Isaías 29

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Woe|strong="H1945" to Ariel|strong="H0740", to Ariel|strong="H0740", the city|strong="H7151" where David|strong="H1732" dwelt|strong="H2583"! add|strong="H5595" ye year|strong="H8141" to year|strong="H8141"; let them kill|strong="H5362" sacrifices|strong="H2282".

Yet I will distress|strong="H6693" Ariel|strong="H0740", and there shall be heaviness|strong="H8386" and sorrow|strong="H0592": and it shall be unto me as Ariel|strong="H0740".

And I will camp|strong="H2583" against thee round about|strong="H1754", and will lay siege|strong="H6696" against thee with a mount|strong="H4674", and I will raise|strong="H6965" forts|strong="H4694" against thee.

And thou shalt be brought down|strong="H8213", and shalt speak|strong="H1696" out of the ground|strong="H0776", and thy speech|strong="H0565" shall be low|strong="H7817" out of the dust|strong="H6083", and thy voice|strong="H6963" shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit|strong="H0178", out of the ground|strong="H0776", and thy speech|strong="H0565" shall whisper|strong="H6850" out of the dust|strong="H6083".

Moreover the multitude|strong="H1995" of thy strangers|strong="H2114" shall be like small|strong="H1851" dust|strong="H0080", and the multitude|strong="H1995" of the terrible ones|strong="H6184" shall be as chaff|strong="H4671" that passeth away|strong="H5674": yea, it shall be at an instant|strong="H6621" suddenly|strong="H6597".

Thou shalt be visited|strong="H6485" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635" with thunder|strong="H7482", and with earthquake|strong="H7494", and great|strong="H1419" noise|strong="H6963", with storm|strong="H5492" and tempest|strong="H5591", and the flame|strong="H3851" of devouring|strong="H0398" fire|strong="H0784".

And the multitude|strong="H1995" of all the nations|strong="H1471" that fight|strong="H6633" against Ariel|strong="H0740", even all that fight|strong="H6638" against her and her munition|strong="H4685", and that distress|strong="H6693" her, shall be as a dream|strong="H2472" of a night|strong="H3915" vision|strong="H2377".

It shall even be as when an hungry|strong="H7457" man dreameth|strong="H2492", and, behold, he eateth|strong="H0398"; but he awaketh|strong="H6974", and his soul|strong="H5315" is empty|strong="H7386": or as when|strong="H0834" a thirsty man|strong="H6771" dreameth|strong="H2492", and, behold, he drinketh|strong="H8354"; but he awaketh|strong="H6974", and, behold, he is faint|strong="H5889", and his soul|strong="H5315" hath appetite|strong="H8264": so shall the multitude|strong="H1995" of all the nations|strong="H1471" be, that fight|strong="H6633" against mount|strong="H2022" Zion|strong="H6726".

Stay|strong="H4102" yourselves, and wonder|strong="H8539"; cry ye out|strong="H8173", and cry|strong="H8173": they are drunken|strong="H7937", but not with wine|strong="H3196"; they stagger|strong="H5128", but not with strong drink|strong="H7941".

For the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath poured out|strong="H5258" upon you the spirit|strong="H7307" of deep sleep|strong="H8639", and hath closed|strong="H6105" your eyes|strong="H5869": the prophets|strong="H5030" and your rulers|strong="H7218", the seers|strong="H2374" hath he covered|strong="H3680".

And the vision|strong="H2380" of all is become unto you as the words|strong="H1697" of a book|strong="H5612" that is sealed|strong="H2856", which men deliver|strong="H5414" to one that is learned|strong="H3045", saying|strong="H0559", Read|strong="H7121" this, I pray thee: and he saith|strong="H0559", I cannot|strong="H3201"; for it is sealed|strong="H2856":

And the book|strong="H5612" is delivered|strong="H5414" to him that is not learned|strong="H3045", saying|strong="H0559", Read|strong="H7121" this, I pray thee: and he saith|strong="H0559", I am not learned|strong="H3045".

