1 Alef. Como cobriu irritado o Senhor com uma nuvem a filha de Sião? Precipitou do céu à terra a gloria de Israel, e na sua cólera desinteressou-se do escabelo dos seus pés.
2 The Lord|strong="H0136" hath swallowed up|strong="H1104" all the habitations|strong="H4999" of Jacob|strong="H3290", and hath not pitied|strong="H2550": he hath thrown down|strong="H2040" in his wrath|strong="H5678" the strong holds|strong="H4013" of the daughter|strong="H1323" of Judah|strong="H3063"; he hath brought them down|strong="H5060" to the ground|strong="H0776": he hath polluted|strong="H2490" the kingdom|strong="H4467" and the princes|strong="H8269" thereof.
2 Bet. O Senhor destruiu sem piedade todas as moradias de Jacó. E em seu furor arruinou as fortificações da filha de Judá. Lançou por terra e conspurcou o reino e seus príncipes.
3 He hath cut off|strong="H1438" in his fierce|strong="H2750" anger|strong="H0639" all the horn|strong="H7161" of Israel|strong="H3478": he hath drawn|strong="H7725" back|strong="H0268" his right hand|strong="H3225" from before|strong="H6440" the enemy|strong="H0341", and he burned|strong="H1197" against Jacob|strong="H3290" like a flaming|strong="H3852" fire|strong="H0784", which devoureth|strong="H0398" round about|strong="H5439".
3 Guimel. Na violência do seu furor, quebrou todo o poder de Israel. Ao aproximar-se o inimigo, retirou o apoio de sua mão, e provocou um incêndio em Jacó que devora tudo que o cerca.
4 He hath bent|strong="H1869" his bow|strong="H7198" like an enemy|strong="H0341": he stood|strong="H5324" with his right hand|strong="H3225" as an adversary|strong="H6862", and slew|strong="H2026" all that were pleasant|strong="H4261" to the eye|strong="H5869" in the tabernacle|strong="H0168" of the daughter|strong="H1323" of Zion|strong="H6726": he poured out|strong="H8210" his fury|strong="H2534" like fire|strong="H0784".
4 Dalet. Retesou o arco, qual inimigo; firmou o braço, qual adversário; e tudo quanto encantava os olhos ele degolou. Na tenda da filha de Sião lançou o fogo do seu furor.
5 The Lord|strong="H0136" was as an enemy|strong="H0341": he hath swallowed up|strong="H1104" Israel|strong="H3478", he hath swallowed up|strong="H1104" all her palaces|strong="H0759": he hath destroyed|strong="H7843" his strong holds|strong="H4013", and hath increased|strong="H7235" in the daughter|strong="H1323" of Judah|strong="H3063" mourning|strong="H8386" and lamentation|strong="H0592".
5 He. Semelhante a um inimigo o Senhor destruiu Israel. Demoliu seus edifícios, abateu suas fortalezas; sobre a filha de Sião acumulou dores sobre dores.
6 And he hath violently taken away|strong="H2554" his tabernacle|strong="H7900", as if it were of a garden|strong="H1588": he hath destroyed|strong="H7843" his places of the assembly|strong="H4150": the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath caused the solemn feasts|strong="H4150" and sabbaths|strong="H7676" to be forgotten|strong="H7911" in Zion|strong="H6726", and hath despised|strong="H5006" in the indignation|strong="H2195" of his anger|strong="H0639" the king|strong="H4428" and the priest|strong="H3548".
6 Vau. Arrombou-lhe a tenda, como um jardim, e devastou seu santuário. O Senhor aboliu em Sião festas e sábados. E no ardor de sua cólera repeliu rei e sacerdote.
7 The Lord|strong="H0136" hath cast off|strong="H2186" his altar|strong="H4196", he hath abhorred|strong="H5010" his sanctuary|strong="H4720", he hath given up|strong="H5462" into the hand|strong="H3027" of the enemy|strong="H0341" the walls|strong="H2346" of her palaces|strong="H0759"; they have made|strong="H5414" a noise|strong="H6963" in the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, as in the day|strong="H3117" of a solemn feast|strong="H4150".
7 Zaim. Desgostou-se do altar e rejeitou seu santuário. Entregou nas mãos dos inimigos as muralhas de seus fortes; elevaram-se gritos no templo, como nos dias de festas.
8 The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath purposed|strong="H2803" to destroy|strong="H7843" the wall|strong="H2346" of the daughter|strong="H1323" of Zion|strong="H6726": he hath stretched out|strong="H5186" a line|strong="H6957", he hath not withdrawn|strong="H7725" his hand|strong="H3027" from destroying|strong="H1104": therefore he made the rampart|strong="H2426" and the wall|strong="H2346" to lament|strong="H0056"; they languished|strong="H0535" together|strong="H3162".
