How doth the city|strong="H5892" sit|strong="H3427" solitary|strong="H0910", that was full|strong="H7227" of people|strong="H5971"! how is she become as a widow|strong="H0490"! she that was great|strong="H7227" among the nations|strong="H1471", and princess|strong="H8282" among the provinces|strong="H4082", how is she become tributary|strong="H4522"!
She weepeth|strong="H1058" sore|strong="H1058" in the night|strong="H3915", and her tears|strong="H1832" are on her cheeks|strong="H3895": among all her lovers|strong="H0157" she hath none to comfort|strong="H5162" her: all her friends|strong="H7453" have dealt treacherously|strong="H0898" with her, they are become her enemies|strong="H0341".
Judah|strong="H3063" is gone into captivity|strong="H1540" because of affliction|strong="H6040", and because of great|strong="H7230" servitude|strong="H5656": she dwelleth|strong="H3427" among the heathen|strong="H1471", she findeth|strong="H4672" no rest|strong="H4494": all her persecutors|strong="H7291" overtook|strong="H5381" her between the straits|strong="H4712".
The ways|strong="H1870" of Zion|strong="H6726" do mourn|strong="H0057", because none come|strong="H0935" to the solemn feasts|strong="H4150": all her gates|strong="H8179" are desolate|strong="H8074": her priests|strong="H3548" sigh|strong="H0584", her virgins|strong="H1330" are afflicted|strong="H3013", and she is in bitterness|strong="H4843".
Her adversaries|strong="H6862" are the chief|strong="H7218", her enemies|strong="H0341" prosper|strong="H7951"; for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath afflicted|strong="H3013" her for the multitude|strong="H7230" of her transgressions|strong="H6588": her children|strong="H5768" are gone|strong="H1980" into captivity|strong="H7628" before|strong="H6440" the enemy|strong="H6862".
And from the daughter|strong="H1323" of Zion|strong="H6726" all her beauty|strong="H1926" is departed|strong="H3318": her princes|strong="H8269" are become like harts|strong="H0354" that find|strong="H4672" no pasture|strong="H4829", and they are gone|strong="H3212" without strength|strong="H3581" before|strong="H6440" the pursuer|strong="H7291".
Jerusalem|strong="H3389" remembered|strong="H2142" in the days|strong="H3117" of her affliction|strong="H6040" and of her miseries|strong="H4788" all her pleasant things|strong="H4262" that she had in the days|strong="H3117" of old|strong="H6924", when her people|strong="H5971" fell|strong="H5307" into the hand|strong="H3027" of the enemy|strong="H6862", and none did help|strong="H5826" her: the adversaries|strong="H6862" saw|strong="H7200" her, and did mock|strong="H7832" at her sabbaths|strong="H4868".
Jerusalem|strong="H3389" hath grievously|strong="H2399" sinned|strong="H2398"; therefore she is removed|strong="H5206": all that honoured|strong="H3513" her despise|strong="H2107" her, because they have seen|strong="H7200" her nakedness|strong="H6172": yea, she sigheth|strong="H0584", and turneth|strong="H7725" backward|strong="H0268".
Her filthiness|strong="H2932" is in her skirts|strong="H7757"; she remembereth|strong="H2142" not her last end|strong="H0319"; therefore she came down|strong="H3381" wonderfully|strong="H6382": she had no comforter|strong="H5162". O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, behold|strong="H7200" my affliction|strong="H6040": for the enemy|strong="H0341" hath magnified|strong="H1431" himself.
The adversary|strong="H6862" hath spread out|strong="H6566" his hand|strong="H3027" upon all her pleasant things|strong="H4261": for she hath seen|strong="H7200" that the heathen|strong="H1471" entered|strong="H0935" into her sanctuary|strong="H4720", whom thou didst command|strong="H6680" that they should not enter|strong="H0935" into thy congregation|strong="H6951".
All her people|strong="H5971" sigh|strong="H0584", they seek|strong="H1245" bread|strong="H3899"; they have given|strong="H5414" their pleasant things|strong="H4261" for meat|strong="H0400" to relieve|strong="H7725" the soul|strong="H5315": see|strong="H7200", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and consider|strong="H5027"; for I am become vile|strong="H2151".
Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass|strong="H5674" by|strong="H1870"? behold|strong="H5027", and see|strong="H7200" if there be|strong="H3426" any sorrow|strong="H4341" like unto my sorrow|strong="H4341", which is done|strong="H5953" unto me, wherewith the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath afflicted|strong="H3013" me in the day|strong="H3117" of his fierce|strong="H2740" anger|strong="H0639".
From above|strong="H4791" hath he sent|strong="H7971" fire|strong="H0784" into my bones|strong="H6106", and it prevaileth|strong="H7287" against them: he hath spread|strong="H6566" a net|strong="H7568" for my feet|strong="H7272", he hath turned|strong="H7725" me back|strong="H0268": he hath made|strong="H5414" me desolate|strong="H8074" and faint|strong="H1739" all the day|strong="H3117".
The yoke|strong="H5923" of my transgressions|strong="H6588" is bound|strong="H8244" by his hand|strong="H3027": they are wreathed|strong="H8276", and come up|strong="H5927" upon my neck|strong="H6677": he hath made my strength|strong="H3581" to fall|strong="H3782", the Lord|strong="H0136" hath delivered|strong="H5414" me into their hands|strong="H3027", from whom I am not able|strong="H3201" to rise up|strong="H6965".
The Lord|strong="H0136" hath trodden under foot|strong="H5541" all my mighty|strong="H0047" men in the midst|strong="H7130" of me: he hath called|strong="H7121" an assembly|strong="H4150" against me to crush|strong="H7665" my young men|strong="H0970": the Lord|strong="H0136" hath trodden|strong="H1869" the virgin|strong="H1330", the daughter|strong="H1323" of Judah|strong="H3063", as in a winepress|strong="H1660".
For these things I weep|strong="H1058"; mine eye|strong="H5869", mine eye|strong="H5869" runneth down|strong="H3381" with water|strong="H4325", because the comforter|strong="H5162" that should relieve|strong="H7725" my soul|strong="H5315" is far|strong="H7368" from me: my children|strong="H1121" are desolate|strong="H8074", because the enemy|strong="H0341" prevailed|strong="H1396".
Zion|strong="H6726" spreadeth forth|strong="H6566" her hands|strong="H3027", and there is none to comfort|strong="H5162" her: the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath commanded|strong="H6680" concerning Jacob|strong="H3290", that his adversaries|strong="H6862" should be round about|strong="H5439" him: Jerusalem|strong="H3389" is as a menstruous woman|strong="H5079" among them.
The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is righteous|strong="H6662"; for I have rebelled|strong="H4784" against his commandment|strong="H6310": hear|strong="H8085", I pray you, all people|strong="H5971", and behold|strong="H7200" my sorrow|strong="H4341": my virgins|strong="H1330" and my young men|strong="H0970" are gone|strong="H1980" into captivity|strong="H7628".
I called|strong="H7121" for my lovers|strong="H0157", but they deceived|strong="H7411" me: my priests|strong="H3548" and mine elders|strong="H2205" gave up the ghost|strong="H1478" in the city|strong="H5892", while they sought|strong="H1245" their meat|strong="H0400" to relieve|strong="H7725" their souls|strong="H5315".
Behold|strong="H7200", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; for I am in distress|strong="H6887": my bowels|strong="H4578" are troubled|strong="H2560"; mine heart|strong="H3820" is turned|strong="H2015" within|strong="H7130" me; for I have grievously|strong="H4784" rebelled|strong="H4784": abroad|strong="H2351" the sword|strong="H2719" bereaveth|strong="H7921", at home|strong="H1004" there is as death|strong="H4194".
They have heard|strong="H8085" that I sigh|strong="H0584": there is none to comfort|strong="H5162" me: all mine enemies|strong="H0341" have heard|strong="H8085" of my trouble|strong="H7451"; they are glad|strong="H7797" that thou hast done|strong="H6213" it: thou wilt bring|strong="H0935" the day|strong="H3117" that thou hast called|strong="H7121", and they shall be like|strong="H3644" unto me.
Let all their wickedness|strong="H7451" come|strong="H0935" before|strong="H6440" thee; and do|strong="H5953" unto them, as thou hast done|strong="H5953" unto me for all my transgressions|strong="H6588": for my sighs|strong="H0585" are many|strong="H7227", and my heart|strong="H3820" is faint|strong="H1742".
