1 Jesus got into a boat, crossed the sea, and came to his own city.
1 Jesus entrou num barco, voltou para o lado oeste do lago e chegou à sua cidade .
2 Some people brought him a paralyzed man on a stretcher.
2 Então algumas pessoas trouxeram um paralítico deitado numa cama. Jesus viu que eles tinham fé e disse ao paralítico:
3 Then some of the experts in Moses’ Teachings thought, “He’s dishonoring God.”
3 Aí alguns mestres da Lei começaram a pensar: — Este homem está
4 Jesus knew what they were thinking. He asked them, “Why are you thinking evil things?
4 Porém Jesus sabia o que eles estavam pensando e disse:
5 Is it easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?
5 O que é mais fácil dizer ao paralítico: “Os seus pecados estão perdoados” ou “Levante-se e ande”?
6 I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, pick up your stretcher, and go home.”
6 Pois vou mostrar a vocês que eu, o Então disse ao paralítico:
7 So the man got up and went home.
7 O homem se levantou e foi para casa.
8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe and praised God for giving such authority to humans.
8 Quando o povo viu isso, ficou com medo e louvou a Deus por dar esse poder a seres humanos.
9 When Jesus was leaving that place, he saw a man sitting in a tax office. The man’s name was Matthew. Jesus said to him, “Follow me!” So Matthew got up and followed him.
9 Jesus saiu dali e, no caminho, viu um cobrador de impostos, chamado Mateus, sentado no lugar onde os impostos eram pagos. Jesus lhe disse: Mateus se levantou e foi com ele.
10 Later Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house. Many tax collectors and sinners came to eat with Jesus and his disciples.
10 Mais tarde, enquanto Jesus estava jantando na casa de Mateus, muitos cobradores de impostos e outras pessoas de má fama chegaram e sentaram-se à mesa com Jesus e os seus discípulos.
11 The Pharisees saw this and asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
11 Alguns fariseus viram isso e perguntaram aos discípulos: — Por que é que o mestre de vocês come com os cobradores de impostos e com outras pessoas de má fama?
12 When Jesus heard that, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor; those who are sick do.
12 Jesus ouviu a pergunta e respondeu:
13 Learn what this means: ‘I want mercy, not sacrifices.’ I’ve come to call sinners, not people who think they have God’s approval.”
13 Vão e procurem entender o que quer dizer este trecho das
14 Then John’s disciples came to Jesus. They said, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often but your disciples never do?”
14 Então os discípulos de João Batista chegaram perto de Jesus e perguntaram: — Por que é que nós e os
15 Jesus replied, “Can wedding guests be sad while the groom is still with them? The time will come when the groom will be taken away from them. Then they will fast.
15 Jesus respondeu:
16 “No one patches an old coat with a new piece of cloth that will shrink. When the patch shrinks, it will rip away from the coat, and the tear will become worse.
16 — Ninguém usa um retalho de pano novo para remendar uma roupa velha; pois o remendo novo encolhe e rasga a roupa velha, aumentando o buraco.
17 Nor do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins burst, the wine runs out, and the skins are ruined. Rather, people pour new wine into fresh skins, and both are saved.”
17 Ninguém põe vinho novo em
18 A ⌞synagogue⌟ leader came to Jesus while he was talking to John’s disciples. He bowed down in front of Jesus and said, “My daughter just died. Come, lay your hand on her, and she will live.”
18 Enquanto Jesus estava falando ao povo, um chefe religioso chegou perto dele, ajoelhou-se e disse: — A minha filha morreu agora mesmo! Venha e ponha as mãos sobre ela para que viva de novo.
19 Jesus and his disciples got up and followed the man.
19 Então Jesus foi com ele, e os seus discípulos também foram.
20 Then a woman came up behind Jesus and touched the edge of his clothes. She had been suffering from chronic bleeding for twelve years.
20 Certa mulher, que fazia doze anos que estava com uma hemorragia, veio por trás de Jesus e tocou na barra da capa dele.
21 She thought, “If I only touch his clothes, I’ll get well.”
21 Pois ela pensava assim: “Se eu apenas tocar na capa dele, ficarei curada.”
22 When Jesus turned and saw her he said, “Cheer up, daughter! Your faith has made you well.” At that very moment the woman became well.
22 Jesus virou, viu a mulher e disse: E naquele momento a mulher ficou curada.
23 Jesus came to the ⌞synagogue⌟ leader’s house. He saw flute players and a noisy crowd.
23 Depois Jesus foi para a casa do chefe religioso. Quando viu os que tocavam música fúnebre e viu a multidão numa confusão geral,
24 He said to them, “Leave! The girl is not dead. She’s sleeping.” But they laughed at him.
24 disse: Então começaram a caçoar dele.
25 When the crowd had been put outside, Jesus went in, took her hand, and the girl came back to life.
25 Logo que a multidão saiu, Jesus entrou no quarto em que a menina estava, pegou-a pela mão, e ela se levantou.
26 The news about this spread throughout that region.
26 E a notícia a respeito disso se espalhou por toda aquela região.
27 When Jesus left that place, two blind men followed him. They shouted, “Have mercy on us, Son of David.”
27 Jesus saiu daquele lugar, e no caminho dois cegos começaram a segui-lo, gritando: —
28 Jesus went into a house, and the blind men followed him. He said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?”
28 Assim que Jesus entrou em casa, os cegos chegaram perto dele. Então ele perguntou: — Sim, senhor! Nós cremos! — responderam eles.
29 He touched their eyes and said, “What you have believed will be done for you!”
29 Jesus tocou nos olhos deles e disse:
30 Then they could see.
30 E os olhos deles ficaram curados. Aí Jesus ordenou com severidade:
31 But they went out and spread the news about him throughout that region.
31 Porém eles foram embora e espalharam as notícias a respeito de Jesus por toda aquela região.
32 As they were leaving, some people brought a man to Jesus. The man was unable to talk because he was possessed by a demon.
32 Quando eles foram embora, algumas pessoas levaram a Jesus um homem que não podia falar porque estava dominado por um demônio.
33 But as soon as the demon was forced out, the man began to speak.
33 Logo que o demônio foi expulso, o homem começou a falar. Todos ficaram admirados e afirmavam: — Nunca vimos em Israel uma coisa assim!
34 But the Pharisees said, “He forces demons out of people with the help of the ruler of demons.”
34 Mas os fariseus diziam: — O chefe dos demônios é quem dá a esse homem poder para expulsar demônios.
35 Jesus went to all the towns and villages. He taught in the synagogues and spread the Good News of the kingdom. He also cured every disease and sickness.
35 Jesus andava visitando todas as cidades e povoados. Ele ensinava nas sinagogas , anunciava a boa notícia sobre o Reino e curava todo tipo de enfermidades e doenças graves das pessoas.
36 When he saw the crowds, he felt sorry for them. They were troubled and helpless like sheep without a shepherd.
36 Quando Jesus viu a multidão, ficou com muita pena daquela gente porque eles estavam aflitos e abandonados, como ovelhas sem pastor.
37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is large, but the workers are few.
37 Então disse aos discípulos:
38 So ask the Lord who gives this harvest to send workers to harvest his crops.”
38 Peçam ao dono da plantação que mande mais trabalhadores para fazerem a colheita.
