como alguém que crê pode se ligar a quem não crê?
16 Or what union hath the temple of Aloha with (that) of demons? For you are the temple of Aloha the living; as it is written, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; And I will be their God, And they shall be to me a people.
16 E que união pode haver entre o templo de Deus e os ídolos? Pois somos o templo do Deus vivo. Como ele próprio disse: “Habitarei e andarei no meio deles. Serei o seu Deus, e eles serão o meu povo.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, And be separate from them, (saith the Lord,) And the impure touch not; And I will receive you,
17 Portanto, afastem-se e separem-se deles, diz o Senhor. Não toquem em coisas impuras, e eu os receberei.
18 And I will be to you a Father, And you shall be to me for sons and daughters, Saith the Lord, who holdeth all.
18 Eu serei seu Pai, e vocês serão meus filhos e minhas filhas, diz o Senhor Todo-poderoso”.
