1 They say|strong="H0559", If a man|strong="H0376" put away|strong="H7971" his wife|strong="H0802", and she go|strong="H1980" from him, and become another|strong="H0312" man’s|strong="H0376", shall he return unto her again|strong="H7725"? shall not that land|strong="H0776" be greatly|strong="H2610" polluted|strong="H2610"? but thou hast played the harlot|strong="H2181" with many|strong="H7227" lovers|strong="H7453"; yet return again|strong="H7725" to me, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
2 Lift up|strong="H5375" thine eyes|strong="H5869" unto the high places|strong="H8205", and see|strong="H7200" where|strong="H0375" thou hast not been lien|strong="H7693" with. In the ways|strong="H1870" hast thou sat|strong="H3427" for them, as the Arabian|strong="H6163" in the wilderness|strong="H4057"; and thou hast polluted|strong="H2610" the land|strong="H0776" with thy whoredoms|strong="H2184" and with thy wickedness|strong="H7451".
3 Therefore the showers|strong="H7241" have been withholden|strong="H4513", and there hath been no latter rain|strong="H4456"; and thou hadst a whore’s|strong="H2181" forehead|strong="H4696", thou refusedst|strong="H3985" to be ashamed|strong="H3637".
4 Wilt thou not from this time cry|strong="H7121" unto me, My father|strong="H0001", thou art the guide|strong="H0441" of my youth|strong="H5271"?
5 Will he reserve|strong="H5201" his anger for ever|strong="H5769"? will he keep|strong="H8104" it to the end|strong="H5331"? Behold, thou hast spoken|strong="H1696" and done|strong="H6213" evil things|strong="H7451" as thou couldest|strong="H3201".
6 The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" also unto me in the days|strong="H3117" of Josiah|strong="H2977" the king|strong="H4428", Hast thou seen|strong="H7200" that which backsliding|strong="H4878" Israel|strong="H3478" hath done|strong="H6213"? she is gone up|strong="H1980" upon every high|strong="H1364" mountain|strong="H2022" and under|strong="H8478" every green|strong="H7488" tree|strong="H6086", and there hath played the harlot|strong="H2181".
7 And I said|strong="H0559" after|strong="H0310" she had done|strong="H6213" all these things, Turn|strong="H7725" thou unto me. But she returned|strong="H7725" not. And her treacherous|strong="H0901" sister|strong="H0269" Judah|strong="H3063" saw|strong="H7200" it.
8 And I saw|strong="H7200", when for all the causes|strong="H0182" whereby backsliding|strong="H4878" Israel|strong="H3478" committed adultery|strong="H5003" I had put her away|strong="H7971", and given|strong="H5414" her a bill|strong="H5612" of divorce|strong="H3748"; yet her treacherous|strong="H0898" sister|strong="H0269" Judah|strong="H3063" feared|strong="H3372" not, but went|strong="H3212" and played the harlot|strong="H2181" also.
9 And it came to pass through the lightness|strong="H6963" of her whoredom|strong="H2184", that she defiled|strong="H2610" the land|strong="H0776", and committed adultery|strong="H5003" with stones|strong="H0068" and with stocks|strong="H6086".
10 And yet for all this her treacherous|strong="H0901" sister|strong="H0269" Judah|strong="H3063" hath not turned|strong="H7725" unto me with her whole heart|strong="H3820", but feignedly|strong="H8267", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
11 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto me, The backsliding|strong="H4878" Israel|strong="H3478" hath justified|strong="H6663" herself|strong="H5315" more than treacherous|strong="H0898" Judah|strong="H3063".
12 Go|strong="H1980" and proclaim|strong="H7121" these words|strong="H1697" toward the north|strong="H6828", and say|strong="H0559", Return|strong="H7725", thou backsliding|strong="H4878" Israel|strong="H3478", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; and I will not cause mine anger|strong="H6440" to fall|strong="H5307" upon you: for I am merciful|strong="H2623", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and I will not keep|strong="H5201" anger for ever|strong="H5769".
