The word|strong="H1697" which came unto Jeremiah|strong="H3414" from the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, when Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5019" king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894", and all his army|strong="H2428", and all the kingdoms|strong="H4467" of the earth|strong="H0776" of his dominion|strong="H3027", and all the people|strong="H5971", fought|strong="H3898" against Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and against all the cities|strong="H5892" thereof, saying|strong="H0559",
Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478"; Go|strong="H1980" and speak|strong="H0559" to Zedekiah|strong="H6667" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", and tell|strong="H0559" him, Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; Behold, I will give|strong="H5414" this city|strong="H5892" into the hand|strong="H3027" of the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894", and he shall burn|strong="H8313" it with fire|strong="H0784":
And thou shalt not escape out|strong="H4422" of his hand|strong="H3027", but shalt surely|strong="H8610" be taken|strong="H8610", and delivered|strong="H5414" into his hand|strong="H3027"; and thine eyes|strong="H5869" shall behold|strong="H7200" the eyes|strong="H5869" of the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894", and he shall speak|strong="H1696" with thee mouth|strong="H6310" to mouth|strong="H6310", and thou shalt go|strong="H0935" to Babylon|strong="H0894".
Yet hear|strong="H8085" the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, O Zedekiah|strong="H6667" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063"; Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of thee, Thou shalt not die|strong="H4191" by the sword|strong="H2719":
But thou shalt die|strong="H4191" in peace|strong="H7965": and with the burnings|strong="H4955" of thy fathers|strong="H0001", the former|strong="H7223" kings|strong="H4428" which were before|strong="H6440" thee, so shall they burn|strong="H8313" odours for thee; and they will lament|strong="H5594" thee, saying, Ah|strong="H1945" lord|strong="H0113"! for I have pronounced|strong="H1696" the word|strong="H1697", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
Then Jeremiah|strong="H3414" the prophet|strong="H5030" spake|strong="H1696" all these words|strong="H1697" unto Zedekiah|strong="H6667" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389",
When the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon’s|strong="H0894" army|strong="H2428" fought|strong="H3898" against Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and against all the cities|strong="H5892" of Judah|strong="H3063" that were left|strong="H3498", against Lachish|strong="H3923", and against Azekah|strong="H5825": for these defenced|strong="H4013" cities|strong="H5892" remained|strong="H7604" of the cities|strong="H5892" of Judah|strong="H3063".
This is the word|strong="H1697" that came unto Jeremiah|strong="H3414" from the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, after|strong="H0310" that the king|strong="H4428" Zedekiah|strong="H6667" had made|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" with all the people|strong="H5971" which were at Jerusalem|strong="H3389", to proclaim|strong="H7121" liberty|strong="H1865" unto them;
That every man|strong="H0376" should let his manservant|strong="H5650", and every man|strong="H0376" his maidservant|strong="H8198", being an Hebrew|strong="H5680" or an Hebrewess|strong="H5680", go|strong="H7971" free|strong="H2670"; that none should serve|strong="H5647" himself of them, to wit, of a Jew|strong="H3064" his brother|strong="H0251".
Now when all the princes|strong="H8269", and all the people|strong="H5971", which had entered|strong="H0935" into the covenant|strong="H1285", heard|strong="H8085" that every one|strong="H0376" should let his manservant|strong="H5650", and every one|strong="H0376" his maidservant|strong="H8198", go|strong="H7971" free|strong="H2670", that none should serve|strong="H5647" themselves of them any more, then they obeyed|strong="H8085", and let them go|strong="H7971".
But afterward|strong="H0310" they turned|strong="H7725", and caused the servants|strong="H5650" and the handmaids|strong="H8198", whom they had let go|strong="H7971" free|strong="H2670", to return|strong="H7725", and brought them into subjection|strong="H3533" for servants|strong="H5650" and for handmaids|strong="H8198".