8 Het. Resolveu o Senhor demolir os muros da filha de Sião. Estendeu o cordel, sem deter-se antes que tudo destruísse, e derrubou o muro e o antemuro que, juntos, desabaram.
9 Her gates|strong="H8179" are sunk|strong="H2883" into the ground|strong="H0776"; he hath destroyed|strong="H0006" and broken|strong="H7665" her bars|strong="H1280": her king|strong="H4428" and her princes|strong="H8269" are among the Gentiles|strong="H1471": the law|strong="H8451" is no more; her prophets|strong="H5030" also find|strong="H4672" no vision|strong="H2377" from the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
9 Tet. Jazem sob escombros as suas portas que ele quebrou, partindo as traves. Acham-se no estrangeiro seu rei e príncipes. Não há mais oráculos. Mesmo os profetas não mais recebem as visões do Senhor.
10 The elders|strong="H2205" of the daughter|strong="H1323" of Zion|strong="H6726" sit|strong="H3427" upon the ground|strong="H0776", and keep silence|strong="H1826": they have cast up|strong="H5927" dust|strong="H6083" upon their heads|strong="H7218"; they have girded|strong="H2296" themselves with sackcloth|strong="H8242": the virgins|strong="H1330" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389" hang down|strong="H3381" their heads|strong="H7218" to the ground|strong="H0776".
10 Iod. Sentados no chão, taciturnos, jazem os anciãos da filha de Sião. Jogaram poeira sobre os cabelos; vestiram-se com sacos; e as virgens de Jerusalém pendem a fronte para a terra.
11 Mine eyes|strong="H5869" do fail|strong="H3615" with tears|strong="H1832", my bowels|strong="H4578" are troubled|strong="H2560", my liver|strong="H3516" is poured|strong="H8210" upon the earth|strong="H0776", for the destruction|strong="H7667" of the daughter|strong="H1323" of my people|strong="H5971"; because the children|strong="H5768" and the sucklings|strong="H3243" swoon|strong="H5848" in the streets|strong="H7339" of the city|strong="H7151".
11 Caf. Ardiam-me os olhos, de tantas lágrimas; fremiam minhas entranhas. Minha bílis se espalhou por terra, ante a ruína da filha de meu povo, quando nas ruas da cidade desfaleciam os meninos e as crianças de peito.
12 They say|strong="H0559" to their mothers|strong="H0517", Where is corn|strong="H1715" and wine|strong="H3196"? when they swooned|strong="H5848" as the wounded|strong="H2491" in the streets|strong="H7339" of the city|strong="H5892", when their soul|strong="H5315" was poured out|strong="H8210" into their mothers’|strong="H0517" bosom|strong="H2436".
12 Lamed. Onde há pão {e onde há vinho}?!, diziam eles às mães, desfalecendo, quais feridos, nas ruas da cidade, e entregando a alma no regaço materno.
13 What thing shall I take to witness|strong="H5749" for thee? what thing|strong="H4100" shall I liken|strong="H1819" to thee, O daughter|strong="H1323" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389"? what shall I equal|strong="H7737" to thee, that I may comfort|strong="H5162" thee, O virgin|strong="H1330" daughter|strong="H1323" of Zion|strong="H6726"? for thy breach|strong="H7667" is great|strong="H1419" like the sea|strong="H3220": who can heal|strong="H7495" thee?
13 Mem. Que dizer? A quem te comparar, filha de Jerusalém? Quem irá salvar-te e consolar-te, ó virgem, filha de Sião? É imensa como o mar tua ruína: quem poderá curar-te?
14 Thy prophets|strong="H5030" have seen|strong="H2372" vain|strong="H7723" and foolish things|strong="H8602" for thee: and they have not discovered|strong="H1540" thine iniquity|strong="H5771", to turn away|strong="H7725" thy captivity|strong="H7622"; but have seen|strong="H2372" for thee false|strong="H7723" burdens|strong="H4864" and causes of banishment|strong="H4065".
14 Nun. Os teus profetas tinham visões apenas extravagantes e balofas. Não manifestaram tua malícia, o que teria poupado teu exílio. Os oráculos que te davam eram apenas mentiras e enganos.
15 All that pass|strong="H5674" by clap|strong="H5606" their hands|strong="H3709" at thee|strong="H1870"; they hiss|strong="H8319" and wag|strong="H5128" their head|strong="H7218" at the daughter|strong="H1323" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389", saying, Is this the city|strong="H5892" that men call|strong="H0559" The perfection|strong="H3632" of beauty|strong="H3308", The joy|strong="H4885" of the whole earth|strong="H0776"?
15 Samec. Todos os transeuntes, ao te verem, batem palmas, e assobiando meneiam a cabeça sobre a filha de Jerusalém. Eis a cidade da qual diziam ser a beleza perfeita, a alegria do universo.
