Josué 20

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* also spake|strong="H1696" unto Joshua|strong="H3091", saying|strong="H0559",

Speak|strong="H1696" to the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", saying|strong="H0559", Appoint out|strong="H5414" for you cities|strong="H5892" of refuge|strong="H4733", whereof I spake|strong="H1696" unto you by the hand|strong="H3027" of Moses|strong="H4872":

That the slayer|strong="H7523" that killeth|strong="H5221" any person|strong="H5315" unawares|strong="H7684" and unwittingly|strong="H1847" may flee|strong="H5127" thither: and they shall be your refuge|strong="H4733" from the avenger|strong="H1350" of blood|strong="H1818".

And when he that doth flee|strong="H5127" unto one|strong="H0259" of those cities|strong="H5892" shall stand|strong="H5975" at the entering|strong="H6607" of the gate|strong="H8179" of the city|strong="H5892", and shall declare|strong="H1696" his cause|strong="H1697" in the ears|strong="H0241" of the elders|strong="H2205" of that city|strong="H5892", they shall take|strong="H0622" him into the city|strong="H5892" unto them, and give|strong="H5414" him a place|strong="H4725", that he may dwell|strong="H3427" among them.

And if the avenger|strong="H1350" of blood|strong="H1818" pursue|strong="H7291" after|strong="H0310" him, then they shall not deliver|strong="H5462" the slayer|strong="H7523" up into his hand|strong="H3027"; because he smote|strong="H5221" his neighbour|strong="H7453" unwittingly|strong="H1097", and hated|strong="H8130" him not beforetime|strong="H8543".

And he shall dwell|strong="H3427" in that city|strong="H5892", until he stand|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" the congregation|strong="H5712" for judgment|strong="H4941", and until the death|strong="H4194" of the high|strong="H1419" priest|strong="H3548" that|strong="H0834" shall be in those days|strong="H3117": then shall the slayer|strong="H7523" return|strong="H7725", and come|strong="H0935" unto his own city|strong="H5892", and unto his own house|strong="H1004", unto the city|strong="H5892" from whence he fled|strong="H5127".

And they appointed|strong="H6942" Kedesh|strong="H6943" in Galilee|strong="H1551" in mount|strong="H2022" Naphtali|strong="H5321", and Shechem|strong="H7927" in mount|strong="H2022" Ephraim|strong="H0669", and Kirjath-arba|strong="H7153", which is Hebron|strong="H2275", in the mountain|strong="H2022" of Judah|strong="H3063".

And on the other side|strong="H5676" Jordan|strong="H3383" by Jericho|strong="H3405" eastward|strong="H4217", they assigned|strong="H5414" Bezer|strong="H1221" in the wilderness|strong="H4057" upon the plain|strong="H4334" out of the tribe|strong="H4294" of Reuben|strong="H7205", and Ramoth|strong="H7216" in Gilead|strong="H1568" out of the tribe|strong="H4294" of Gad|strong="H1410", and Golan|strong="H1474" in Bashan|strong="H1316" out of the tribe|strong="H4294" of Manasseh|strong="H4519".

These were the cities|strong="H5892" appointed|strong="H4152" for all the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", and for the stranger|strong="H1616" that sojourneth|strong="H1481" among|strong="H8432" them, that whosoever killeth|strong="H5221" any person|strong="H5315" at unawares|strong="H7684" might flee|strong="H5127" thither, and not die|strong="H4191" by the hand|strong="H3027" of the avenger|strong="H1350" of blood|strong="H1818", until he stood|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" the congregation|strong="H5712".
