Run ye to and fro|strong="H7751" through the streets|strong="H2351" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and see|strong="H7200" now, and know|strong="H3045", and seek|strong="H1245" in the broad places|strong="H7339" thereof, if ye can find|strong="H4672" a man|strong="H0376", if there be|strong="H3426" any that executeth|strong="H6213" judgment|strong="H4941", that seeketh|strong="H1245" the truth|strong="H0530"; and I will pardon|strong="H5545" it.
And though they say|strong="H0559", The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* liveth|strong="H2416"; surely they swear|strong="H7650" falsely|strong="H8267".
O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, are not thine eyes|strong="H5869" upon the truth|strong="H0530"? thou hast stricken|strong="H5221" them, but they have not grieved|strong="H2342"; thou hast consumed|strong="H3615" them, but they have refused|strong="H3985" to receive|strong="H3947" correction|strong="H4148": they have made their faces|strong="H6440" harder|strong="H2388" than a rock|strong="H5553"; they have refused|strong="H3985" to return|strong="H7725".
Therefore I said|strong="H0559", Surely these are poor|strong="H1800"; they are foolish|strong="H2973": for they know|strong="H3045" not the way|strong="H1870" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, nor the judgment|strong="H4941" of their God|strong="H0430".
I will get|strong="H3212" me unto the great men|strong="H1419", and will speak|strong="H1696" unto them; for they have known|strong="H3045" the way|strong="H1870" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and the judgment|strong="H4941" of their God|strong="H0430": but these have altogether|strong="H3162" broken|strong="H7665" the yoke|strong="H5923", and burst|strong="H5423" the bonds|strong="H4147".
Wherefore a lion|strong="H0738" out of the forest|strong="H3293" shall slay|strong="H5221" them, and a wolf|strong="H2061" of the evenings|strong="H6160" shall spoil|strong="H7703" them, a leopard|strong="H5246" shall watch|strong="H8245" over their cities|strong="H5892": every one that goeth out|strong="H3318" thence shall|strong="H2007" be torn in pieces|strong="H2963": because their transgressions|strong="H6588" are many|strong="H7231", and their backslidings|strong="H4878" are increased|strong="H6105".
How|strong="H0335" shall I pardon|strong="H5545" thee for this|strong="H2063"? thy children|strong="H1121" have forsaken|strong="H5800" me, and sworn|strong="H7650" by them that are no|strong="H3808" gods|strong="H0430": when I had fed them to the full|strong="H7650", they then committed adultery|strong="H5003", and assembled themselves by troops|strong="H1413" in the harlots’|strong="H2181" houses|strong="H1004".
They were as fed|strong="H2109" horses|strong="H5483" in the morning|strong="H7904": every one|strong="H0376" neighed|strong="H6670" after his neighbour’s|strong="H7453" wife|strong="H0802".
Shall I not visit|strong="H6485" for these things? saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: and shall not my soul|strong="H5315" be avenged|strong="H5358" on such a nation|strong="H1471" as this?
Go ye up|strong="H5927" upon her walls|strong="H8284", and destroy|strong="H7843"; but make|strong="H6213" not a full end|strong="H3617": take away|strong="H5493" her battlements|strong="H5189"; for they are not the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w*.
For the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478" and the house|strong="H1004" of Judah|strong="H3063" have dealt very|strong="H0898" treacherously|strong="H0898" against me, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
They have belied|strong="H3584" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and said|strong="H0559", It is not he; neither shall evil|strong="H7451" come|strong="H0935" upon us; neither shall we see|strong="H7200" sword|strong="H2719" nor famine|strong="H7458":
And the prophets|strong="H5030" shall become wind|strong="H7307", and the word|strong="H1696" is not in them: thus shall it be done|strong="H6213" unto them.
Wherefore thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of hosts|strong="H6635", Because ye speak|strong="H1696" this word|strong="H1697", behold, I will make|strong="H5414" my words|strong="H1697" in thy mouth|strong="H6310" fire|strong="H0784", and this people|strong="H5971" wood|strong="H6086", and it shall devour|strong="H0398" them.
Lo, I will bring|strong="H0935" a nation|strong="H1471" upon you from far|strong="H4801", O house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: it is a mighty|strong="H0386" nation|strong="H1471", it is an ancient|strong="H5769" nation|strong="H1471", a nation|strong="H1471" whose language|strong="H3956" thou knowest|strong="H3045" not, neither understandest|strong="H8085" what they say|strong="H1696".
