But it displeased|strong="H3415" Jonah|strong="H3124" exceedingly|strong="H1419", and he was very angry|strong="H2734".
And he prayed|strong="H6419" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and said|strong="H0559", I pray|strong="H0577" thee, O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, was not this my saying|strong="H1697", when I was yet in my country|strong="H0127"? Therefore I fled|strong="H1272" before|strong="H6923" unto Tarshish|strong="H8659": for I knew|strong="H3045" that thou art a gracious|strong="H2587" God|strong="H0410", and merciful|strong="H7349", slow|strong="H0750" to anger|strong="H0639", and of great|strong="H7227" kindness|strong="H2617", and repentest|strong="H5162" thee of the evil|strong="H7451".
Therefore now, O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, take|strong="H3947", I beseech thee, my life|strong="H5315" from me; for it is better|strong="H2896" for me to die|strong="H4194" than to live|strong="H2416".
Then said|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, Doest thou well|strong="H3190" to be angry|strong="H2734"?
So Jonah|strong="H3124" went out|strong="H3318" of the city|strong="H5892", and sat|strong="H3427" on the east side|strong="H6924" of the city|strong="H5892", and there made|strong="H6213" him a booth|strong="H5521", and sat|strong="H3427" under it in the shadow|strong="H6738", till he might see|strong="H7200" what would become of the city|strong="H5892".
And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" prepared|strong="H4487" a gourd|strong="H7021", and made it to come up|strong="H5927" over Jonah|strong="H3124", that it might be a shadow|strong="H6738" over his head|strong="H7218", to deliver|strong="H5337" him from his grief|strong="H7451". So Jonah|strong="H3124" was exceeding|strong="H1419" glad|strong="H8055" of the gourd|strong="H7021".
But God|strong="H0430" prepared|strong="H4487" a worm|strong="H8438" when the morning|strong="H7837" rose|strong="H5927" the next day|strong="H4283", and it smote|strong="H5221" the gourd|strong="H7021" that it withered|strong="H3001".
And it came to pass, when the sun|strong="H8121" did arise|strong="H2224", that God|strong="H0430" prepared|strong="H4487" a vehement|strong="H2759" east|strong="H6921" wind|strong="H7307"; and the sun|strong="H8121" beat|strong="H5221" upon the head|strong="H7218" of Jonah|strong="H3124", that he fainted|strong="H5968", and wished|strong="H7592" in himself|strong="H5315" to die|strong="H4191", and said|strong="H0559", It is better|strong="H2896" for me to die|strong="H4194" than to live|strong="H2416".
And God|strong="H0430" said|strong="H0559" to Jonah|strong="H3124", Doest thou well|strong="H3190" to be angry|strong="H2734" for the gourd|strong="H7021"? And he said|strong="H0559", I do well|strong="H3190" to be angry|strong="H2734", even unto death|strong="H4194".
Then said|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, Thou hast had pity|strong="H2347" on the gourd|strong="H7021", for the which thou hast not laboured|strong="H5998", neither madest it grow|strong="H1431"; which came up in a night|strong="H1121", and perished|strong="H0006" in a night|strong="H1121":
And should not I spare|strong="H2347" Nineveh|strong="H5210", that great|strong="H1419" city|strong="H5892", wherein are|strong="H3426" more|strong="H7235" than sixscore|strong="H8147" thousand|strong="H7239" persons|strong="H0120" that cannot discern|strong="H3045" between their right hand|strong="H3225" and their left hand|strong="H8040"; and also much|strong="H7227" cattle|strong="H0929"?
