2 And he said|strong="H0559", Behold now, I am old|strong="H2204", I know|strong="H3045" not the day|strong="H3117" of my death|strong="H4194":
3 Now therefore take|strong="H5375", I pray thee, thy weapons|strong="H3627", thy quiver|strong="H8522" and thy bow|strong="H7198", and go out|strong="H3318" to the field|strong="H7704", and take|strong="H6679" me some venison|strong="H6718";
4 And make|strong="H6213" me savoury meat|strong="H4303", such as|strong="H0834" I love|strong="H0157", and bring|strong="H0935" it to me, that I may eat|strong="H0398"; that my soul|strong="H5315" may bless|strong="H1288" thee before|strong="H2962" I die|strong="H4191".
5 And Rebekah|strong="H7259" heard|strong="H8085" when Isaac|strong="H3327" spake|strong="H1696" to Esau|strong="H6215" his son|strong="H1121". And Esau|strong="H6215" went|strong="H3212" to the field|strong="H7704" to hunt|strong="H6679" for venison|strong="H6718", and to bring|strong="H0935" it.
6 And Rebekah|strong="H7259" spake|strong="H0559" unto Jacob|strong="H3290" her son|strong="H1121", saying|strong="H0559", Behold, I heard|strong="H8085" thy father|strong="H0001" speak|strong="H1696" unto Esau|strong="H6215" thy brother|strong="H0251", saying|strong="H0559",
7 Bring|strong="H0935" me venison|strong="H6718", and make|strong="H6213" me savoury meat|strong="H4303", that I may eat|strong="H0398", and bless|strong="H1288" thee before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* before|strong="H6440" my death|strong="H4194".
8 Now therefore, my son|strong="H1121", obey|strong="H8085" my voice|strong="H6963" according to that which|strong="H0834" I command|strong="H6680" thee.
9 Go|strong="H3212" now to the flock|strong="H6629", and fetch|strong="H3947" me from thence two|strong="H8147" good|strong="H2896" kids|strong="H1423" of the goats|strong="H5795"; and I will make|strong="H6213" them savoury meat|strong="H4303" for thy father|strong="H0001", such as he loveth|strong="H0157":
10 And thou shalt bring|strong="H0935" it to thy father|strong="H0001", that he may eat|strong="H0398", and that|strong="H0834" he may bless|strong="H1288" thee before|strong="H6440" his death|strong="H4194".
11 And Jacob|strong="H3290" said|strong="H0559" to Rebekah|strong="H7259" his mother|strong="H0517", Behold, Esau|strong="H6215" my brother|strong="H0251" is a hairy|strong="H8163" man|strong="H0376", and I am a smooth|strong="H2509" man|strong="H0376":
12 My father|strong="H0001" peradventure will feel|strong="H4959" me, and I shall seem|strong="H5869" to him as a deceiver|strong="H8591"; and I shall bring|strong="H0935" a curse|strong="H7045" upon me, and not a blessing|strong="H1293".
13 And his mother|strong="H0517" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Upon me be thy curse|strong="H7045", my son|strong="H1121": only obey|strong="H8085" my voice|strong="H6963", and go|strong="H3212" fetch|strong="H3947" me them.
14 And he went|strong="H3212", and fetched|strong="H3947", and brought|strong="H0935" them to his mother|strong="H0517": and his mother|strong="H0517" made|strong="H6213" savoury meat|strong="H4303", such as his father|strong="H0001" loved|strong="H0157".
15 And Rebekah|strong="H7259" took|strong="H3947" goodly|strong="H2532" raiment|strong="H0899" of her eldest|strong="H1419" son|strong="H1121" Esau|strong="H6215", which were with her in the house|strong="H1004", and put them upon|strong="H3847" Jacob|strong="H3290" her younger|strong="H6996" son|strong="H1121":
16 And she put|strong="H3847" the skins|strong="H5785" of the kids|strong="H1423" of the goats|strong="H5795" upon his hands|strong="H3027", and upon the smooth|strong="H2513" of his neck|strong="H6677":
17 And she gave|strong="H5414" the savoury meat|strong="H4303" and the bread|strong="H3899", which she had prepared|strong="H6213", into the hand|strong="H3027" of her son|strong="H1121" Jacob|strong="H3290".
18 And he came|strong="H0935" unto his father|strong="H0001", and said|strong="H0559", My father|strong="H0001": and he said|strong="H0559", Here am I; who art thou, my son|strong="H1121"?
19 And Jacob|strong="H3290" said|strong="H0559" unto his father|strong="H0001", I am Esau|strong="H6215" thy firstborn|strong="H1060"; I have done|strong="H6213" according as thou badest|strong="H1696" me: arise|strong="H6965", I pray thee, sit|strong="H3427" and eat|strong="H0398" of my venison|strong="H6718", that thy soul|strong="H5315" may bless|strong="H1288" me.
