1 Esta é a mensagem que o Senhor Deus deu a Sofonias, no tempo em que Josias, filho de Amom, era rei de Judá. Sofonias era filho de Cusi, neto de Gedalias, bisneto de Amarias e trineto do rei Ezequias.
2 I will utterly|strong="H0622" consume|strong="H5486" all things from off the land|strong="H6440", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
2 O Senhor Deus diz: — Vou acabar com tudo o que existe na terra,
3 I will consume|strong="H5486" man|strong="H0120" and beast|strong="H0929"; I will consume|strong="H5486" the fowls|strong="H5775" of the heaven|strong="H8064", and the fishes|strong="H1709" of the sea|strong="H3220", and the stumblingblocks|strong="H4384" with the wicked|strong="H7563"; and I will cut off|strong="H3772" man|strong="H0120" from off|strong="H6440" the land|strong="H0127", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
3 isto é, as pessoas, os animais, as aves e os peixes. Eu vou castigar os maus. Acabarei completamente com os seres humanos.
4 I will also stretch out|strong="H5186" mine hand|strong="H3027" upon Judah|strong="H3063", and upon all the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389"; and I will cut off|strong="H3772" the remnant|strong="H7605" of Baal|strong="H1168" from this place|strong="H4725", and the name|strong="H8034" of the Chemarims|strong="H3649" with the priests|strong="H3548";
4 — Castigarei o povo da terra de Judá e os moradores de Jerusalém. Farei desaparecer de Jerusalém o que ainda resta da adoração a Baal , e todos esquecerão os sacerdotes que serviam esse deus pagão.
5 And them that worship|strong="H7812" the host|strong="H6635" of heaven|strong="H8064" upon the housetops|strong="H1406"; and them that worship|strong="H7812" and that swear|strong="H7650" by the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and that swear|strong="H7650" by Malcham|strong="H4428";
5 Acabarei com todos os que sobem ao terraço, em cima das suas casas, e ali adoram o sol, a lua e as estrelas. E acabarei também com qualquer pessoa que adora a mim, o Senhor , e jura pelo meu nome, mas jura também pelo nome do deus Moloque .
6 And them that are turned back|strong="H5472" from|strong="H0310" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; and those that have not sought|strong="H1245" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, nor enquired|strong="H1875" for him.
6 Destruirei todos os que se afastam de mim, que não procuram a minha ajuda, nem querem obedecer às minhas leis .
7 Hold thy peace|strong="H2013" at the presence|strong="H6440" of the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*: for the day|strong="H3117" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is at hand|strong="H7138": for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath prepared|strong="H3559" a sacrifice|strong="H2077", he hath bid|strong="H6942" his guests|strong="H7121".
7 Está chegando o dia em que o Senhor Deus vai julgar o seu povo. Portanto, calem-se todos na sua presença! Ele vai oferecer o seu povo como sacrifício e já convidou os inimigos para o ajudarem a fazer isso.
8 And it shall come to pass in the day|strong="H3117" of the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w* sacrifice|strong="H2077", that I will punish|strong="H6485" the princes|strong="H8269", and the king’s|strong="H4428" children|strong="H1121", and all such as are clothed|strong="H3847" with strange|strong="H5237" apparel|strong="H4403".
8 O Senhor diz: — Naquele dia, eu vou castigar as autoridades, os filhos do rei e todos os que seguem costumes pagãos.
9 In the same day|strong="H3117" also will I punish|strong="H6485" all those that leap|strong="H1801" on the threshold|strong="H4670", which fill|strong="H4390" their masters’|strong="H0113" houses|strong="H1004" with violence|strong="H2555" and deceit|strong="H4820".
9 Castigarei também todos os que me adoram como os pagãos adoram os seus deuses e aqueles que enchem o templo do seu deus com presentes que ajuntaram por meio de roubo e violência.
10 And it shall come to pass in that day|strong="H3117", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that there shall be the noise|strong="H6963" of a cry|strong="H6818" from the fish|strong="H1709" gate|strong="H8179", and an howling|strong="H3215" from the second|strong="H4932", and a great|strong="H1419" crashing|strong="H7667" from the hills|strong="H1389".
10 — Naquele dia, haverá gritos de dor perto do Portão dos Peixes, na cidade de Jerusalém. Haverá gente gritando por socorro no bairro novo da cidade, e nos montes se ouvirão gritos de desespero.
