Isaías 28

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Woe|strong="H1945" to the crown|strong="H5850" of pride|strong="H1348", to the drunkards|strong="H7910" of Ephraim|strong="H0669", whose glorious|strong="H6643" beauty|strong="H8597" is a fading|strong="H5034" flower|strong="H6731", which are on the head|strong="H7218" of the fat|strong="H8081" valleys|strong="H1516" of them that are overcome|strong="H1986" with wine|strong="H3196"!

Behold, the Lord|strong="H0136" hath a mighty|strong="H2389" and strong one|strong="H0533", which as a tempest|strong="H2230" of hail|strong="H1259" and a destroying|strong="H6986" storm|strong="H8178", as a flood|strong="H2230" of mighty|strong="H3524" waters|strong="H4325" overflowing|strong="H7857", shall cast down|strong="H3240" to the earth|strong="H0776" with the hand|strong="H3027".

The crown|strong="H5850" of pride|strong="H1348", the drunkards|strong="H7910" of Ephraim|strong="H0669", shall be trodden|strong="H7429" under feet|strong="H7272":

And the glorious|strong="H6643" beauty|strong="H8597", which is on the head|strong="H7218" of the fat|strong="H8081" valley|strong="H1516", shall be a fading|strong="H5034" flower|strong="H6733", and as the hasty fruit|strong="H1061" before the summer|strong="H7019"; which when he that looketh|strong="H7200" upon it seeth|strong="H7200", while it is yet in his hand|strong="H3709" he eateth it up|strong="H1104".

In that day|strong="H3117" shall the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635" be for a crown|strong="H5850" of glory|strong="H6643", and for a diadem|strong="H6843" of beauty|strong="H8597", unto the residue|strong="H7605" of his people|strong="H5971",

And for a spirit|strong="H7307" of judgment|strong="H4941" to him that sitteth|strong="H3427" in judgment|strong="H4941", and for strength|strong="H1369" to them that turn|strong="H7725" the battle|strong="H4421" to the gate|strong="H8179".

But they|strong="H0428" also have erred|strong="H7686" through wine|strong="H3196", and through strong drink|strong="H7941" are out of the way|strong="H8582"; the priest|strong="H3548" and the prophet|strong="H5030" have erred|strong="H7686" through strong drink|strong="H7941", they are swallowed up|strong="H1104" of|strong="H4480" wine|strong="H3196", they are out of the way|strong="H8582" through strong drink|strong="H7941"; they err|strong="H7686" in vision|strong="H7203", they stumble|strong="H6328" in judgment|strong="H6417".

For all tables|strong="H7979" are full|strong="H4390" of vomit|strong="H6892" and filthiness|strong="H6675", so that there is no place|strong="H4725" clean.

Whom shall he teach|strong="H3384" knowledge|strong="H1844"? and whom shall he make to understand|strong="H0995" doctrine|strong="H8052"? them that are weaned|strong="H1580" from the milk|strong="H2461", and drawn|strong="H6267" from the breasts|strong="H7699".

For precept|strong="H6673" must be upon precept|strong="H6673", precept|strong="H6673" upon precept|strong="H6673"; line|strong="H6957" upon line|strong="H6957", line|strong="H6957" upon line|strong="H6957"; here a little|strong="H2191", and there a little|strong="H2191":

For with stammering|strong="H3934" lips|strong="H8193" and another|strong="H0312" tongue|strong="H3956" will he speak|strong="H1696" to this people|strong="H5971".

To whom he said|strong="H0559", This is the rest|strong="H4496" wherewith ye may cause the weary|strong="H5889" to rest|strong="H5117"; and this is the refreshing|strong="H4774": yet they would|strong="H0014" not hear|strong="H8085".

But the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* was unto them precept|strong="H6673" upon precept|strong="H6673", precept|strong="H6673" upon precept|strong="H6673"; line|strong="H6957" upon line|strong="H6957", line|strong="H6957" upon line|strong="H6957"; here a little|strong="H2191", and there a little|strong="H2191"; that they might go|strong="H3212", and fall|strong="H3782" backward|strong="H0268", and be broken|strong="H7665", and snared|strong="H3369", and taken|strong="H3920".

Wherefore hear|strong="H8085" the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, ye scornful|strong="H3944" men|strong="H0582", that rule|strong="H4910" this people|strong="H5971" which is in Jerusalem|strong="H3389".

