1 Jacó habitou na terra das peregrinações de seu pai, na terra de Canaã.
2 These are the generations|strong="H8435" of Jacob|strong="H3290". Joseph|strong="H3130", being seventeen|strong="H6240" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121", was feeding|strong="H7462" the flock|strong="H6629" with his brethren|strong="H0251"; and the lad|strong="H5288" was with the sons|strong="H1121" of Bilhah|strong="H1090", and with the sons|strong="H1121" of Zilpah|strong="H2153", his father’s|strong="H0001" wives|strong="H0802": and Joseph|strong="H3130" brought|strong="H0935" unto his father|strong="H0001" their evil|strong="H7451" report|strong="H1681".
2 Esta é a história de Jacó. Quando José tinha dezessete anos, apascentava os rebanhos com os seus irmãos. Sendo ainda jovem, acompanhava os filhos de Bila e os filhos de Zilpa, mulheres de seu pai; e trazia más notícias deles a seu pai.
3 Now Israel|strong="H3478" loved|strong="H0157" Joseph|strong="H3130" more than all his children|strong="H1121", because he was the son|strong="H1121" of his old age|strong="H2208": and he made|strong="H6213" him a coat|strong="H3801" of many colours|strong="H6446".
3 Ora, Israel amava mais José do que todos os seus outros filhos, porque era filho da sua velhice; e mandou fazer para ele uma túnica talar de mangas compridas.
4 And when his brethren|strong="H0251" saw|strong="H7200" that their father|strong="H0001" loved|strong="H0157" him more than all his brethren|strong="H0251", they hated|strong="H8130" him, and could|strong="H3201" not speak|strong="H1696" peaceably|strong="H7965" unto him.
4 Quando os seus irmãos viram que o pai o amava mais do que todos os outros filhos, odiaram-no e já não podiam falar com ele de forma pacífica.
5 And Joseph|strong="H3130" dreamed|strong="H2492" a dream|strong="H2472", and he told|strong="H5046" it his brethren|strong="H0251": and they hated|strong="H8130" him yet the more|strong="H3254".
5 José teve um sonho e o contou aos seus irmãos; por isso, o odiaram ainda mais.
6 And he said|strong="H0559" unto them, Hear|strong="H8085", I pray you, this dream|strong="H2472" which I have dreamed|strong="H2492":
6 Ele lhes disse: — Peço que ouçam o sonho que tive.
7 For, behold, we were binding|strong="H0481" sheaves|strong="H0485" in the field|strong="H7704", and, lo, my sheaf|strong="H0485" arose|strong="H6965", and also stood upright|strong="H5324"; and, behold, your sheaves|strong="H0485" stood round about|strong="H5437", and made obeisance|strong="H7812" to my sheaf|strong="H0485".
7 Sonhei que estávamos amarrando feixes no campo, e eis que o meu feixe se levantou e ficou em pé, enquanto os feixes de vocês o rodeavam e se inclinavam diante do meu.
8 And his brethren|strong="H0251" said|strong="H0559" to him, Shalt thou indeed|strong="H4427" reign|strong="H4427" over us? or shalt thou indeed|strong="H4910" have dominion|strong="H4910" over us? And they hated|strong="H8130" him yet the more|strong="H3254" for his dreams|strong="H2472", and for his words|strong="H1697".
8 Então os irmãos lhe disseram: — Você pensa que vai mesmo reinar sobre nós? Pensa que realmente dominará sobre nós? E com isso o odiavam ainda mais, por causa dos seus sonhos e de suas palavras.
9 And he dreamed|strong="H2492" yet another|strong="H0312" dream|strong="H2472", and told|strong="H5608" it his brethren|strong="H0251", and said|strong="H0559", Behold, I have dreamed|strong="H2492" a dream|strong="H2472" more; and, behold, the sun|strong="H8121" and the moon|strong="H3394" and the eleven|strong="H6240" stars|strong="H3556" made obeisance|strong="H7812" to me.
9 José teve ainda outro sonho, que ele contou aos seus irmãos, dizendo: — Sonhei também que o sol, a lua e onze estrelas se inclinavam diante de mim.
