¹ “A psalm of the steps, or the goings up.” Much have they afflicted me from my youth, May Israel now say;

¹ Muitas vezes me oprimiram desde a minha juventude; que Israel o repita:

² Much have they afflicted me from my youth, Yet have they not prevailed against me.

² muitas vezes me oprimiram desde a minha juventude, mas jamais conseguiram vencer-me.

³ The ploughers ploughed up my back; They made long their furrows;

³ Passaram o arado em minhas costas e fizeram longos sulcos.

⁴ But the LORD was righteous; He cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

⁴ O Senhor é justo! Ele libertou-me das algemas dos ímpios.

⁵ Let all be driven back with shame Who hate Zion!

⁵ Retrocedam envergonhados todos os que odeiam Sião.

⁶ Let them be as grass upon the house-tops, Which withereth before one pulleth it up;

⁶ Sejam como o capim do terraço, que seca antes de crescer,

⁷ With which the reaper filleth not his hand, Nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom!

⁷ que não enche as mãos do ceifeiro nem os braços daquele que faz os fardos.

⁸ And they who pass by do not say, “The blessing of the LORD be upon you! We bless you in the name of the LORD!”

⁸ E que ninguém que passa diga: "Seja sobre vocês a bênção do Senhor; nós os abençoamos em nome do Senhor! "