Their quiver|strong="H0827" is as an open|strong="H6605" sepulchre|strong="H6913", they are all mighty men|strong="H1368".
And they shall eat up|strong="H0398" thine harvest|strong="H7105", and thy bread|strong="H3899", which thy sons|strong="H1121" and thy daughters|strong="H1323" should eat|strong="H0398": they shall eat up|strong="H0398" thy flocks|strong="H6629" and thine herds|strong="H1241": they shall eat up|strong="H0398" thy vines|strong="H1612" and thy fig trees|strong="H8384": they shall impoverish|strong="H7567" thy fenced|strong="H4013" cities|strong="H5892", wherein thou|strong="H2007" trustedst|strong="H0982", with the sword|strong="H2719".
Nevertheless in those days|strong="H3117", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, I will not make|strong="H6213" a full end|strong="H3617" with you.
And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say|strong="H0559", Wherefore|strong="H8478" doeth|strong="H6213" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430" all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer|strong="H0559" them, Like as ye have forsaken|strong="H5800" me, and served|strong="H5647" strange|strong="H5236" gods|strong="H0430" in your land|strong="H0776", so shall ye serve|strong="H5647" strangers|strong="H2114" in a land|strong="H0776" that is not yours.
Declare|strong="H5046" this in the house|strong="H1004" of Jacob|strong="H3290", and publish|strong="H8085" it in Judah|strong="H3063", saying|strong="H0559",
Hear|strong="H8085" now this, O foolish|strong="H5530" people|strong="H5971", and without understanding|strong="H3820"; which have eyes|strong="H5869", and see|strong="H7200" not; which have ears|strong="H0241", and hear|strong="H8085" not:
Fear|strong="H3372" ye not me? saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: will ye not tremble|strong="H2342" at my presence|strong="H6440", which have placed|strong="H7760" the sand|strong="H2344" for the bound|strong="H1366" of the sea|strong="H3220" by a perpetual|strong="H5769" decree|strong="H2706", that it cannot pass|strong="H5674" it: and though the waves|strong="H1530" thereof toss|strong="H1607" themselves, yet can they not prevail|strong="H3201"; though they roar|strong="H1993", yet can they not pass over|strong="H5674" it?
But this people|strong="H5971" hath a revolting|strong="H5637" and a rebellious|strong="H4784" heart|strong="H3820"; they are revolted|strong="H5493" and gone|strong="H3212".
Neither say|strong="H0559" they in their heart|strong="H3824", Let us now fear|strong="H3372" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430", that giveth|strong="H5414" rain|strong="H1653", both the former|strong="H3138" and the latter|strong="H4456", in his season|strong="H6256": he reserveth|strong="H8104" unto us the appointed|strong="H2708" weeks|strong="H7620" of the harvest|strong="H7105".
Your iniquities|strong="H5771" have turned away|strong="H5186" these things, and your sins|strong="H2403" have withholden|strong="H4513" good|strong="H2896" things from you.
For among my people|strong="H5971" are found|strong="H4672" wicked|strong="H7563" men: they lay wait|strong="H7789", as he that setteth|strong="H7918" snares|strong="H3353"; they set|strong="H5324" a trap|strong="H4889", they catch|strong="H3920" men|strong="H0582".
As a cage|strong="H3619" is full|strong="H4392" of birds|strong="H5775", so are their houses|strong="H1004" full|strong="H4392" of deceit|strong="H4820": therefore they are become great|strong="H1431", and waxen rich|strong="H6238".
They are waxen fat|strong="H8080", they shine|strong="H6245": yea, they overpass|strong="H5674" the deeds|strong="H1697" of the wicked|strong="H7451": they judge|strong="H1777" not the cause|strong="H1779", the cause of the fatherless|strong="H3490", yet they prosper|strong="H6743"; and the right|strong="H4941" of the needy|strong="H0034" do they not judge|strong="H8199".
Shall I not visit|strong="H6485" for these things? saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: shall not my soul|strong="H5315" be avenged|strong="H5358" on such a nation|strong="H1471" as this?
A wonderful|strong="H8047" and horrible thing|strong="H8186" is committed|strong="H1961" in the land|strong="H0776";
The prophets|strong="H5030" prophesy|strong="H5012" falsely|strong="H8267", and the priests|strong="H3548" bear rule|strong="H7287" by their means|strong="H3027"; and my people|strong="H5971" love|strong="H0157" to have it so: and what will ye do|strong="H6213" in the end|strong="H0319" thereof?
