1 A faithful word [I shall say]. If any man desireth a bishopric, he desireth a good work.
1 Fiel é a palavra: se alguém aspira ao episcopado, excelente obra almeja.
2 Therefore it behooveth a bishop to be without reproof, the husband of one wife, sober, prudent, chaste, virtuous, holding hospitality, a teacher;
2 É necessário, portanto, que o bispo seja irrepreensível, esposo de uma só mulher, temperante, sóbrio, modesto, hospitaleiro, apto para ensinar;
3 not given much to wine, not a smiter, but temperate [or patient], not full of chiding [or full of strife], not covetous,
3 não dado ao vinho, não violento, porém cordato, inimigo de contendas, não avarento;
4 well-ruling his house, and have sons subject with all chastity;
4 e que governe bem a própria casa, criando os filhos sob disciplina, com todo o respeito
5 for if any man know not how to govern his house, how shall he have (the) diligence [or the keeping] of the church of God?
5 (pois, se alguém não sabe governar a própria casa, como cuidará da igreja de Deus?);
6 not new(ly) converted to the faith, lest he be borne up into pride, and fall into [the] doom of the devil. (not newly converted to the faith, lest he be raised up into pride, and then fall into the judgement of the Devil, or and then fall down under the same condemnation as the Devil.)
6 não seja neófito, para não suceder que se ensoberbeça e incorra na condenação do diabo.
7 For it behooveth him to have also good witnessing of them that be withoutforth (or And it behooveth him to have good testimony from those who be outside the church), (so) that he fall not into reproof, and into the snare of the devil.
7 Pelo contrário, é necessário que ele tenha bom testemunho dos de fora, a fim de não cair no opróbrio e no laço do diabo.
8 Also it behooveth deacons to be chaste, not double-tongued, not given much to wine [or not given to much wine], not following foul winning;
8 Semelhantemente, quanto a diáconos, é necessário que sejam respeitáveis, de uma só palavra, não inclinados a muito vinho, não cobiçosos de sórdida ganância,
9 that have the mystery of faith in clean conscience. (who hold to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.)
9 conservando o mistério da fé com a consciência limpa.
10 But be they proved first, and minister they so, having no crime, [or great sin].
10 Também sejam estes primeiramente experimentados; e, se se mostrarem irrepreensíveis, exerçam o diaconato.
11 Also it behooveth women to be chaste, not backbiting, sober, faithful in all things.
11 Da mesma sorte, quanto a mulheres, é necessário que sejam elas respeitáveis, não maldizentes, temperantes e fiéis em tudo.
12 Deacons be husbands of one wife; which govern well their sons and their houses.
12 O diácono seja marido de uma só mulher e governe bem seus filhos e a própria casa.
13 For they that minister well, shall get a good degree to themselves, and much trust in the faith, that is in Christ Jesus (or that is in the Messiah Jesus).
13 Pois os que desempenharem bem o diaconato alcançam para si mesmos justa preeminência e muita intrepidez na fé em Cristo Jesus.
14 Son Timothy, I write to thee these things, hoping that I shall come soon to thee;
14 Escrevo-te estas coisas, esperando ir ver-te em breve;
15 but if I tarry, that thou knowest, how it behooveth thee to live in the house of God, that is the church of (the) living God, (as) a pillar and (a) firmness of (the) truth.
15 para que, se eu tardar, fiques ciente de como se deve proceder na casa de Deus, que é a igreja do Deus vivo, coluna e baluarte da verdade.
16 And openly it is a great sacrament of piety, that thing that was showed in (the) flesh, it is justified in (the) Spirit, it appeared to angels, it is preached to heathen men, it is believed in the world, it is taken up into glory.
16 Evidentemente, grande é o mistério da piedade: Aquele que foi manifestado na carne foi justificado em espírito, contemplado por anjos, pregado entre os gentios, crido no mundo, recebido na glória.