13 Only acknowledge|strong="H3045" thine iniquity|strong="H5771", that thou hast transgressed|strong="H6586" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430", and hast scattered|strong="H6340" thy ways|strong="H1870" to the strangers|strong="H2114" under every green|strong="H7488" tree|strong="H6086", and ye have not obeyed|strong="H8085" my voice|strong="H6963", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
14 Turn|strong="H7725", O backsliding|strong="H7726" children|strong="H1121", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; for I am married|strong="H1166" unto you: and I will take|strong="H3947" you one|strong="H0259" of a city|strong="H5892", and two|strong="H8147" of a family|strong="H4940", and I will bring|strong="H0935" you to Zion|strong="H6726":
15 And I will give|strong="H5414" you pastors|strong="H7462" according to mine heart|strong="H3820", which shall feed|strong="H7462" you with knowledge|strong="H1844" and understanding|strong="H7919".
16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied|strong="H7235" and increased|strong="H6509" in the land|strong="H0776", in those days|strong="H3117", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, they shall say|strong="H0559" no more, The ark|strong="H0727" of the covenant|strong="H1285" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: neither shall it come|strong="H5927" to mind|strong="H3820": neither shall they remember|strong="H2142" it; neither shall they visit|strong="H6485" it; neither shall that be done|strong="H6213" any more.
17 At that time|strong="H6256" they shall call|strong="H7121" Jerusalem|strong="H3389" the throne|strong="H3678" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; and all the nations|strong="H1471" shall be gathered|strong="H6960" unto it, to the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, to Jerusalem|strong="H3389": neither shall they walk|strong="H3212" any more after|strong="H0310" the imagination|strong="H8307" of their evil|strong="H7451" heart|strong="H3820".
18 In those days|strong="H3117" the house|strong="H1004" of Judah|strong="H3063" shall walk|strong="H3212" with the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478", and they shall come|strong="H0935" together|strong="H3162" out of the land|strong="H0776" of the north|strong="H6828" to the land|strong="H0776" that I have given for an inheritance|strong="H5157" unto your fathers|strong="H0001".
19 But I said|strong="H0559", How shall I put|strong="H7896" thee among the children|strong="H1121", and give|strong="H5414" thee a pleasant|strong="H2532" land|strong="H0776", a goodly|strong="H6643" heritage|strong="H5159" of the hosts|strong="H6635" of nations|strong="H1471"? and I said|strong="H0559", Thou shalt call|strong="H7121" me, My father|strong="H0001"; and shalt not turn away|strong="H7725" from me|strong="H0310".
20 Surely|strong="H0403" as a wife|strong="H0802" treacherously|strong="H0898" departeth from her husband|strong="H7453", so have ye dealt treacherously|strong="H0898" with me, O house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
21 A voice|strong="H6963" was heard|strong="H8085" upon the high places|strong="H8205", weeping|strong="H1065" and supplications|strong="H8469" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478": for they have perverted|strong="H5753" their way|strong="H1870", and they have forgotten|strong="H7911" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430".
22 Return|strong="H7725", ye backsliding|strong="H7726" children|strong="H1121", and I will heal|strong="H7495" your backslidings|strong="H4878". Behold, we come|strong="H0857" unto thee; for thou art the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430".
23 Truly|strong="H0403" in vain|strong="H8267" is salvation hoped for from the hills|strong="H1389", and from the multitude|strong="H1995" of mountains|strong="H2022": truly|strong="H0403" in the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430" is the salvation|strong="H8668" of Israel|strong="H3478".
24 For shame|strong="H1322" hath devoured|strong="H0398" the labour|strong="H3018" of our fathers|strong="H0001" from our youth|strong="H5271"; their flocks|strong="H6629" and their herds|strong="H1241", their sons|strong="H1121" and their daughters|strong="H1323".
25 We lie down|strong="H7901" in our shame|strong="H1322", and our confusion|strong="H3639" covereth|strong="H3680" us: for we have sinned|strong="H2398" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430", we and our fathers|strong="H0001", from our youth|strong="H5271" even unto this day|strong="H3117", and have not obeyed|strong="H8085" the voice|strong="H6963" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430".