Wherefore the Lord|strong="H0136" said|strong="H0559", Forasmuch|strong="H3282" as this people|strong="H5971" draw near|strong="H5066" me with their mouth|strong="H6310", and with their lips|strong="H8193" do honour|strong="H3513" me, but have removed|strong="H7368" their heart|strong="H3820" far|strong="H7368" from me, and their fear|strong="H3374" toward me is taught|strong="H3925" by the precept|strong="H4687" of men|strong="H0582":

Therefore, behold, I will proceed|strong="H3254" to do a marvellous work|strong="H6381" among this people|strong="H5971", even a marvellous work|strong="H6381" and a wonder|strong="H6382": for the wisdom|strong="H2451" of their wise|strong="H2450" men shall perish|strong="H0006", and the understanding|strong="H0998" of their prudent|strong="H0995" men shall be hid|strong="H5641".

Woe|strong="H1945" unto them that seek deep|strong="H6009" to hide|strong="H5641" their counsel|strong="H6098" from the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and their works|strong="H4639" are in the dark|strong="H4285", and they say|strong="H0559", Who seeth|strong="H7200" us? and who knoweth|strong="H3045" us?

Surely your turning of things upside down|strong="H2017" shall be esteemed|strong="H2803" as the potter’s|strong="H3335" clay|strong="H2563": for shall the work|strong="H4639" say|strong="H0559" of him that made|strong="H6213" it, He made|strong="H6213" me not? or shall the thing framed|strong="H3336" say|strong="H0559" of him that framed|strong="H3335" it, He had no understanding|strong="H0995"?

Is it not yet a very|strong="H4213" little while|strong="H4592", and Lebanon|strong="H3844" shall be turned|strong="H7725" into a fruitful field|strong="H3759", and the fruitful field|strong="H3759" shall be esteemed|strong="H2803" as a forest|strong="H3293"?

And in that day|strong="H3117" shall the deaf|strong="H2795" hear|strong="H8085" the words|strong="H1697" of the book|strong="H5612", and the eyes|strong="H5869" of the blind|strong="H5787" shall see|strong="H7200" out of obscurity|strong="H0652", and out of darkness|strong="H2822".

The meek|strong="H6035" also shall increase|strong="H3254" their joy|strong="H8057" in the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and the poor|strong="H0034" among men|strong="H0120" shall rejoice|strong="H1523" in the Holy One|strong="H6918" of Israel|strong="H3478".

For the terrible one|strong="H6184" is brought to nought|strong="H0656", and the scorner|strong="H3887" is consumed|strong="H3615", and all that watch|strong="H8245" for iniquity|strong="H0205" are cut off|strong="H3772":

That make a man|strong="H0120" an offender|strong="H2398" for a word|strong="H1697", and lay a snare|strong="H6983" for him that reproveth|strong="H3198" in the gate|strong="H8179", and turn aside|strong="H5186" the just|strong="H6662" for a thing of nought|strong="H8414".

Therefore thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, who redeemed|strong="H6299" Abraham|strong="H0085", concerning the house|strong="H1004" of Jacob|strong="H3290", Jacob|strong="H3290" shall not now be ashamed|strong="H0954", neither shall his face|strong="H6440" now wax pale|strong="H2357".

But when he seeth|strong="H7200" his children|strong="H3206", the work|strong="H4639" of mine hands|strong="H3027", in the midst|strong="H7130" of him, they shall sanctify|strong="H6942" my name|strong="H8034", and sanctify|strong="H6942" the Holy One|strong="H6918" of Jacob|strong="H3290", and shall fear|strong="H6206" the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478".

They also that erred|strong="H8582" in spirit|strong="H7307" shall come|strong="H3045" to understanding|strong="H0998", and they that murmured|strong="H7279" shall learn|strong="H3925" doctrine|strong="H3948".
