1 After Ehud died, the people of Israel again did what the Lord considered evil.
1 E os filhos de Israel fizeram novamente o mal aos olhos do SENHOR, quando Eúde morreu.
2 So the Lord used King Jabin of Canaan, who ruled at Hazor, to defeat them. The commander of King Jabin’s army was Sisera, who lived at Harosheth Haggoyim.
2 E o SENHOR os vendeu à mão de Jabim, rei de Canaã, que reinou em Hazor; o capitão de seu exército era Sísera, que habitava em Harosete dos gentios.
3 The people of Israel cried out to the Lord for help. King Jabin had 900 chariots made of iron and had cruelly oppressed Israel for 20 years.
3 E os filhos de Israel clamaram ao SENHOR; pois ele tinha novecentas carruagens de ferro; e por vinte anos ele oprimiu poderosamente os filhos de Israel.
4 Deborah, wife of Lappidoth, was a prophet. She was the judge in Israel at that time.
4 E Débora, uma profetisa, esposa de Lapidote, julgava Israel naquele tempo.
5 She used to sit under the Palm Tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the mountains of Ephraim. The people of Israel would come to her for legal decisions.
5 E ela habitava debaixo da palmeira de Débora, entre Ramá e Betel, no monte Efraim; e os filhos de Israel subiam até ela para juízo.
6 Deborah summoned Barak, son of Abinoam, from Kedesh in Naphtali. She told him, “The Lord God of Israel has given you this order: ‘Gather troops on Mount Tabor. Take 10,000 men from Naphtali and Zebulun with you.
6 E ela mandou chamar Baraque, o filho de Abinoão, para que saísse de Quedes-Naftali, e lhe disse: O SENHOR Deus de Israel não ordenou, dizendo: Vai e te aproxima em direção ao monte Tabor, e leva contigo dez mil homens dos filhos de Naftali e dos filhos de Zebulom?
7 I will lead Sisera (the commander of Jabin’s army), his chariots, and troops to you at the Kishon River. I will hand him over to you.’ ”
7 E aproximarei de ti, do rio Quisom, Sísera, o capitão do exército de Jabim, com suas carruagens e a sua multidão; e o entregarei na tua mão.
8 Barak said to her, “If you go with me, I’ll go. But if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.”
8 E Baraque lhe disse: Se tu fores comigo, então irei; mas se tu não fores comigo, então não irei.
9 Deborah replied, “Certainly, I’ll go with you. But you won’t win any honors for the way you’re going about this, because the Lord will use a woman to defeat Sisera.”
9 E ela disse: Certamente irei contigo; todavia a jornada que tu empreendes não será para tua honra, pois o SENHOR venderá Sísera à mão de uma mulher. E Débora se levantou, e foi com Baraque até Quedes.
10 Barak called the tribes of Zebulun and Naphtali together at Kedesh. Ten thousand men went to fight under his command. Deborah also went along with him.
10 E Baraque chamou Zebulom e Naftali a Quedes; e ele subiu com dez mil homens aos seus pés; e Débora subiu com ele.
11 Heber the Kenite had separated from the other Kenites (the descendants of Hobab, Moses’ father-in-law). Heber went as far away as the oak tree at Zaanannim near Kedesh and set up his tent.
11 Ora, Heber, o queneu, que era dos filhos de Hobabe, o cunhado de Moisés, havia se separado dos queneus e armado a sua tenda na direção da planície de Zaananim, que está junto a Quedes.
12 The report reached Sisera that Barak, son of Abinoam, had come to fight at Mount Tabor.
12 E eles mostraram a Sísera que Baraque, filho de Abinoão, havia subido ao monte Tabor.
13 So Sisera summoned all his chariots (900 chariots made of iron) and all his troops from Harosheth Haggoyim to come to the Kishon River.
13 E Sísera reuniu todas as suas carruagens, novecentas carruagens de ferro, e todo o povo que estava com ele, desde Harosete dos gentios até o rio de Quisom.
14 Then Deborah said to Barak, “Attack! This is the day the Lord will hand Sisera over to you. The Lord will go ahead of you.”
14 E Débora disse a Baraque: Levanta-te, pois este é o dia em que o SENHOR entregou Sísera na tua mão; não saiu o SENHOR diante de ti? Então Baraque desceu do monte Tabor, e dez mil homens após ele.
15 The Lord threw Sisera, all his chariots, and his whole army into a panic in front of Barak’s deadly assault. Sisera got down from his chariot and fled on foot.
15 E o SENHOR derrotou Sísera, e todas as suas carruagens, e todo o seu exército, com o fio da espada diante de Baraque; então Sísera desceu da sua carruagem, e fugiu a pé.
16 Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth Haggoyim. So Sisera’s whole army was killed in combat. Not one man survived.
16 Mas Baraque perseguiu as carruagens, e o exército, até Harosete dos gentios; e todo o exército de Sísera caiu ao fio da espada; e não restou um homem sequer.
17 Meanwhile, Sisera fled on foot toward the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. Sisera did this because King Jabin of Hazor and Heber’s family were on peaceful terms.
17 Sísera, todavia, fugiu a pé para a tenda de Jael, esposa de Héber, o queneu; pois havia paz entre Jabim, o rei de Hazor, e a casa de Héber, o queneu.
18 When Jael came out ⌞of her tent⌟, she met Sisera. She told him, “Sir, come in here! Come into my tent. Don’t be afraid.” So he went into her tent, and she hid him under a tent curtain.
18 E Jael saiu ao encontro de Sísera, e lhe disse: Volta-te, meu senhor, volta-te para mim; não temas. E quando ele voltou-se para ela, dentro da tenda, ela o cobriu com um manto.
19 Sisera said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink. I’m thirsty.” But instead she gave him milk to drink and covered him up again.
19 E ele disse a ela: Dá-me, rogo-te, um pouco de água para beber, pois tenho sede. E ela abriu uma garrafa de leite, e lhe deu de beber, e o cobriu.
20 He said to her, “Stand at the door of the tent. If anyone comes and asks if there has been a man around here, tell them no.”
20 Ele voltou a dizer-lhe: Põe-te de pé à porta da tenda, e será que, quando qualquer homem vier e te perguntar: Há algum homem aqui? Tu dirás: Não.
21 When Sisera had fallen sound asleep from exhaustion, Jael, Heber’s wife, took a tent peg and walked quietly toward him with a hammer in her hand. She hammered the tent peg through his temples into the ground. So Sisera died.
21 Então Jael, esposa de Héber, pegou um cravo da tenda, e pegou um martelo em sua mão, e foi delicadamente até ele, e golpeou o cravo nas suas têmporas, e o prendeu no solo; pois ele estava em sono profundo e exausto. Então ele morreu.
22 Barak was still pursuing Sisera. When Jael came out ⌞of her tent⌟, she met him. She said to him, “Come in! I have something to show you—the man you’ve been looking for.” So Barak went into her tent. He saw Sisera lying there dead with the tent peg through his temples.
22 E, eis que, enquanto Baraque perseguia Sísera, Jael saiu para encontrá-lo, e lhe disse: Vem e te mostrarei o homem a quem buscas. E quando ele entrou na sua tenda, eis que Sísera jazia morto, e o cravo estava nas suas têmporas.
23 So on that day, God used the people of Israel to crush the power of King Jabin of Canaan.
23 Assim Deus subjugou, naquele dia, Jabim, rei de Canaã, diante dos filhos de Israel.
24 The Israelites became stronger and stronger until they destroyed him.
24 E a mão dos filhos de Israel prosperou, e prevaleceu contra Jabim, o rei de Canaã, até que eles destruíram Jabim, rei de Canaã.