10 And he told|strong="H5608" it to his father|strong="H0001", and to his brethren|strong="H0251": and his father|strong="H0001" rebuked|strong="H1605" him, and said|strong="H0559" unto him, What is this dream|strong="H2472" that thou hast dreamed|strong="H2492"? Shall I and thy mother|strong="H0517" and thy brethren|strong="H0251" indeed|strong="H0935" come|strong="H0935" to bow down|strong="H7812" ourselves to thee to the earth|strong="H0776"?
10 Quando José contou esse sonho ao pai e aos seus irmãos, o pai o repreendeu, dizendo: — Que sonho é esse que você teve? Você está querendo dizer que eu, a sua mãe e os seus irmãos iremos e nos inclinaremos até o chão diante de você?
11 And his brethren|strong="H0251" envied|strong="H7065" him; but his father|strong="H0001" observed|strong="H8104" the saying|strong="H1697".
11 Os irmãos tinham inveja dele; o pai, no entanto, guardou aquilo no coração.
12 And his brethren|strong="H0251" went|strong="H3212" to feed|strong="H7462" their father’s|strong="H0001" flock|strong="H6629" in Shechem|strong="H7927".
12 Como os irmãos foram apascentar o rebanho do pai, em Siquém,
13 And Israel|strong="H3478" said|strong="H0559" unto Joseph|strong="H3130", Do not thy brethren|strong="H0251" feed|strong="H7462" the flock in Shechem|strong="H7927"? come|strong="H3212", and I will send thee|strong="H7971" unto them. And he said|strong="H0559" to him, Here am I.
13 Israel perguntou a José: — Os seus irmãos não estão apascentando o rebanho em Siquém? Venha, pois vou mandar você até eles. José respondeu: — Eis-me aqui.
14 And he said|strong="H0559" to him, Go|strong="H3212", I pray thee, see|strong="H7200" whether it be well|strong="H7965" with thy brethren|strong="H0251", and well|strong="H7965" with the flocks|strong="H6629"; and bring|strong="H7725" me word|strong="H1697" again|strong="H7725". So he sent|strong="H7971" him out of the vale|strong="H6010" of Hebron|strong="H2275", and he came|strong="H0935" to Shechem|strong="H7927".
14 Israel continuou: — Vá, agora, e veja se está tudo bem com os seus irmãos e com o rebanho; e traga-me notícias. Assim, o enviou do vale de Hebrom, e ele foi a Siquém.
15 And a certain man|strong="H0376" found him|strong="H4672", and, behold, he was wandering|strong="H8582" in the field|strong="H7704": and the man|strong="H0376" asked him|strong="H7592", saying|strong="H0559", What seekest|strong="H1245" thou?
15 E um homem encontrou José, que andava errante pelo campo, e lhe perguntou: — O que você está procurando?
16 And he said|strong="H0559", I seek|strong="H1245" my brethren|strong="H0251": tell|strong="H5046" me, I pray thee, where|strong="H0375" they feed|strong="H7462" their flocks.
16 Ele respondeu: — Estou procurando os meus irmãos. Por favor, pode me dizer onde eles estão apascentando o rebanho?
17 And the man|strong="H0376" said|strong="H0559", They are departed|strong="H5265" hence|strong="H2088"; for I heard|strong="H8085" them say|strong="H0559", Let us go|strong="H3212" to Dothan|strong="H1886". And Joseph|strong="H3130" went|strong="H3212" after|strong="H0310" his brethren|strong="H0251", and found|strong="H4672" them in Dothan|strong="H1886".
17 O homem respondeu: — Foram embora daqui. Ouvi quando disseram: “Vamos a Dotã.” Então José seguiu atrás dos irmãos e os encontrou em Dotã.
18 And when they saw|strong="H7200" him afar off|strong="H7350", even before he came near|strong="H7126" unto them, they conspired|strong="H5230" against him to slay|strong="H4191" him.
