¹ Be merciful unto me, O God; for man would swallow me up: all the day long he fighting oppresseth me.

¹ Tem misericórdia de mim, ó Deus, porque os homens querem me destruir; todo o dia eles me oprimem e lutam contra mim.

² Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long: for they be many that fight proudly against me.

² Os meus inimigos sempre querem me destruir; são muitos os que atrevidamente me combatem.

³ What time I am afraid, I will put my trust in thee.

³ Quando eu ficar com medo, hei de confiar em ti.

⁴ In God I will praise his word: in God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; what can flesh do unto me?

⁴ Em Deus, cuja palavra eu exalto, neste Deus ponho a minha confiança e nada temerei. Que me pode fazer um mortal?

⁵ All the day long they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.

⁵ Todo o dia torcem as minhas palavras; os seus pensamentos são todos contra mim para o mal.

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, even as they have waited for my soul.

⁶ Ajuntam-se, escondem-se, espionam os meus passos, como aguardando a hora de me tirarem a vida.

⁷ Shall they escape by iniquity? in anger cast down the peoples, O God.

⁷ Dá-lhes a retribuição segundo a sua iniquidade. Derruba os povos, ó Deus, na tua ira!

⁸ Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle; are they not in thy book?

⁸ Contaste os meus passos quando sofri perseguições. Recolhe as minhas lágrimas no teu odre; não estão elas inscritas no teu livro?

⁹ Then shall mine enemies turn back in the day that I call: this I know, that God is for me.

⁹ No dia em que eu te invocar, os meus inimigos baterão em retirada. Uma coisa eu sei: que Deus é por mim.

¹⁰ In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.

¹¹ In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; what can man do unto me?

¹² Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render thank offerings unto thee.

¹² Os votos que fiz, eu os manterei, ó Deus; trarei as ofertas de ações de graças.

¹³ For thou hast delivered my soul from death: hast thou not delivered my feet from falling? that I may walk before God in the light of the living.

¹³ Pois da morte livraste a minha alma, sim, livraste da queda os meus pés, para que eu ande na presença de Deus, na luz da vida.