Therefore the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came to Jeremiah|strong="H3414" from the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, saying|strong="H0559",
Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478"; I made|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" with your fathers|strong="H0001" in the day|strong="H3117" that I brought them forth|strong="H3318" out of the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714", out of the house|strong="H1004" of bondmen|strong="H5650", saying|strong="H0559",
At the end|strong="H7093" of seven|strong="H7651" years|strong="H8141" let ye go|strong="H7971" every man|strong="H0376" his brother|strong="H0251" an Hebrew|strong="H5680", which hath been sold|strong="H4376" unto thee; and when he hath served|strong="H5647" thee six|strong="H8337" years|strong="H8141", thou shalt let him go|strong="H7971" free|strong="H2670" from thee: but your fathers|strong="H0001" hearkened|strong="H8085" not unto me, neither inclined|strong="H5186" their ear|strong="H0241".
And ye were now|strong="H3117" turned|strong="H7725", and had done|strong="H6213" right|strong="H3477" in my sight|strong="H5869", in proclaiming|strong="H7121" liberty|strong="H1865" every man|strong="H0376" to his neighbour|strong="H7453"; and ye had made|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" before|strong="H6440" me in the house|strong="H1004" which is called|strong="H7121" by my name|strong="H8034":
But ye turned|strong="H7725" and polluted|strong="H2490" my name|strong="H8034", and caused every man|strong="H0376" his servant|strong="H5650", and every man|strong="H0376" his handmaid|strong="H8198", whom ye had set|strong="H7971" at liberty|strong="H2670" at their pleasure|strong="H5315", to return|strong="H7725", and brought them into subjection|strong="H3533", to be unto you for servants|strong="H5650" and for handmaids|strong="H8198".
Therefore thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; Ye have not hearkened|strong="H8085" unto me, in proclaiming|strong="H7121" liberty|strong="H1865", every one|strong="H0376" to his brother|strong="H0251", and every man|strong="H0376" to his neighbour|strong="H7453": behold, I proclaim|strong="H7121" a liberty|strong="H1865" for you, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, to the sword|strong="H2719", to the pestilence|strong="H1698", and to the famine|strong="H7458"; and I will make|strong="H5414" you to be removed|strong="H2189" into all the kingdoms|strong="H4467" of the earth|strong="H0776".
And I will give|strong="H5414" the men|strong="H0582" that have transgressed|strong="H5674" my covenant|strong="H1285", which have not performed|strong="H6965" the words|strong="H1697" of the covenant|strong="H1285" which they had made|strong="H3772" before|strong="H6440" me, when they cut|strong="H3772" the calf|strong="H5695" in twain|strong="H8147", and passed|strong="H5674" between the parts|strong="H1335" thereof,
The princes|strong="H8269" of Judah|strong="H3063", and the princes|strong="H8269" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389", the eunuchs|strong="H5631", and the priests|strong="H3548", and all the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776", which passed|strong="H5674" between the parts|strong="H1335" of the calf|strong="H5695";
I will even give|strong="H5414" them into the hand|strong="H3027" of their enemies|strong="H0341", and into the hand|strong="H3027" of them that seek|strong="H1245" their life|strong="H5315": and their dead bodies|strong="H5038" shall be for meat|strong="H3978" unto the fowls|strong="H5775" of the heaven|strong="H8064", and to the beasts|strong="H0929" of the earth|strong="H0776".
And Zedekiah|strong="H6667" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" and his princes|strong="H8269" will I give|strong="H5414" into the hand|strong="H3027" of their enemies|strong="H0341", and into the hand|strong="H3027" of them that seek|strong="H1245" their life|strong="H5315", and into the hand|strong="H3027" of the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon’s|strong="H0894" army|strong="H2428", which are gone up|strong="H5927" from you.
Behold, I will command|strong="H6680", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and cause them to return|strong="H7725" to this city|strong="H5892"; and they shall fight|strong="H3898" against it, and take|strong="H3920" it, and burn|strong="H8313" it with fire|strong="H0784": and I will make|strong="H5414" the cities|strong="H5892" of Judah|strong="H3063" a desolation|strong="H8077" without an inhabitant|strong="H3427".
