When thou goest out|strong="H3318" to battle|strong="H4421" against thine enemies|strong="H0341", and seest|strong="H7200" horses|strong="H5483", and chariots|strong="H7393", and a people|strong="H5971" more|strong="H7227" than thou, be not afraid|strong="H3372" of them: for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" is with thee, which brought thee up|strong="H5927" out of the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714".
And it shall be, when ye are come nigh|strong="H7126" unto the battle|strong="H4421", that the priest|strong="H3548" shall approach|strong="H5066" and speak|strong="H1696" unto the people|strong="H5971",
And shall say|strong="H0559" unto them, Hear|strong="H8085", O Israel|strong="H3478", ye approach|strong="H7131" this day|strong="H3117" unto battle|strong="H4421" against your enemies|strong="H0341": let not your hearts|strong="H3824" faint|strong="H7401", fear|strong="H3372" not, and do not tremble|strong="H2648", neither be ye terrified|strong="H6206" because|strong="H6440" of them;
For the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430" is he that goeth|strong="H1980" with you, to fight|strong="H3898" for you against your enemies|strong="H0341", to save|strong="H3467" you.
And the officers|strong="H7860" shall speak|strong="H1696" unto the people|strong="H5971", saying|strong="H0559", What man|strong="H0376" is there that hath built|strong="H1129" a new|strong="H2319" house|strong="H1004", and hath not dedicated|strong="H2596" it? let him go|strong="H3212" and return|strong="H7725" to his house|strong="H1004", lest he die|strong="H4191" in the battle|strong="H4421", and another|strong="H0312" man|strong="H0376" dedicate|strong="H2596" it.
And what man|strong="H0376" is he that hath planted|strong="H5193" a vineyard|strong="H3754", and hath not yet eaten|strong="H2490" of it? let him also go|strong="H3212" and return|strong="H7725" unto his house|strong="H1004", lest he die|strong="H4191" in the battle|strong="H4421", and another|strong="H0312" man|strong="H0376" eat|strong="H2490" of it.
And what man|strong="H0376" is there that hath betrothed|strong="H0781" a wife|strong="H0802", and hath not taken|strong="H3947" her? let him go|strong="H3212" and return|strong="H7725" unto his house|strong="H1004", lest he die|strong="H4191" in the battle|strong="H4421", and another|strong="H0312" man|strong="H0376" take|strong="H3947" her.
And the officers|strong="H7860" shall speak|strong="H1696" further|strong="H3254" unto the people|strong="H5971", and they shall say|strong="H0559", What man|strong="H0376" is there that is fearful|strong="H3373" and fainthearted|strong="H7390"? let him go|strong="H3212" and return|strong="H7725" unto his house|strong="H1004", lest his brethren’s|strong="H0251" heart|strong="H3824" faint|strong="H4549" as well as his heart|strong="H3824".
And it shall be, when the officers|strong="H7860" have made an end|strong="H3615" of speaking|strong="H1696" unto the people|strong="H5971", that they shall make|strong="H6485" captains|strong="H8269" of the armies|strong="H6635" to lead|strong="H7218" the people|strong="H5971".
When thou comest nigh|strong="H7126" unto a city|strong="H5892" to fight|strong="H3898" against it, then proclaim|strong="H7121" peace|strong="H7965" unto it.
And it shall be, if it make thee answer|strong="H6030" of peace|strong="H7965", and open|strong="H6605" unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people|strong="H5971" that is found|strong="H4672" therein shall be tributaries|strong="H4522" unto thee, and they shall serve|strong="H5647" thee.
And if it will make no peace|strong="H7999" with thee, but will make|strong="H6213" war|strong="H4421" against thee, then thou shalt besiege|strong="H6696" it:
And when the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" hath delivered|strong="H5414" it into thine hands|strong="H3027", thou shalt smite|strong="H5221" every male|strong="H2138" thereof with the edge|strong="H6310" of the sword|strong="H2719":
But the women|strong="H0802", and the little ones|strong="H2945", and the cattle|strong="H0929", and all that is in the city|strong="H5892", even all the spoil|strong="H7998" thereof, shalt thou take|strong="H0962" unto thyself; and thou shalt eat|strong="H0398" the spoil|strong="H7998" of thine enemies|strong="H0341", which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" hath given|strong="H5414" thee.
Thus shalt thou do|strong="H6213" unto all the cities|strong="H5892" which are very|strong="H3966" far off|strong="H7350" from thee, which|strong="H2007" are not of the cities|strong="H5892" of these nations|strong="H1471".
But of the cities|strong="H5892" of these people|strong="H5971", which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" doth give|strong="H5414" thee for an inheritance|strong="H5159", thou shalt save alive|strong="H2421" nothing that breatheth|strong="H5397":
But thou shalt utterly|strong="H2763" destroy|strong="H2763" them; namely, the Hittites|strong="H2850", and the Amorites|strong="H0567", the Canaanites|strong="H3669", and the Perizzites|strong="H6522", the Hivites|strong="H2340", and the Jebusites|strong="H2983"; as the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" hath commanded|strong="H6680" thee:
That they teach|strong="H3925" you not to do|strong="H6213" after all their abominations|strong="H8441", which they have done|strong="H6213" unto their gods|strong="H0430"; so should ye sin|strong="H2398" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* your God|strong="H0430".
When thou shalt besiege|strong="H6696" a city|strong="H5892" a long|strong="H7227" time|strong="H3117", in making war|strong="H3898" against it to take|strong="H8610" it, thou shalt not destroy|strong="H7843" the trees|strong="H6086" thereof by forcing|strong="H5080" an axe|strong="H1631" against them: for thou mayest eat|strong="H0398" of them, and thou shalt not cut them down|strong="H3772" (for the tree|strong="H6086" of the field|strong="H7704" is man’s|strong="H0120" life) to employ|strong="H0935" them in the siege|strong="H6440":
Only the trees|strong="H6086" which thou knowest|strong="H3045" that they be not trees|strong="H6086" for meat|strong="H3978", thou shalt destroy|strong="H7843" and cut them down|strong="H3772"; and thou shalt build|strong="H1129" bulwarks|strong="H4692" against the city|strong="H5892" that maketh|strong="H6213" war|strong="H4421" with thee, until it be subdued|strong="H3381".
