GOD'S WORD (ENGGW) vs NVI
1 Joash was 7 years old when he began to rule, and he ruled for 40 years in Jerusalem. His mother was Zibiah from Beersheba.
1 Joás tinha sete anos de idade quando se tornou rei, e reinou quarenta anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Zíbia; ela era de Berseba.
2 Joash did what the Lord considered right, as long as the priest Jehoiada lived.
2 Joás fez o que o Senhor aprova enquanto viveu o sacerdote Joiada.
3 Jehoiada got Joash two wives, and Joash had sons and daughters.
3 Joiada escolheu para ele duas mulheres, e ele teve filhos e filhas.
4 After this, Joash wanted to renovate the Lord’s temple.
4 Algum tempo depois Joás decidiu fazer reparos no templo do Senhor.
5 He gathered the priests and the Levites and said to them, “Go to the cities of Judah, and collect money throughout Israel to repair the temple of your God every year. Do it immediately!” But the Levites didn’t do it immediately.
5 Ele reuniu os sacerdotes e os levitas e lhes disse: "Vão às cidades de Judá e recolham o imposto devido anualmente por todo o Israel, para fazer reparos no templo de seu Deus. Vão agora mesmo! " Os levitas, porém, não agiram imediatamente.
6 So the king called for the chief priest Jehoiada and asked him, “Why didn’t you require the Levites to bring the contributions from Judah and Jerusalem? The Lord’s servant Moses and the assembly had required Israel to give contributions for the use of the tent containing the words of God’s promise.”
6 Por isso, o rei convocou Joiada, o sumo sacerdote, e lhe perguntou: "Por que você não exigiu que os levitas trouxessem de Judá e de Jerusalém o imposto determinado por Moisés, servo do Senhor, e pela assembléia de Israel para a tenda da arca da aliança? "
7 (The sons of that wicked woman Athaliah had broken into God’s temple and used all the holy things of the Lord’s temple ⌞to worship⌟ other gods—the Baals.)
7 De fato, Atalia, aquela mulher ímpia, e os seus filhos tinham arrombado o templo de Deus e tinham até usado os seus objetos sagrados para cultuar os baalins.
8 The king issued an order, and they made a box and placed it outside the gate of the Lord’s temple.
8 Então, por ordem do rei, fizeram uma caixa e a colocaram do lado de fora, à entrada do templo do Senhor.
9 Then they issued a proclamation in Judah and Jerusalem that the contributions should be brought to the Lord. (In the desert the Lord’s servant Moses had required Israel to make contributions.)
9 Fez-se então uma proclamação em Judá e em Jerusalém para que trouxessem ao Senhor o imposto que Moisés, servo do Senhor, havia exigido de Israel no deserto.
10 All the officials and all the people were overjoyed. They brought the money and dropped it into the box until it was full.
10 Todos os líderes e todo o povo trouxeram com alegria as suas contribuições, colocando-as na caixa até enchê-la.
11 Whenever the Levites brought the box to the king’s officers and they saw a lot of money, the king’s scribe and the chief priest’s officer would empty the box and put it back in its place. They would do this every day, so they collected a lot of money.
11 Sempre que os levitas levavam a caixa até os supervisores do rei, e esses viam que havia muita prata, o secretário real e o oficial do sumo sacerdote esvaziavam-na e a levavam de volta. Fazendo isso regularmente, ajuntaram uma grande quantidade de prata.
12 The king and Jehoiada would give the money to the foremen who were working on the Lord’s temple, and they hired masons and carpenters to renovate the Lord’s temple. They also hired men who worked with iron and bronze to repair the Lord’s temple.
12 O rei e Joiada entregavam essa prata aos homens que executavam os trabalhos necessários no templo do Senhor. Eles contratavam pedreiros, carpinteiros e também operários que trabalham em ferro e em bronze para restaurarem o templo do Senhor.
13 As the men worked, the project progressed under the foremen’s guidance. They restored God’s temple to its proper condition and reinforced it.
13 Os homens encarregados do trabalho eram diligentes, o que garantiu o progresso da obra de reforma. Eles reconstruíram o templo de Deus de acordo com o modelo original e o reforçaram.
14 When they finished, they brought the rest of the money to the king and Jehoiada, who used it to make utensils for the Lord’s temple. They made dishes and gold and silver utensils for the service and for the offerings. As long as Jehoiada lived, they sacrificed burnt offerings in the Lord’s temple.
14 Quando terminaram, trouxeram o restante da prata ao rei e a Joiada, e com ela foram feitos utensílios para o templo do Senhor; utensílios para o serviço e para os holocaustos, além de tigelas e outros objetos de ouro e prata. Enquanto Joiada viveu, holocaustos foram apresentados continuamente no templo do Senhor.
