GOD'S WORD (ENGGW) vs VC
1 From Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and from Sosthenes, our brother in the Christian faith.
1 Paulo, apóstolo de Jesus Cristo por chamamento e vontade de Deus, e o irmão Sóstenes,
2 To God’s church that was made holy by Christ Jesus and called to be God’s holy people in the city of Corinth and to people everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 à igreja de Deus que está em Corinto, aos fiéis santificados em Jesus Cristo, chamados à santidade, juntamente com todos os que, em qualquer lugar que estejam, invocam o nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, Senhor deles e nosso;
3 Good will and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ are yours!
3 a vós, graça e paz da parte de Deus, nosso Pai, e da parte do Senhor Jesus Cristo!
4 I always thank God for you because Christ Jesus has shown you God’s good will.
4 Não cesso de agradecer a Deus por vós, pela graça divina que vos foi dada em Jesus Cristo.
5 Through Christ Jesus you have become rich in every way—in speech and knowledge of every kind.
5 Nele fostes ricamente contemplados com todos os dons, com os da palavra e os da ciência,
6 Our message about Christ has been verified among you.
6 tão solidamente foi confirmado em vós o testemunho de Cristo.
7 Therefore, you don’t lack any gift as you wait eagerly for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.
7 Assim, enquanto aguardais a manifestação de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, não vos falta dom algum.
8 He will continue to give you strength until the end so that no one can accuse you of anything on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
8 Ele há de vos confirmar até o fim, para que sejais irrepreensíveis no dia de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
9 God faithfully keeps his promises. He called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
9 Fiel é Deus, por quem fostes chamados à comunhão de seu Filho Jesus Cristo, nosso Senhor.
10 Brothers and sisters, I encourage all of you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to agree with each other and not to split into opposing groups. I want you to be united in your understanding and opinions.
10 Rogo-vos, irmãos, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que todos estejais em pleno acordo e que não haja entre vós divisões. Vivei em boa harmonia, no mesmo espírito e no mesmo sentimento.
11 Brothers and sisters, some people from Chloe’s family have made it clear to me that you are quarreling among yourselves.
11 Pois acerca de vós, irmãos meus, fui informado pelos que são da casa de Cloé, que há contendas entre vós.
12 This is what I mean: Each of you is saying, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.”
12 Refiro-me ao fato de que entre vós se usa esta linguagem: Eu sou discípulo de Paulo; eu, de Apolo; eu, de Cefas; eu, de Cristo.
13 Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in Paul’s name?
13 Então estaria Cristo dividido? É Paulo quem foi crucificado por vós? É em nome de Paulo que fostes batizados?
14 I thank God that I didn’t baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius
14 Graças a Deus, não batizei nenhum de vós, à exceção de Crispo e Gaio.
15 so that no one can say you were baptized in my name.
15 Assim ninguém poderá dizer que fostes batizados em meu nome.
16 I also baptized Stephanas and his family. Beyond that, I’m not sure whether I baptized anyone else.
16 {Aliás, batizei também a família de Estéfanas. Além destes, não me consta ter batizado ninguém mais.}
17 Christ didn’t send me to baptize. Instead, he sent me to spread the Good News. I didn’t use intellectual arguments. That would have made the cross of Christ lose its meaning.
17 Cristo não me enviou para batizar, mas para pregar o Evangelho; e isso sem recorrer à habilidade da arte oratória, para que não se desvirtue a cruz de Cristo.
18 The message about the cross is nonsense to those who are being destroyed, but it is God’s power to us who are being saved.
18 A linguagem da cruz é loucura para os que se perdem, mas, para os que foram salvos, para nós, é uma força divina.
19 Scripture says,
19 Está escrito: Destruirei a sabedoria dos sábios, e anularei a prudência dos prudentes {Is 29,14}.
20 Where is the wise person? Where is the scholar? Where is the persuasive speaker of our time? Hasn’t God turned the wisdom of the world into nonsense?
20 Onde está o sábio? Onde o erudito? Onde o argumentador deste mundo? Acaso não declarou Deus por loucura a sabedoria deste mundo?
21 The world with its wisdom was unable to recognize God in terms of his own wisdom. So God decided to use the nonsense of the Good News we speak to save those who believe.
21 Já que o mundo, com a sua sabedoria, não reconheceu a Deus na sabedoria divina, aprouve a Deus salvar os que crêem pela loucura de sua mensagem.
22 Jews ask for miraculous signs, and Greeks look for wisdom,
22 Os judeus pedem milagres, os gregos reclamam a sabedoria;
23 but our message is that Christ was crucified. This offends Jewish people and makes no sense to people who are not Jewish.
23 mas nós pregamos Cristo crucificado, escândalo para os judeus e loucura para os pagãos;
24 But to those Jews and Greeks who are called, he is Christ, God’s power and God’s wisdom.
24 mas, para os eleitos - quer judeus quer gregos -, força de Deus e sabedoria de Deus.
25 God’s nonsense is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.
25 Pois a loucura de Deus é mais sábia do que os homens, e a fraqueza de Deus é mais forte do que os homens.
26 Brothers and sisters, consider what you were when God called you to be Christians. Not many of you were wise from a human point of view. You were not in powerful positions or in the upper social classes.
26 Vede, irmãos, o vosso grupo de eleitos: não há entre vós muitos sábios, humanamente falando, nem muitos poderosos, nem muitos nobres.
27 But God chose what the world considers nonsense to put wise people to shame. God chose what the world considers weak to put what is strong to shame.
27 O que é estulto no mundo, Deus o escolheu para confundir os sábios; e o que é fraco no mundo, Deus o escolheu para confundir os fortes;
28 God chose what the world considers ordinary and what it despises—what it considers to be nothing—in order to destroy what it considers to be something.
28 e o que é vil e desprezível no mundo, Deus o escolheu, como também aquelas coisas que nada são, para destruir as que são.
29 As a result, no one can brag in God’s presence.
29 Assim, nenhuma criatura se vangloriará diante de Deus.
30 You are partners with Christ Jesus because of God. Jesus has become our wisdom sent from God, our approval, our holiness, and our ransom from sin.
30 É por sua graça que estais em Jesus Cristo, que, da parte de Deus, se tornou para nós sabedoria, justiça, santificação e redenção,
31 As Scripture says, “Whoever brags must brag about what the Lord has done.”
31 para que, como está escrito: quem se gloria, glorie-se no Senhor {Jr 9,23}.
