Neemias 9

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Now in the twenty|strong="H6242" and fourth|strong="H0702" day|strong="H3117" of this month|strong="H2320" the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" were assembled|strong="H0622" with fasting|strong="H6685", and with sackclothes|strong="H8242", and earth|strong="H0127" upon them.

And the seed|strong="H2233" of Israel|strong="H3478" separated|strong="H0914" themselves from all strangers|strong="H1121", and stood|strong="H5975" and confessed|strong="H3034" their sins|strong="H2403", and the iniquities|strong="H5771" of their fathers|strong="H0001".

And they stood up|strong="H6965" in their place|strong="H5977", and read|strong="H7121" in the book|strong="H5612" of the law|strong="H8451" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430" one fourth part|strong="H7243" of the day|strong="H3117"; and another fourth part|strong="H7243" they confessed|strong="H3034", and worshipped|strong="H7812" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430".

Then stood up|strong="H6965" upon the stairs|strong="H4608", of the Levites|strong="H3881", Jeshua|strong="H3442", and Bani|strong="H1137", Kadmiel|strong="H6934", Shebaniah|strong="H7645", Bunni|strong="H1138", Sherebiah|strong="H8274", Bani|strong="H1137", and Chenani|strong="H3662", and cried|strong="H2199" with a loud|strong="H1419" voice|strong="H6963" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430".

Then the Levites|strong="H3881", Jeshua|strong="H3442", and Kadmiel|strong="H6934", Bani|strong="H1137", Hashabniah|strong="H2813", Sherebiah|strong="H8274", Hodijah|strong="H1941", Shebaniah|strong="H7645", and Pethahiah|strong="H6611", said|strong="H0559", Stand up|strong="H6965" and bless|strong="H1288" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430" for ever|strong="H5769" and ever|strong="H5769": and blessed|strong="H1288" be thy glorious|strong="H3519" name|strong="H8034", which is exalted|strong="H7311" above all blessing|strong="H1293" and praise|strong="H8416".

Thou, even thou, art \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* alone; thou hast made|strong="H6213" heaven|strong="H8064", the heaven|strong="H8064" of heavens|strong="H8064", with all their host|strong="H6635", the earth|strong="H0776", and all things that are therein, the seas|strong="H3220", and all that is therein, and thou preservest|strong="H2421" them all; and the host|strong="H6635" of heaven|strong="H8064" worshippeth|strong="H7812" thee.

Thou art the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* the God|strong="H0430", who didst choose|strong="H0977" Abram|strong="H0087", and broughtest him forth|strong="H3318" out of Ur|strong="H0218" of the Chaldees|strong="H3778", and gavest|strong="H7760" him the name|strong="H8034" of Abraham|strong="H0085";

And foundest|strong="H4672" his heart|strong="H3824" faithful|strong="H0539" before|strong="H6440" thee, and madest|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" with him to give|strong="H5414" the land|strong="H0776" of the Canaanites|strong="H3669", the Hittites|strong="H2850", the Amorites|strong="H0567", and the Perizzites|strong="H6522", and the Jebusites|strong="H2983", and the Girgashites|strong="H1622", to give|strong="H5414" it, I say, to his seed|strong="H2233", and hast performed|strong="H6965" thy words|strong="H1697"; for thou art righteous|strong="H6662":

And didst see|strong="H7200" the affliction|strong="H6040" of our fathers|strong="H0001" in Egypt|strong="H4714", and heardest|strong="H8085" their cry|strong="H2201" by the Red|strong="H5488" sea|strong="H3220";

And shewedst|strong="H5414" signs|strong="H0226" and wonders|strong="H4159" upon Pharaoh|strong="H6547", and on all his servants|strong="H5650", and on all the people|strong="H5971" of his land|strong="H0776": for thou knewest|strong="H3045" that they dealt proudly|strong="H2102" against them. So didst thou get|strong="H6213" thee a name|strong="H8034", as it is this day|strong="H3117".

And thou didst divide|strong="H1234" the sea|strong="H3220" before|strong="H6440" them, so that they went through|strong="H5674" the midst|strong="H8432" of the sea|strong="H3220" on the dry land|strong="H3004"; and their persecutors|strong="H7291" thou threwest|strong="H7993" into the deeps|strong="H4688", as a stone|strong="H0068" into the mighty|strong="H5794" waters|strong="H4325".

Moreover thou leddest|strong="H5148" them in the day|strong="H3119" by a cloudy|strong="H6051" pillar|strong="H5982"; and in the night|strong="H3915" by a pillar|strong="H5982" of fire|strong="H0784", to give them light|strong="H0215" in the way|strong="H1870" wherein they should go|strong="H3212".