18 De longe eles o viram e, antes que chegasse, conspiraram contra ele para o matar.
19 And they said|strong="H0559" one|strong="H0376" to another|strong="H0251", Behold, this|strong="H1976" dreamer|strong="H1167" cometh|strong="H0935".
19 Disseram uns aos outros: — Lá vem o grande sonhador!
20 Come|strong="H3212" now therefore, and let us slay|strong="H2026" him, and cast|strong="H7993" him into some|strong="H0259" pit|strong="H0953", and we will say|strong="H0559", Some evil|strong="H7451" beast|strong="H2416" hath devoured|strong="H0398" him: and we shall see|strong="H7200" what will become of his dreams|strong="H2472".
20 Venham, pois, agora, vamos matá-lo e jogar o corpo numa destas cisternas. Diremos que um animal selvagem o devorou. Vejamos em que vão dar os sonhos dele.
21 And Reuben|strong="H7205" heard|strong="H8085" it, and he delivered|strong="H5337" him out of their hands|strong="H3027"; and said|strong="H0559", Let us not kill|strong="H5221" him.
21 Mas Rúben, ouvindo isso, livrou-o das mãos deles e disse: — Não lhe tiremos a vida.
22 And Reuben|strong="H7205" said|strong="H0559" unto them, Shed|strong="H8210" no blood|strong="H1818", but cast|strong="H7993" him into this pit|strong="H0953" that is in the wilderness|strong="H4057", and lay|strong="H7971" no hand|strong="H3027" upon him; that he might rid|strong="H5337" him out of their hands|strong="H3027", to deliver|strong="H7725" him to his father|strong="H0001" again|strong="H7725".
22 Rúben disse mais: — Não derramem sangue. Joguem o rapaz naquela cisterna que está no deserto, e não lhe façam mal. Rúben disse isto para o livrar deles, a fim de levá-lo de volta ao pai.
23 And it came to pass, when Joseph|strong="H3130" was come|strong="H0935" unto his brethren|strong="H0251", that they stript|strong="H6584" Joseph|strong="H3130" out of|strong="H0854" his coat|strong="H3801", his coat|strong="H3801" of many colours|strong="H6446" that was on him;
23 Mas, logo que José chegou a seus irmãos, despiram-no da túnica, a túnica talar de mangas compridas que trazia,
24 And they took|strong="H3947" him, and cast|strong="H7993" him into a pit|strong="H0953": and the pit|strong="H0953" was empty|strong="H7386", there was no water|strong="H4325" in it.
24 e o jogaram na cisterna. A cisterna estava vazia, sem água.
25 And they sat down|strong="H3427" to eat|strong="H0398" bread|strong="H3899": and they lifted up|strong="H5375" their eyes|strong="H5869" and looked|strong="H7200", and, behold, a company|strong="H0736" of Ishmeelites|strong="H3459" came|strong="H0935" from Gilead|strong="H1568" with their camels|strong="H1581" bearing|strong="H5375" spicery|strong="H5219" and balm|strong="H6875" and myrrh|strong="H3910", going|strong="H1980" to carry it down|strong="H3381" to Egypt|strong="H4714".
25 Depois sentaram-se para comer. Levantando os olhos, viram que uma caravana de ismaelitas vinha de Gileade. Seus camelos traziam especiarias, bálsamo e mirra, que levavam para o Egito.
26 And Judah|strong="H3063" said|strong="H0559" unto his brethren|strong="H0251", What profit|strong="H1215" is it if we slay|strong="H2026" our brother|strong="H0251", and conceal|strong="H3680" his blood|strong="H1818"?
26 Então Judá disse aos irmãos: — O que vamos ganhar se matarmos o nosso irmão e depois escondermos a sua morte?
27 Come|strong="H3212", and let us sell|strong="H4376" him to the Ishmeelites|strong="H3459", and let not our hand|strong="H3027" be upon him; for he is our brother|strong="H0251" and our flesh|strong="H1320". And his brethren|strong="H0251" were content|strong="H8085".
27 Venham, vamos vendê-lo aos ismaelitas. Não lhe façamos mal, pois é nosso irmão, é do nosso sangue. Seus irmãos concordaram.