20 And Isaac|strong="H3327" said|strong="H0559" unto his son|strong="H1121", How is it that thou hast found|strong="H4672" it so quickly|strong="H4116", my son|strong="H1121"? And he said|strong="H0559", Because the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" brought|strong="H7136" it to me|strong="H6440".
21 And Isaac|strong="H3327" said|strong="H0559" unto Jacob|strong="H3290", Come near|strong="H5066", I pray thee, that I may feel|strong="H4184" thee, my son|strong="H1121", whether thou be my very|strong="H2088" son|strong="H1121" Esau|strong="H6215" or not.
22 And Jacob|strong="H3290" went near|strong="H5066" unto Isaac|strong="H3327" his father|strong="H0001"; and he felt|strong="H4959" him, and said|strong="H0559", The voice|strong="H6963" is Jacob’s|strong="H3290" voice|strong="H6963", but the hands|strong="H3027" are the hands|strong="H3027" of Esau|strong="H6215".
23 And he discerned|strong="H5234" him not, because his hands|strong="H3027" were hairy|strong="H8163", as his brother|strong="H0251" Esau’s|strong="H6215" hands|strong="H3027": so he blessed|strong="H1288" him.
24 And he said|strong="H0559", Art thou my very son|strong="H1121" Esau|strong="H6215"? And he said|strong="H0559", I am.
25 And he said|strong="H0559", Bring it near|strong="H5066" to me, and I will eat|strong="H0398" of my son’s|strong="H1121" venison|strong="H6718", that my soul|strong="H5315" may bless|strong="H1288" thee. And he brought it near|strong="H5066" to him, and he did eat|strong="H0398": and he brought|strong="H0935" him wine|strong="H3196", and he drank|strong="H8354".
26 And his father|strong="H0001" Isaac|strong="H3327" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Come near|strong="H5066" now, and kiss|strong="H5401" me, my son|strong="H1121".
27 And he came near|strong="H5066", and kissed|strong="H5401" him: and he smelled|strong="H7306" the smell|strong="H7381" of his raiment|strong="H0899", and blessed|strong="H1288" him, and said|strong="H0559", See|strong="H7200", the smell|strong="H7381" of my son|strong="H1121" is as the smell|strong="H7381" of a field|strong="H7704" which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath blessed|strong="H1288":
28 Therefore God|strong="H0430" give|strong="H5414" thee of the dew|strong="H2919" of heaven|strong="H8064", and the fatness|strong="H4924" of the earth|strong="H0776", and plenty|strong="H7230" of corn|strong="H1715" and wine|strong="H8492":
29 Let people|strong="H5971" serve|strong="H5647" thee, and nations|strong="H3816" bow down|strong="H7812" to thee: be|strong="H1933" lord|strong="H1376" over thy brethren|strong="H0251", and let thy mother’s|strong="H0517" sons|strong="H1121" bow down|strong="H7812" to thee: cursed|strong="H0779" be every one that curseth|strong="H0779" thee, and blessed|strong="H1288" be he that blesseth|strong="H1288" thee.
30 And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac|strong="H3327" had made an end|strong="H3615" of blessing|strong="H1288" Jacob|strong="H3290", and Jacob|strong="H3290" was yet|strong="H0389" scarce|strong="H3318" gone out|strong="H3318" from the presence|strong="H6440" of Isaac|strong="H3327" his father|strong="H0001", that Esau|strong="H6215" his brother|strong="H0251" came in|strong="H0935" from his hunting|strong="H6718".
31 And he also had made|strong="H6213" savoury meat|strong="H4303", and brought it|strong="H0935" unto his father|strong="H0001", and said|strong="H0559" unto his father|strong="H0001", Let my father|strong="H0001" arise|strong="H6965", and eat|strong="H0398" of his son’s|strong="H1121" venison|strong="H6718", that thy soul|strong="H5315" may bless|strong="H1288" me.
32 And Isaac|strong="H3327" his father|strong="H0001" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Who art thou? And he said|strong="H0559", I am thy son|strong="H1121", thy firstborn|strong="H1060" Esau|strong="H6215".
33 And Isaac|strong="H3327" trembled|strong="H2729" very|strong="H1419" exceedingly|strong="H3966", and said|strong="H0559", Who? where|strong="H0645" is he that hath taken|strong="H6679" venison|strong="H6718", and brought|strong="H0935" it me, and I have eaten|strong="H0398" of all before thou camest|strong="H0935", and have blessed|strong="H1288" him? yea, and he shall be blessed|strong="H1288".