Thou camest down|strong="H3381" also upon mount|strong="H2022" Sinai|strong="H5514", and spakest|strong="H1696" with them from heaven|strong="H8064", and gavest|strong="H5414" them right|strong="H3477" judgments|strong="H4941", and true|strong="H0571" laws|strong="H8451", good|strong="H2896" statutes|strong="H2706" and commandments|strong="H4687":

And madest known|strong="H3045" unto them thy holy|strong="H6944" sabbath|strong="H7676", and commandedst|strong="H6680" them precepts|strong="H4687", statutes|strong="H2706", and laws|strong="H8451", by the hand|strong="H3027" of Moses|strong="H4872" thy servant|strong="H5650":

And gavest|strong="H5414" them bread|strong="H3899" from heaven|strong="H8064" for their hunger|strong="H7458", and broughtest forth|strong="H3318" water|strong="H4325" for them out of the rock|strong="H5553" for their thirst|strong="H6772", and promisedst|strong="H0559" them that they should go in|strong="H0935" to possess|strong="H3423" the land|strong="H0776" which thou hadst sworn|strong="H3027" to give|strong="H5414" them.

But they and our fathers|strong="H0001" dealt proudly|strong="H2102", and hardened|strong="H7185" their necks|strong="H6203", and hearkened|strong="H8085" not to thy commandments|strong="H4687",

And refused|strong="H3985" to obey|strong="H8085", neither were mindful|strong="H2142" of thy wonders|strong="H6381" that thou didst|strong="H6213" among them; but hardened|strong="H7185" their necks|strong="H6203", and in their rebellion|strong="H4805" appointed|strong="H5414" a captain|strong="H7218" to return|strong="H7725" to their bondage|strong="H5659": but thou art a God|strong="H0433" ready to pardon|strong="H5547", gracious|strong="H2587" and merciful|strong="H7349", slow|strong="H0750" to anger|strong="H0639", and of great|strong="H7227" kindness|strong="H2617", and forsookest|strong="H5800" them not.

Yea, when they had made|strong="H6213" them a molten|strong="H4541" calf|strong="H5695", and said|strong="H0559", This is thy God|strong="H0430" that brought thee up|strong="H5927" out of Egypt|strong="H4714", and had wrought|strong="H6213" great|strong="H1419" provocations|strong="H5007";

Yet thou in thy manifold|strong="H7227" mercies|strong="H7356" forsookest|strong="H5800" them not in the wilderness|strong="H4057": the pillar|strong="H5982" of the cloud|strong="H6051" departed|strong="H5493" not from them by day|strong="H3119", to lead|strong="H5148" them in the way|strong="H1870"; neither the pillar|strong="H5982" of fire|strong="H0784" by night|strong="H3915", to shew them light|strong="H0215", and the way|strong="H1870" wherein they should go|strong="H3212".

Thou gavest|strong="H5414" also thy good|strong="H2896" spirit|strong="H7307" to instruct|strong="H7919" them, and withheldest|strong="H4513" not thy manna|strong="H4478" from their mouth|strong="H6310", and gavest|strong="H5414" them water|strong="H4325" for their thirst|strong="H6772".

Yea, forty|strong="H0705" years|strong="H8141" didst thou sustain|strong="H3557" them in the wilderness|strong="H4057", so that they lacked|strong="H2637" nothing; their clothes|strong="H8008" waxed not old|strong="H1086", and their feet|strong="H7272" swelled|strong="H1216" not.

Moreover thou gavest|strong="H5414" them kingdoms|strong="H4467" and nations|strong="H5971", and didst divide|strong="H2505" them into corners|strong="H6285": so they possessed|strong="H3423" the land|strong="H0776" of Sihon|strong="H5511", and the land|strong="H0776" of the king|strong="H4428" of Heshbon|strong="H2809", and the land|strong="H0776" of Og|strong="H5747" king|strong="H4428" of Bashan|strong="H1316".

Their children|strong="H1121" also multipliedst|strong="H7235" thou as the stars|strong="H3556" of heaven|strong="H8064", and broughtest|strong="H0935" them into the land|strong="H0776", concerning which thou hadst promised|strong="H0559" to their fathers|strong="H0001", that they should go in|strong="H0935" to possess|strong="H3423" it.

So the children|strong="H1121" went in|strong="H0935" and possessed|strong="H3423" the land|strong="H0776", and thou subduedst|strong="H3665" before|strong="H6440" them the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of the land|strong="H0776", the Canaanites|strong="H3669", and gavest|strong="H5414" them into their hands|strong="H3027", with their kings|strong="H4428", and the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776", that they might do|strong="H6213" with them as they would|strong="H7522".

And they took|strong="H3920" strong|strong="H1219" cities|strong="H5892", and a fat|strong="H8082" land|strong="H0127", and possessed|strong="H3423" houses|strong="H1004" full|strong="H4392" of all goods|strong="H2898", wells|strong="H0953" digged|strong="H2672", vineyards|strong="H3754", and oliveyards|strong="H2132", and fruit|strong="H3978" trees|strong="H6086" in abundance|strong="H7230": so they did eat|strong="H0398", and were filled|strong="H7646", and became fat|strong="H8080", and delighted|strong="H5727" themselves in thy great|strong="H1419" goodness|strong="H2898".

Nevertheless they were disobedient|strong="H4784", and rebelled|strong="H4775" against thee, and cast|strong="H7993" thy law|strong="H8451" behind|strong="H0310" their backs|strong="H1458", and slew|strong="H2026" thy prophets|strong="H5030" which testified|strong="H5749" against them to turn|strong="H7725" them to thee, and they wrought|strong="H6213" great|strong="H1419" provocations|strong="H5007".

