¹ Then David was eld and full of days, and he ordained Solomon, his son, king upon Israel.

⁴ And four and twenty thousand men were chosen of them, and were parted into the service of the house of the Lord; and of sovereigns, and judges, six thousand; (And twenty-four thousand men were chosen from them, and were put in service in the House of the Lord; and six thousand were overseers, \+em or officers\+em*, and judges, \+em or magistrates\+em*;)

⁵ and four thousand that were porters of gates and doors, and so many singers, singing to the Lord in organs, which David had made for to sing with. (and four thousand were made gatekeepers of the gates and the doors, and as many singers sang to the Lord with the instruments which David had made to sing with.)

¹⁴ Also the sons of Moses, the man of God, were numbered in the lineage of Levi. (But the sons of Moses, the man of God, were counted in the tribe of Levi.)

²³ The sons of Mushi were three, Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth.

²⁴ These were the sons of Levi in their kindreds and families, and they were princes by whiles, and the number of all the heads, that did the travail of the service of the house of the Lord, from twenty years and above. (These \+em were\+em* the Levites in their kindreds and families, and the list of all their leaders, yea, those who did the work in the service of the House of the Lord, from twenty years of age and older.)

²⁵ For David said, The Lord God of Israel hath given rest to his people, and a dwelling in Jerusalem into without end; (For David said, The Lord God of Israel hath given rest to his people, and shall make his dwelling place in Jerusalem forevermore;)

²⁵ Pois Davi disse: “O S enhor , Deus de Israel, nos deu paz e habitará sempre em Jerusalém.

²⁶ and it shall not be the office of (the) deacons for to bear [any] more the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof for to minister therein. (and it shall not be the duty of the Levites to carry about the Tabernacle any more, or any of the vessels for its service.)

²⁶ Os levitas não precisam mais carregar o tabernáculo nem seus utensílios de um lugar para outro”.

²⁷ Also by the last behests of David the number of the sons of Levi shall be reckoned from twenty years and above; (And by the last commands of David the number of the Levites shall be reckoned from twenty years of age and above;)

²⁷ De acordo com as últimas instruções de Davi, foram registrados para o serviço todos os levitas de 20 anos ou mais.

²⁸ and they shall be under the hand of the sons of Aaron, into the worship of the house of the Lord, in porches, and in chambers, and in the place of cleansing, and in the saintuary, and in all works of the service of the temple of the Lord. (and they shall be under the power of the sons of Aaron in the service of the House of the Lord, yea, in the courtyards, and in the rooms, and in the cleansing of all the holy things, and in all the works in the service of the Temple of the Lord.)

²⁸ O trabalho dos levitas era ajudar os sacerdotes, os descendentes de Arão, no serviço da casa do S enhor . Também cuidavam dos pátios e das salas laterais, ajudavam a realizar as cerimônias de purificação e serviam na casa de Deus de várias outras maneiras.

²⁹ And [the] priests shall be over the loaves of proposition, that is, \+sls (the loaves of)\+sls* setting forth, and to the sacrifice of [tried] flour, and to the pastes sodden in water, and to the therf loaves, and to the frying pan, and to [the] hot flour, and to singe, and over all weight and measure. (And the priests \+em shall\+em* be in charge of the loaves of proposition, \+em that is, the loaves of setting forth\+em*, and the sacrifice of fine flour, and the pastries boiled in water, and the unleavened bread, and the frying pan, and the hot flour, and the singeing, and over all the weights and measures.)

²⁹ Eram encarregados dos pães da presença colocados sobre a mesa, da farinha da melhor qualidade para as ofertas de cereais, dos bolos sem fermento, dos pães assados em azeite e da mistura das massas. Eram responsáveis, ainda, por verificar todos os pesos e medidas.

³⁰ And the deacons shall be, that they stand early, for to acknowledge and sing to the Lord, and in like manner at eventide, (And every morning, the Levites shall be on duty to give thanks and to sing to the Lord, and in like manner every evening,)

³⁰ Todas as manhãs e todas as tardes, apresentavam-se diante do S enhor para entoar cânticos de ação de graças e louvor.

³¹ as well in the offering of burnt sacrifices of the Lord, as in sabbaths, and calends, and other solemnities, by the number and ceremonies of each thing, continually before the Lord; (as well as at the offering of burnt sacrifices to the Lord, on Sabbaths, and calends, and the other Feast Days, by their prescribed number, continually before the Lord;)

³¹ Ajudavam nos holocaustos oferecidos ao S enhor nos sábados, nas festas de lua nova e em todas as outras festas fixas. O número requerido de levitas estava sempre de serviço na presença do S enhor , e seguiam todos os procedimentos que lhes haviam sido prescritos.

³² and that they keep the observances of the tabernacle of the bond of peace of the Lord, and the custom of the saintuary, and the observance of the sons of Aaron, their brethren, that they minister in the house of the Lord. (and that they keep the observances of the Tabernacle of the Covenant of the Lord, \+em that is, the Tabernacle of the Witnessing\+em*, and the customs of the sanctuary, and the observances of the sons of Aaron, their kinsmen, and so serve in the House of the Lord.)

³² E assim, sob a supervisão dos sacerdotes, os descendentes de Arão, os levitas guardavam a tenda do encontro e o santuário e cumpriam seus deveres no serviço da casa do S enhor .