28 Then there passed|strong="H5674" by Midianites|strong="H4084" merchantmen|strong="H0582"; and they drew|strong="H4900" and lifted up|strong="H5927" Joseph|strong="H3130" out of the pit|strong="H0953", and sold|strong="H4376" Joseph|strong="H3130" to the Ishmeelites|strong="H3459" for twenty|strong="H6242" pieces of silver|strong="H3701": and they brought|strong="H0935" Joseph|strong="H3130" into Egypt|strong="H4714".
28 E, quando os mercadores midianitas passaram, os irmãos de José o tiraram da cisterna e o venderam aos ismaelitas por vinte moedas de prata. E os ismaelitas levaram José para o Egito.
29 And Reuben|strong="H7205" returned|strong="H7725" unto the pit|strong="H0953"; and, behold, Joseph|strong="H3130" was not in the pit|strong="H0953"; and he rent|strong="H7167" his clothes|strong="H0899".
29 Quando Rúben voltou à cisterna, eis que José não estava nela; então rasgou as suas roupas.
30 And he returned|strong="H7725" unto his brethren|strong="H0251", and said|strong="H0559", The child|strong="H3206" is not; and I, whither|strong="H0575" shall I go|strong="H0935"?
30 E, voltando aos seus irmãos, disse: — O rapaz não está mais lá! E agora, o que eu vou fazer?
31 And they took|strong="H3947" Joseph’s|strong="H3130" coat|strong="H3801", and killed|strong="H7819" a kid|strong="H8163" of the goats|strong="H5795", and dipped|strong="H2881" the coat|strong="H3801" in the blood|strong="H1818";
31 Então pegaram a túnica de José, mataram um bode e molharam a túnica no sangue.
32 And they sent|strong="H7971" the coat|strong="H3801" of many colours|strong="H6446", and they brought|strong="H0935" it to their father|strong="H0001"; and said|strong="H0559", This have we found|strong="H4672": know|strong="H5234" now whether it be thy son’s|strong="H1121" coat|strong="H3801" or no.
32 E enviaram a túnica de mangas compridas ao pai com este recado: — Achamos isto. Veja se é ou não a túnica de seu filho.
33 And he knew it|strong="H5234", and said|strong="H0559", It is my son’s|strong="H1121" coat|strong="H3801"; an evil|strong="H7451" beast|strong="H2416" hath devoured|strong="H0398" him; Joseph|strong="H3130" is without doubt|strong="H2963" rent in pieces|strong="H2963".
33 Ele a reconheceu e disse: — É a túnica de meu filho. Um animal selvagem o devorou. Certamente José foi despedaçado.
34 And Jacob|strong="H3290" rent|strong="H7167" his clothes|strong="H8071", and put|strong="H7760" sackcloth|strong="H8242" upon his loins|strong="H4975", and mourned|strong="H0056" for his son|strong="H1121" many|strong="H7227" days|strong="H3117".
34 Então Jacó rasgou as suas roupas, vestiu-se de pano de saco e lamentou o filho durante muitos dias.
35 And all his sons|strong="H1121" and all his daughters|strong="H1323" rose up|strong="H6965" to comfort|strong="H5162" him; but he refused|strong="H3985" to be comforted|strong="H5162"; and he said|strong="H0559", For I will go down|strong="H3381" into the grave|strong="H7585" unto my son|strong="H1121" mourning|strong="H0057". Thus his father|strong="H0001" wept|strong="H1058" for him.
35 Todos os seus filhos e todas as suas filhas vieram, para o consolar; ele, porém, recusou ser consolado e disse: — Chorando, descerei à sepultura para junto do meu filho. E continuou a chorar pelo filho.
36 And the Midianites|strong="H4092" sold|strong="H4376" him into Egypt|strong="H4714" unto Potiphar|strong="H6318", an officer|strong="H5631" of Pharaoh’s|strong="H6547", and captain|strong="H8269" of the guard|strong="H2876".
36 Enquanto isso, no Egito, os midianitas venderam José a Potifar, oficial de Faraó, comandante da guarda.