15 When Jehoiada was old and had lived out his years, he died. He was 130 years old when he died.
15 Joiada chegou à idade avançada, e morreu com cento e trinta anos.
16 He was buried in the City of David with the kings because of the good he had done in Israel for God and the temple.
16 Ele foi sepultado com os reis na cidade de Davi, em atenção ao bem que havia feito em Israel em favor de Deus e do seu templo.
17 After he died, the officials of Judah bowed in front of the king with their faces touching the ground. Then the king listened to their advice.
17 Depois da morte de Joiada, os líderes de Judá foram falar com o rei e lhe prestaram reverências, e ele aceitou o que disseram.
18 They abandoned the temple of the Lord God of their ancestors and worshiped idols and the poles dedicated to the goddess Asherah. This offense of theirs brought God’s anger upon Judah and Jerusalem.
18 Então abandonaram o templo do Senhor, o Deus dos seus antepassados, e prestaram culto aos postes sagrados e aos ídolos. Por culpa deles, a ira de Deus veio sobre Judá e Jerusalém.
19 The Lord sent them prophets to bring them back to himself. The prophets warned them, but they wouldn’t listen.
19 Embora o Senhor tivesse enviado profetas ao povo para trazê-los de volta para ele e os profetas tivessem testemunhado contra eles, o povo não quis ouvi-los.
20 God’s Spirit gave Zechariah, son of the priest Jehoiada, strength. Zechariah stood in front of the people and said to them, “This is what God says: Why are you breaking the Lord’s commands? You won’t prosper that way! The Lord has abandoned you because you have abandoned him.”
20 Então o Espírito de Deus apoderou-se de Zacarias, filho do sacerdote Joiada. Ele se colocou diante do povo e disse: "Isto é o que Deus diz: ‘Por que vocês desobedecem aos mandamentos do Senhor? Vocês não prosperarão. Já que abandonaram o Senhor, ele os abandonará’ ".
21 But they plotted against Zechariah, and by the king’s order they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the Lord’s temple.
21 Mas, alguns conspiraram contra ele e, por ordem do rei, apedrejaram-no até à morte no pátio do templo do Senhor.
22 King Joash did not remember how kind Zechariah’s father, Jehoiada, had been to him. Instead, he killed Jehoiada’s son. As Zechariah died, he said, “May the Lord see ⌞this⌟ and get revenge!”
22 O rei Joás não levou em conta que Joiada, pai de Zacarias, tinha sido bondoso com ele, e matou o seu filho. Este, ao morrer, exclamou: "Veja isto o Senhor e faça justiça! "
23 At the end of the year, the Aramean army attacked Joash. They came to Judah and Jerusalem and destroyed all the people’s leaders. The Arameans sent all the loot they took from Judah and Jerusalem to the king of Damascus.
23 Na virada do ano, o exército arameu marchou contra Joás; invadiu Judá e Jerusalém, matou todos os líderes do povo, e enviou para Damasco, para o seu rei, tudo o que saqueou.
24 The Aramean army had come with a small number of men, but the Lord handed Joash’s large army over to them because Joash’s soldiers had abandoned the Lord God of their ancestors. So the Arameans carried out ⌞the \+nd Lord\+nd*’s⌟ judgment on Joash.
24 Embora o exército arameu fosse pequeno, o Senhor entregou nas mãos dele um exército muito maior, por haver Judá abandonado o Senhor, o Deus dos seus antepassados. Assim o juízo foi executado sobre Joás.
25 When the Arameans withdrew, they left him suffering from many wounds. His own officials plotted against him for murdering the son of the priest Jehoiada. They killed Joash in his bed. When he died, they buried him in the City of David, but they didn’t bury him in the tombs of the kings.
25 Quando os arameus foram embora, deixaram Joás seriamente ferido. Seus oficiais conspiraram contra ele, porque ele tinha assassinado o filho do sacerdote Joiada, e o mataram em sua cama. Assim ele morreu e foi sepultado na cidade de Davi, mas não nos túmulos dos reis.
26 These were the men who conspired against him: Zabad, son of an Ammonite woman named Shimeath, and Jehozabad, son of a Moabite woman named Shimrith.
26 Os que conspiraram contra ele foram Zabade, filho da amonita Simeate, e Jeozabade, filho da moabita Sinrite.
27 The record about his sons, the many divine revelations against him, and the rebuilding of God’s temple is in the notes made in the Book of the Kings. His son Amaziah succeeded him as king.
27 Quanto a seus filhos, às muitas profecias a seu respeito e ao relato da restauração do templo, tudo está escrito nas anotações dos livros dos reis. E seu filho Amazias foi o seu sucessor.