34 And when Esau|strong="H6215" heard|strong="H8085" the words|strong="H1697" of his father|strong="H0001", he cried|strong="H6817" with a great|strong="H1419" and exceeding|strong="H3966" bitter|strong="H4751" cry|strong="H6818", and said|strong="H0559" unto his father|strong="H0001", Bless|strong="H1288" me, even me also, O my father|strong="H0001".
35 And he said|strong="H0559", Thy brother|strong="H0251" came|strong="H0935" with subtilty|strong="H4820", and hath taken away|strong="H3947" thy blessing|strong="H1293".
36 And he said|strong="H0559", Is not he rightly|strong="H3588" named|strong="H7121" Jacob|strong="H3290"? for he hath supplanted me|strong="H6117" these|strong="H2088" two times|strong="H6471": he took away|strong="H3947" my birthright|strong="H1062"; and, behold, now he hath taken away|strong="H3947" my blessing|strong="H1293". And he said|strong="H0559", Hast thou not reserved|strong="H0680" a blessing|strong="H1293" for me?
37 And Isaac|strong="H3327" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559" unto Esau|strong="H6215", Behold, I have made|strong="H7760" him thy lord|strong="H1376", and all his brethren|strong="H0251" have I given|strong="H5414" to him for servants|strong="H5650"; and with corn|strong="H1715" and wine|strong="H8492" have I sustained|strong="H5564" him: and what shall I do|strong="H6213" now|strong="H0645" unto thee, my son|strong="H1121"?
38 And Esau|strong="H6215" said|strong="H0559" unto his father|strong="H0001", Hast thou but one|strong="H0259" blessing|strong="H1293", my father|strong="H0001"? bless|strong="H1288" me, even me also, O my father|strong="H0001". And Esau|strong="H6215" lifted up|strong="H5375" his voice|strong="H6963", and wept|strong="H1058".
39 And Isaac|strong="H3327" his father|strong="H0001" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Behold, thy dwelling|strong="H4186" shall be the fatness|strong="H4924" of the earth|strong="H0776", and of the dew|strong="H2919" of heaven|strong="H8064" from above|strong="H5920";
40 And by thy sword|strong="H2719" shalt thou live|strong="H2421", and shalt serve|strong="H5647" thy brother|strong="H0251"; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion|strong="H7300", that thou shalt break|strong="H6561" his yoke|strong="H5923" from off thy neck|strong="H6677".
41 And Esau|strong="H6215" hated|strong="H7852" Jacob|strong="H3290" because|strong="H5921" of the blessing|strong="H1293" wherewith|strong="H0834" his father|strong="H0001" blessed him|strong="H1288": and Esau|strong="H6215" said|strong="H0559" in his heart|strong="H3820", The days|strong="H3117" of mourning|strong="H0060" for my father|strong="H0001" are at hand|strong="H7126"; then will I slay|strong="H2026" my brother|strong="H0251" Jacob|strong="H3290".
42 And these words|strong="H1697" of Esau|strong="H6215" her elder|strong="H1419" son|strong="H1121" were told|strong="H5046" to Rebekah|strong="H7259": and she sent|strong="H7971" and called|strong="H7121" Jacob|strong="H3290" her younger|strong="H6996" son|strong="H1121", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Behold, thy brother|strong="H0251" Esau|strong="H6215", as touching thee, doth comfort|strong="H5162" himself, purposing to kill|strong="H2026" thee.
43 Now therefore, my son|strong="H1121", obey|strong="H8085" my voice|strong="H6963"; and arise|strong="H6965", flee|strong="H1272" thou to Laban|strong="H3837" my brother|strong="H0251" to Haran|strong="H2771";
44 And tarry|strong="H3427" with him a few|strong="H0259" days|strong="H3117", until|strong="H0834" thy brother’s|strong="H0251" fury|strong="H2534" turn away|strong="H7725";
45 Until thy brother’s|strong="H0251" anger|strong="H0639" turn away|strong="H7725" from thee, and he forget|strong="H7911" that which thou hast done|strong="H6213" to him: then I will send|strong="H7971", and fetch|strong="H3947" thee from thence: why|strong="H4100" should I be deprived|strong="H7921" also of you both|strong="H8147" in one|strong="H0259" day|strong="H3117"?
46 And Rebekah|strong="H7259" said|strong="H0559" to Isaac|strong="H3327", I am weary|strong="H6973" of my life|strong="H2416" because|strong="H6440" of the daughters|strong="H1323" of Heth|strong="H2845": if Jacob|strong="H3290" take|strong="H3947" a wife|strong="H0802" of the daughters|strong="H1323" of Heth|strong="H2845", such as these which are of the daughters|strong="H1323" of the land|strong="H0776", what good|strong="H4100" shall my life|strong="H2416" do me?
