GOD'S WORD (ENGGW) vs BKJ
1 When Sanballat heard we were rebuilding the wall, he became enraged and made fun of the Jews.
1 Todavia, sucedeu que, quando Sambalate ouviu que nós edificávamos a muralha, ele ficou enfurecido, e teve grande indignação, e zombou dos judeus.
2 In front of his allies and the army from Samaria, he said, “What do these miserable Jews think they’re doing? Can they rebuild it by themselves? Are they going to offer sacrifices? Can they finish it in a day? Will they get the stones out of the rubbish heaps, burned as these stones are, and give them new strength?”
2 E ele falou diante dos seus irmãos e do exército de Samaria, e disse: O que fazem estes fracos judeus? Fortificar-se-ão? Sacrificarão? Acabarão eles em um dia? Reavivarão as pedras dos montes de entulho que estão queimadas?
3 Tobiah the Ammonite, who was beside Sanballat, said, “Even a fox would make their stone wall collapse if it walked on top of what they’re building!”
3 Ora, Tobias, o amonita estava junto a ele, e disse: Mesmo que eles edifiquem, se uma raposa subir, ela porá abaixo a sua muralha de pedra.
4 ⌞Nehemiah prayed,⌟ “Our God, hear us. We are despised. Turn their insults back on them, and let them be robbed in the land where they are prisoners.
4 Ouve, ó nosso Deus; porque somos desprezados; e torna o opróbrio sobre as suas próprias cabeças, e entrega-os por presa na terra do cativeiro;
5 Don’t ignore their guilt, and don’t let their sins disappear from your records. They have insulted you in front of these builders.”
5 e não cubras a sua iniquidade, e que o seu pecado não seja apagado de diante de ti; porquanto eles têm te provocado à ira diante dos edificadores.
6 So we rebuilt the wall, which was rebuilt to about half its ⌞original⌟ height. The people worked with determination.
6 Assim, nós edificamos a muralha; e toda muralha se completou até a metade; porque o povo tinha a mente para o trabalho.
7 When Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the people from Ashdod heard that the repair work on the walls of Jerusalem was making progress and that the gaps were being filled in, they became furious.
7 Porém, sucedeu que, quando Sambalate e Tobias, e os árabes, e os amonitas, e os asdoditas, ouviram que as muralhas de Jerusalém estavam erigidas, e que as fendas começavam a ser fechadas, eles então ficaram mui enfurecidos,
8 All of them plotted to attack Jerusalem to create confusion.
8 e todos juntos conspiraram para vir e lutar contra Jerusalém, e impedi-los.
9 But we prayed to our God and set guards to protect us day and night.
9 Todavia, nós fizemos a nossa oração ao nosso Deus, e posicionamos uma guarda contra eles, dia e noite, por sua causa.
10 Then the people of Judah said, “The work crews are worn out, and there is too much rubble. We can’t continue to rebuild the wall.”
10 E Judá disse: Já desfaleceram as forças dos acarretadores, e há muito entulho; de modo que não somos capazes de edificar a muralha.
11 Our enemies said, “Before they know what is happening or see a thing, we will be right in the middle of them. We’ll kill them and bring the work to an end.”
11 E os nossos adversários disseram: Eles não saberão, nem verão, até que entremos no seu meio, e os matemos, e façamos cessar a obra.
12 Jews who were living near our enemies warned us ten times that our enemies would attack us from every direction.
12 E sucedeu que, vindo os judeus que habitavam entre eles, nos disseram dez vezes: De todos os lugares, tornarão contra nós.
13 That is why I positioned people by their families behind the wall where it was lowest and most exposed. The people were armed with swords, spears, and bows.
13 Por isso eu pus nos lugares mais baixos atrás da muralha, e nos lugares mais altos, pus o povo segundo as suas famílias com as suas espadas, com as suas lanças, e com os seus arcos.
14 I looked them over and proceeded to tell the nobles, the leaders, and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of our enemies. Remember how great and awe-inspiring the Lord is. Fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.”
14 E eu olhava, e me levantava, e dizia aos nobres, e aos governantes, e ao restante do povo: Não os temais; lembrai-vos do Senhor, que é grande e terrível, e luta pelos vossos irmãos, vossos filhos, e vossas filhas, vossas esposas e vossas casas.
15 When our enemies heard that we knew about their plots and that God had prevented their plans from being successful, we all went back to the work on the wall. Each person performed his own job.
15 E sucedeu que, quando os nossos inimigos ouviram que isto era sabido por nós, e que Deus havia transformado o conselho deles em nada, todos nós retornamos à muralha, cada um para o seu trabalho.
16 From that day on, half of my men worked on the wall, and the other half were wearing body armor and holding spears, shields, and bows. The leaders stood behind all the Judeans
16 E sucedeu que, daquele tempo em diante, metade dos meus servos trabalhava na obra, e a outra metade deles tinha as lanças, os escudos, os arcos, e as couraças; e os governantes estavam por detrás de toda a casa de Judá.
17 who were rebuilding the wall. The workers who were carrying loads did the work with one hand and held their weapons with the other,
17 Aqueles que edificavam sobre a muralha, e aqueles que levavam as cargas, com aqueles que carregavam, cada um com uma das suas mãos trabalhava na obra, e com a outra mão segurava uma arma.
18 and each builder had his sword fastened to his side. The man who was supposed to sound the trumpet alarm was with me.
18 Porque os edificadores, cada um tinha a sua espada cingida ao seu lado, e assim edificavam. E aquele que soava a trombeta estava junto a mim.
19 I told the nobles, the leaders, and the rest of the people, “So much work has to be done in different places that we are widely separated from one another on the wall.
19 E eu disse aos nobres, e aos governantes, e ao restante do povo: A obra é grande e extensa, e nós estamos separados sobre a muralha, um longe do outro.
20 When you hear the trumpet, assemble around me. Our God will fight for us!”
20 Portanto, no lugar que ouvirdes o som da trombeta, correi ali até nós; o nosso Deus lutará por nós.
21 So we continued to work. Half of us held spears from early dawn until the stars came out.
21 Assim trabalhávamos na obra; e metade deles segurava as lanças desde o levantar da manhã até que as estrelas aparecessem.
22 At that time I told the people, “Every man and his servant should stay overnight in Jerusalem so that we can set a guard at night and work during the day.”
22 De modo semelhante, naquele tempo, eu disse ao povo: Que cada um com o seu servo se aloje na parte interna de Jerusalém, para que à noite eles possam ser uma guarda para nós, e trabalhem de dia.
23 My brothers, my servants, and the guards assigned to me never changed their clothes. Neither did I. We each kept our weapons at hand.
23 Assim, nem eu, nem os meus irmãos, nem os meus servos, nem os homens da guarda que me seguiam, nenhum de nós tirava as suas vestes, salvo para que cada um pudesse tirá-las para lavar.