Therefore thou deliveredst|strong="H5414" them into the hand|strong="H3027" of their enemies|strong="H6862", who vexed|strong="H6887" them: and in the time|strong="H6256" of their trouble|strong="H6869", when they cried|strong="H6817" unto thee, thou heardest|strong="H8085" them from heaven|strong="H8064"; and according to thy manifold|strong="H7227" mercies|strong="H7356" thou gavest|strong="H5414" them saviours|strong="H3467", who saved|strong="H3467" them out of the hand|strong="H3027" of their enemies|strong="H6862".

But after they had rest|strong="H5117", they did|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7451" again|strong="H7725" before|strong="H6440" thee: therefore leftest|strong="H5800" thou them in the hand|strong="H3027" of their enemies|strong="H0341", so that they had the dominion|strong="H7287" over them: yet when they returned|strong="H7725", and cried|strong="H2199" unto thee, thou heardest|strong="H8085" them from heaven|strong="H8064"; and many|strong="H7227" times|strong="H6256" didst thou deliver|strong="H5337" them according to thy mercies|strong="H7356";

And testifiedst|strong="H5749" against them, that thou mightest bring them again|strong="H7725" unto thy law|strong="H8451": yet they dealt proudly|strong="H2102", and hearkened|strong="H8085" not unto thy commandments|strong="H4687", but sinned|strong="H2398" against thy judgments|strong="H4941", (which if a man|strong="H0120" do|strong="H6213", he shall live|strong="H2421" in them;) and withdrew|strong="H5414" the shoulder|strong="H3802", and hardened|strong="H7185" their neck|strong="H6203", and would not hear|strong="H8085".

Yet many|strong="H7227" years|strong="H8141" didst thou forbear|strong="H4900" them, and testifiedst|strong="H5749" against them by thy spirit|strong="H7307" in|strong="H3027" thy prophets|strong="H5030": yet would they not give ear|strong="H0238": therefore gavest|strong="H5414" thou them into the hand|strong="H3027" of the people|strong="H5971" of the lands|strong="H0776".

Nevertheless for thy great|strong="H7227" mercies’|strong="H7356" sake thou didst|strong="H6213" not utterly consume|strong="H3617" them, nor forsake|strong="H5800" them; for thou art a gracious|strong="H2587" and merciful|strong="H7349" God|strong="H0410".

Now therefore, our God|strong="H0430", the great|strong="H1419", the mighty|strong="H1368", and the terrible|strong="H3372" God|strong="H0410", who keepest|strong="H8104" covenant|strong="H1285" and mercy|strong="H2617", let not all the trouble|strong="H8513" seem little|strong="H4591" before|strong="H6440" thee, that hath come|strong="H4672" upon us, on our kings|strong="H4428", on our princes|strong="H8269", and on our priests|strong="H3548", and on our prophets|strong="H5030", and on our fathers|strong="H0001", and on all thy people|strong="H5971", since the time|strong="H3117" of the kings|strong="H4428" of Assyria|strong="H0804" unto this day|strong="H3117".

Howbeit thou art just|strong="H6662" in all that is brought|strong="H0935" upon us; for thou hast done|strong="H6213" right|strong="H0571", but we have done wickedly|strong="H7561":

Neither have our kings|strong="H4428", our princes|strong="H8269", our priests|strong="H3548", nor our fathers|strong="H0001", kept|strong="H6213" thy law|strong="H8451", nor hearkened|strong="H7181" unto thy commandments|strong="H4687" and thy testimonies|strong="H5715", wherewith thou didst testify|strong="H5749" against them.

For they have not served|strong="H5647" thee in their kingdom|strong="H4438", and in thy great|strong="H7227" goodness|strong="H2898" that thou gavest|strong="H5414" them, and in the large|strong="H7342" and fat|strong="H8082" land|strong="H0776" which thou gavest|strong="H5414" before|strong="H6440" them, neither turned|strong="H7725" they from their wicked|strong="H7451" works|strong="H4611".

Behold, we are servants|strong="H5650" this day|strong="H3117", and for the land|strong="H0776" that thou gavest|strong="H5414" unto our fathers|strong="H0001" to eat|strong="H0398" the fruit|strong="H6529" thereof and the good|strong="H2898" thereof, behold, we are servants|strong="H5650" in it:

And it yieldeth much|strong="H7235" increase|strong="H8393" unto the kings|strong="H4428" whom thou hast set|strong="H5414" over us because of our sins|strong="H2403": also they have dominion|strong="H4910" over our bodies|strong="H1472", and over our cattle|strong="H0929", at their pleasure|strong="H7522", and we are in great|strong="H1419" distress|strong="H6869".

And because of all this we make|strong="H3772" a sure|strong="H0548" covenant, and write|strong="H3789" it; and our princes|strong="H8269", Levites|strong="H3881", and priests|strong="H3548", seal|strong="H2856" unto it.
