When the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" hath cut off|strong="H3772" the nations|strong="H1471", whose land|strong="H0776" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" giveth|strong="H5414" thee, and thou succeedest|strong="H3423" them, and dwellest|strong="H3427" in their cities|strong="H5892", and in their houses|strong="H1004";
Thou shalt separate|strong="H0914" three|strong="H7969" cities|strong="H5892" for thee in the midst|strong="H8432" of thy land|strong="H0776", which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" giveth|strong="H5414" thee to possess|strong="H3423" it.
Thou shalt prepare|strong="H3559" thee a way|strong="H1870", and divide the coasts|strong="H1366" of thy land|strong="H0776", which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" giveth thee to inherit|strong="H5157", into three parts|strong="H8027", that every slayer|strong="H7523" may flee|strong="H5127" thither.
And this is the case|strong="H1697" of the slayer|strong="H7523", which shall flee|strong="H5127" thither, that he may live|strong="H2425": Whoso killeth|strong="H5221" his neighbour|strong="H7453" ignorantly|strong="H1097", whom he hated|strong="H8130" not in time|strong="H8543" past|strong="H8032";
As when a man goeth|strong="H0935" into the wood|strong="H3293" with his neighbour|strong="H7453" to hew|strong="H2404" wood|strong="H6086", and his hand|strong="H3027" fetcheth a stroke|strong="H5080" with the axe|strong="H1631" to cut down|strong="H3772" the tree|strong="H6086", and the head|strong="H1270" slippeth|strong="H5394" from the helve|strong="H6086", and lighteth|strong="H4672" upon his neighbour|strong="H7453", that he die|strong="H4191"; he shall flee|strong="H5127" unto one|strong="H0259" of those cities|strong="H5892", and live|strong="H2425":
Lest the avenger|strong="H1350" of the blood|strong="H1818" pursue|strong="H7291" the slayer|strong="H0310", while|strong="H3588" his heart|strong="H3824" is hot|strong="H3179", and overtake|strong="H5381" him, because the way|strong="H1870" is long|strong="H7235", and slay|strong="H5221" him|strong="H5315"; whereas he was not worthy|strong="H4941" of death|strong="H4194", inasmuch as|strong="H3588" he hated|strong="H8130" him not in time|strong="H8543" past|strong="H8032".
Wherefore I command|strong="H6680" thee, saying|strong="H0559", Thou shalt separate|strong="H0914" three|strong="H7969" cities|strong="H5892" for thee.
And if the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" enlarge|strong="H7337" thy coast|strong="H1366", as he hath sworn|strong="H7650" unto thy fathers|strong="H0001", and give|strong="H5414" thee all the land|strong="H0776" which he promised|strong="H1696" to give|strong="H5414" unto thy fathers|strong="H0001";
If thou shalt keep|strong="H8104" all these commandments|strong="H4687" to do|strong="H6213" them, which I command|strong="H6680" thee this day|strong="H3117", to love|strong="H0157" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430", and to walk|strong="H3212" ever|strong="H3117" in his ways|strong="H1870"; then shalt thou add|strong="H3254" three|strong="H7969" cities|strong="H5892" more for thee, beside these three|strong="H7969":
That innocent|strong="H5355" blood|strong="H1818" be not shed|strong="H8210" in|strong="H7130" thy land|strong="H0776", which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" giveth|strong="H5414" thee for an inheritance|strong="H5159", and so blood|strong="H1818" be upon thee.
But if any man|strong="H0376" hate|strong="H8130" his neighbour|strong="H7453", and lie in wait|strong="H0693" for him, and rise up|strong="H6965" against him, and smite|strong="H5221" him mortally|strong="H5315" that he die|strong="H4191", and fleeth|strong="H5127" into one|strong="H0259" of these|strong="H0411" cities|strong="H5892":
Then the elders|strong="H2205" of his city|strong="H5892" shall send|strong="H7971" and fetch|strong="H3947" him thence, and deliver|strong="H5414" him into the hand|strong="H3027" of the avenger|strong="H1350" of blood|strong="H1818", that he may die|strong="H4191".
Thine eye|strong="H5869" shall not pity|strong="H2347" him, but thou shalt put away|strong="H1197" the guilt of innocent|strong="H5355" blood|strong="H1818" from Israel|strong="H3478", that it may go well|strong="H2895" with thee.
Thou shalt not remove|strong="H5253" thy neighbour’s|strong="H7453" landmark|strong="H1366", which they of old time|strong="H7223" have set|strong="H1379" in thine inheritance|strong="H5159", which thou shalt inherit|strong="H5157" in the land|strong="H0776" that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* thy God|strong="H0430" giveth|strong="H5414" thee to possess|strong="H3423" it.
One|strong="H0259" witness|strong="H5707" shall not rise up|strong="H6965" against a man|strong="H0376" for any iniquity|strong="H5771", or for any sin|strong="H2403", in any sin|strong="H2399" that he sinneth|strong="H2398": at the mouth|strong="H6310" of two|strong="H8147" witnesses|strong="H5707", or at the mouth|strong="H6310" of three|strong="H7969" witnesses|strong="H5707", shall the matter|strong="H1697" be established|strong="H6965".
If a false|strong="H2555" witness|strong="H5707" rise up|strong="H6965" against any man|strong="H0376" to testify|strong="H6030" against him that which is wrong|strong="H5627";
Then both|strong="H8147" the men|strong="H0582", between whom the controversy|strong="H7379" is, shall stand|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, before|strong="H6440" the priests|strong="H3548" and the judges|strong="H8199", which shall be in those days|strong="H3117";
And the judges|strong="H8199" shall make diligent|strong="H3190" inquisition|strong="H1875": and, behold, if the witness|strong="H5707" be a false|strong="H8267" witness|strong="H5707", and hath testified|strong="H6030" falsely|strong="H8267" against his brother|strong="H0251";
Then shall ye do|strong="H6213" unto him, as he had thought|strong="H2161" to have done|strong="H6213" unto his brother|strong="H0251": so shalt thou put|strong="H1197" the evil|strong="H7451" away|strong="H1197" from among|strong="H7130" you.
And those which remain|strong="H7604" shall hear|strong="H8085", and fear|strong="H3372", and shall henceforth|strong="H3254" commit|strong="H6213" no more any|strong="H1697" such evil|strong="H7451" among|strong="H7130" you.
And thine eye|strong="H5869" shall not pity|strong="H2347"; but life|strong="H5315" shall go for life|strong="H5315", eye|strong="H5869" for eye|strong="H5869", tooth|strong="H8127" for tooth|strong="H8127", hand|strong="H3027" for hand|strong="H3027", foot|strong="H7272" for foot|strong="H7272".