Because ye have said|strong="H0559", We have made|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" with death|strong="H4194", and with hell|strong="H7585" are we|strong="H6213" at agreement|strong="H2374"; when the overflowing|strong="H7857" scourge|strong="H7752" shall pass through|strong="H5674", it shall not come|strong="H0935" unto us: for we have made|strong="H7760" lies|strong="H3577" our refuge|strong="H4268", and under falsehood|strong="H8267" have we hid|strong="H5641" ourselves:

Therefore thus saith|strong="H0559" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*, Behold, I lay|strong="H3245" in Zion|strong="H6726" for a foundation a stone|strong="H0068", a tried|strong="H0976" stone|strong="H0068", a precious|strong="H3368" corner|strong="H6438" stone, a sure|strong="H3245" foundation|strong="H4143": he that believeth|strong="H0539" shall not make haste|strong="H2363".

Judgment|strong="H4941" also will I lay|strong="H7760" to the line|strong="H6957", and righteousness|strong="H6666" to the plummet|strong="H4949": and the hail|strong="H1259" shall sweep away|strong="H3261" the refuge|strong="H4268" of lies|strong="H3577", and the waters|strong="H4325" shall overflow|strong="H7857" the hiding place|strong="H5643".

And your covenant|strong="H1285" with death|strong="H4194" shall be disannulled|strong="H3722", and your agreement|strong="H2380" with hell|strong="H7585" shall not stand|strong="H6965"; when the overflowing|strong="H7857" scourge|strong="H7752" shall pass through|strong="H5674", then ye shall be trodden down|strong="H4823" by it.

From the time|strong="H1767" that it goeth forth|strong="H5674" it shall take|strong="H3947" you: for morning|strong="H1242" by morning|strong="H1242" shall it pass over|strong="H5674", by day|strong="H3117" and by night|strong="H3915": and it shall be a vexation|strong="H2113" only to understand|strong="H0995" the report|strong="H8052".

For the bed|strong="H4702" is shorter|strong="H7114" than that a man can stretch|strong="H8311" himself on it: and the covering|strong="H4541" narrower|strong="H6887" than that he can wrap|strong="H3664" himself in it.

For the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* shall rise up|strong="H6965" as in mount|strong="H2022" Perazim|strong="H6559", he shall be wroth|strong="H7264" as in the valley|strong="H6010" of Gibeon|strong="H1391", that he may do|strong="H6213" his work|strong="H4639", his strange|strong="H2114" work|strong="H4639"; and bring to pass|strong="H5647" his act|strong="H5656", his strange|strong="H5237" act|strong="H5656".

Now therefore be ye not mockers|strong="H3887", lest your bands|strong="H4147" be made strong|strong="H2388": for I have heard|strong="H8085" from the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635" a consumption|strong="H3617", even determined|strong="H2782" upon the whole earth|strong="H0776".

Give ye ear|strong="H0238", and hear|strong="H8085" my voice|strong="H6963"; hearken|strong="H7181", and hear|strong="H8085" my speech|strong="H0565".

Doth the plowman|strong="H2790" plow|strong="H2790" all day|strong="H3117" to sow|strong="H2232"? doth he open|strong="H6605" and break the clods|strong="H7702" of his ground|strong="H0127"?

When he hath made plain|strong="H7737" the face|strong="H6440" thereof, doth he not cast abroad|strong="H6327" the fitches|strong="H7100", and scatter|strong="H2236" the cummin|strong="H3646", and cast|strong="H7760" in the principal|strong="H7795" wheat|strong="H2406" and the appointed|strong="H5567" barley|strong="H8184" and the rie|strong="H3698" in their place|strong="H1367"?

For his God|strong="H0430" doth instruct|strong="H3256" him to discretion|strong="H4941", and doth teach|strong="H3384" him.

For the fitches|strong="H7100" are not threshed|strong="H1758" with a threshing instrument|strong="H2742", neither is a cart|strong="H5699" wheel|strong="H0212" turned about|strong="H5437" upon the cummin|strong="H3646"; but the fitches|strong="H7100" are beaten out|strong="H2251" with a staff|strong="H4294", and the cummin|strong="H3646" with a rod|strong="H7626".

Bread|strong="H3899" corn is bruised|strong="H1854"; because he will not ever|strong="H5331" be threshing|strong="H0156" it, nor break|strong="H2000" it with the wheel|strong="H1536" of his cart|strong="H5699", nor bruise|strong="H1854" it with his horsemen|strong="H6571".

This also cometh forth|strong="H3318" from the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635", which is wonderful|strong="H6381" in counsel|strong="H6098", and excellent|strong="H1431" in working|strong="H8454".