11 Howl|strong="H3213", ye inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Maktesh|strong="H4389", for all the merchant|strong="H3667" people|strong="H5971" are cut down|strong="H1820"; all they that bear|strong="H5187" silver|strong="H3701" are cut off|strong="H3772".
11 Chorem também, vocês que moram na cidade baixa, pois todos os comerciantes serão mortos!
12 And it shall come to pass at that time|strong="H6256", that I will search|strong="H2664" Jerusalem|strong="H3389" with candles|strong="H5216", and punish|strong="H6485" the men|strong="H0582" that are settled|strong="H7087" on their lees|strong="H8105": that say|strong="H0559" in their heart|strong="H3824", The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will not do good|strong="H3190", neither will he do evil|strong="H7489".
12 — Naquele dia, eu vou pegar lamparinas e revistar a cidade de Jerusalém. Castigarei todos os que estão tranquilos e satisfeitos, os que pensam assim: “O Senhor Deus não vai fazer nada; não vai salvar, nem castigar.”
13 Therefore their goods|strong="H2428" shall become a booty|strong="H4933", and their houses|strong="H1004" a desolation|strong="H8077": they shall also build|strong="H1129" houses|strong="H1004", but not inhabit|strong="H3427" them; and they shall plant|strong="H5193" vineyards|strong="H3754", but not drink|strong="H8354" the wine|strong="H3196" thereof.
13 Por isso, os bens deles serão roubados, e as suas casas serão destruídas. Eles construirão outras, mas não morarão nelas; farão plantações de uvas, mas não beberão o vinho.
14 The great|strong="H1419" day|strong="H3117" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is near|strong="H7138", it is near|strong="H7138", and hasteth|strong="H4118" greatly|strong="H3966", even the voice|strong="H6963" of the day|strong="H3117" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: the mighty man|strong="H1368" shall cry|strong="H6873" there bitterly|strong="H4751".
14 O grande Dia do Senhor está perto e vem chegando depressa! Será um dia terrível, em que até os soldados mais valentes gritarão de medo.
15 That day|strong="H3117" is a day|strong="H3117" of wrath|strong="H5678", a day|strong="H3117" of trouble|strong="H6869" and distress|strong="H4691", a day|strong="H3117" of wasteness|strong="H7722" and desolation|strong="H4875", a day|strong="H3117" of darkness|strong="H2822" and gloominess|strong="H0653", a day|strong="H3117" of clouds|strong="H6051" and thick darkness|strong="H6205",
15 Será um dia de ira , um dia de aflição e angústia, de ruína e destruição, de escuridão e trevas; será um dia de nuvens escuras e pesadas.
16 A day|strong="H3117" of the trumpet|strong="H7782" and alarm|strong="H8643" against the fenced|strong="H1219" cities|strong="H5892", and against the high|strong="H1364" towers|strong="H6438".
16 Será um dia de sons de corneta e de gritos de batalha de soldados atacando cidades cercadas de muralhas e protegidas por altas torres de vigia.
17 And I will bring distress|strong="H6887" upon men|strong="H0120", that they shall walk|strong="H1980" like blind men|strong="H5787", because they have sinned|strong="H2398" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: and their blood|strong="H1818" shall be poured out|strong="H8210" as dust|strong="H6083", and their flesh|strong="H3894" as the dung|strong="H1561".
17 O Senhor diz: — Farei cair tantas desgraças sobre as pessoas, que elas andarão de um lado para outro como se estivessem cegas. Essa gente pecou contra mim, e por isso o seu sangue será derramado como água, e os seus corpos serão jogados fora como lixo.
18 Neither their silver|strong="H3701" nor their gold|strong="H2091" shall be able|strong="H3201" to deliver|strong="H5337" them in the day|strong="H3117" of the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w* wrath|strong="H5678"; but the whole land|strong="H0776" shall be devoured|strong="H0398" by the fire|strong="H0784" of his jealousy|strong="H7068": for he shall make|strong="H6213" even a speedy|strong="H0926" riddance|strong="H3617" of all them that dwell|strong="H3427" in the land|strong="H0776".
18 Naquele dia, nem prata nem ouro os poderão salvar da ira de Deus, o Senhor . O fogo da sua ira furiosa destruirá o mundo inteiro. Ninguém escapará, pois Deus vai acabar de uma só vez com todos os moradores da terra.