16 All thine enemies|strong="H0341" have opened|strong="H6475" their mouth|strong="H6310" against thee: they hiss|strong="H8319" and gnash|strong="H2786" the teeth|strong="H8127": they say|strong="H0559", We have swallowed her up|strong="H1104": certainly|strong="H0389" this is the day|strong="H3117" that we looked for|strong="H6960"; we have found|strong="H4672", we have seen|strong="H7200" it.
16 Pe. Abrem a boca contra ti todos os teus inimigos. Escarnecem e rangem os dentes. Nós destruímos, dizem eles, eis o dia esperado, estamos nele, estamos vendo!
17 The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath done|strong="H6213" that which he had devised|strong="H2161"; he hath fulfilled|strong="H1214" his word|strong="H0565" that he had commanded|strong="H6680" in the days|strong="H3117" of old|strong="H6924": he hath thrown down|strong="H2040", and hath not pitied|strong="H2550": and he hath caused thine enemy|strong="H0341" to rejoice|strong="H8055" over thee, he hath set up|strong="H7311" the horn|strong="H7161" of thine adversaries|strong="H6862".
17 Ain. Realizou o Senhor o seu desígnio, executando as ameaças que outrora proferira. E destruiu sem piedade. À tua custa contentou o inimigo, exaltando o poder de teus adversários.
18 Their heart|strong="H3820" cried|strong="H6817" unto the Lord|strong="H0136", O wall|strong="H2346" of the daughter|strong="H1323" of Zion|strong="H6726", let tears|strong="H1832" run down|strong="H3381" like a river|strong="H5158" day|strong="H3119" and night|strong="H3915": give|strong="H5414" thyself no rest|strong="H6314"; let not the apple|strong="H1323" of thine eye|strong="H5869" cease|strong="H1826".
18 Sade. Seu coração clama ao Senhor. Ó muralha da filha de Sião, transborda dia e noite a torrente de tuas lágrimas! Não te dês descanso, e teus olhos não cessem de chorar!
19 Arise|strong="H6965", cry out|strong="H7442" in the night|strong="H3915": in the beginning|strong="H7218" of the watches|strong="H0821" pour out|strong="H8210" thine heart|strong="H3820" like water|strong="H4325" before|strong="H5227" the face|strong="H6440" of the Lord|strong="H0136": lift up|strong="H5375" thy hands|strong="H3709" toward him for the life|strong="H5315" of thy young children|strong="H5768", that faint|strong="H5848" for hunger|strong="H7458" in the top|strong="H7218" of every street|strong="H2351".
19 Cof. Levanta-te à noite; grita ao início de cada vigília; que se derrame teu coração ante a face do Senhor. Ergue para ele as mãos, pela vida de teus filhos que caem de inanição, em todos os cantos das ruas.
20 Behold|strong="H7200", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and consider|strong="H5027" to whom thou hast done|strong="H5953" this|strong="H3541". Shall the women|strong="H0802" eat|strong="H0398" their fruit|strong="H6529", and children|strong="H5768" of a span long|strong="H2949"? shall the priest|strong="H3548" and the prophet|strong="H5030" be slain|strong="H2026" in the sanctuary|strong="H4720" of the Lord|strong="H0136"?
20 Res. Olhai, Senhor, e considerai! A quem jamais tratastes assim? Como! Mães a devorar os seus frutos, suas criancinhas de colo! Foram massacrados sacerdotes e profetas no santuário do Senhor!
21 The young|strong="H5288" and the old|strong="H2205" lie|strong="H7901" on the ground|strong="H0776" in the streets|strong="H2351": my virgins|strong="H1330" and my young men|strong="H0970" are fallen|strong="H5307" by the sword|strong="H2719"; thou hast slain|strong="H2026" them in the day|strong="H3117" of thine anger|strong="H0639"; thou hast killed|strong="H2873", and not pitied|strong="H2550".
21 Sin. Jazem pelo chão nas ruas o menino e o velho. Virgens e jovens pereceram pelo gládio. Matastes, no dia de vossa cólera, imolastes sem piedade.
22 Thou hast called|strong="H7121" as in a solemn|strong="H4150" day|strong="H3117" my terrors|strong="H4032" round about|strong="H5439", so that in the day|strong="H3117" of the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w* anger|strong="H0639" none escaped|strong="H6412" nor remained|strong="H8300": those that I have swaddled|strong="H2946" and brought up|strong="H7235" hath mine enemy|strong="H0341" consumed|strong="H3615".
22 Tau. Convocastes como para uma festa a multidão de terrores. No dia do furor divino ninguém fugiu, nenhum escapou. E aqueles que criei e eduquei meu inimigo os exterminou!
