2 And|strong="G1161" the barbarous people|strong="G0915" shewed|strong="G3930" us|strong="G2254" no|strong="G3756" little|strong="G5177" kindness|strong="G5363": for|strong="G1063" they kindled|strong="G0381" a fire|strong="G4443", and received|strong="G4355" us|strong="G2248" every one|strong="G3956", because|strong="G1223" of the present|strong="G2186" rain|strong="G5205", and|strong="G2532" because|strong="G1223" of the cold|strong="G5592".
3 And|strong="G1161" when Paul|strong="G3972" had gathered|strong="G4962" a bundle|strong="G4128" of sticks|strong="G5434", and|strong="G2532" laid|strong="G2007" them on|strong="G1909" the fire|strong="G4443", there came|strong="G1831" a viper|strong="G2191" out of|strong="G1537" the heat|strong="G2329", and fastened on|strong="G2510" his|strong="G0846" hand|strong="G5495".
4 And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G5613" the barbarians|strong="G0915" saw|strong="G1492" the|strong="G2342" venomous beast|strong="G2342" hang|strong="G2910" on|strong="G1537" his|strong="G0846" hand|strong="G5495", they said|strong="G3004" among|strong="G4314" themselves|strong="G0240", No doubt|strong="G3843" this|strong="G3778" man|strong="G0444" is|strong="G2076" a murderer|strong="G5406", whom|strong="G3739", though he hath escaped|strong="G1295" the|strong="G1537" sea|strong="G2281", yet vengeance|strong="G1349" suffereth|strong="G1439" not|strong="G3756" to live|strong="G2198".
5 And|strong="G3767" he shook off|strong="G0660" the beast|strong="G2342" into|strong="G1519" the fire|strong="G4442", and felt|strong="G3958" no|strong="G3762" harm|strong="G2556".
6 Howbeit|strong="G1161" they looked|strong="G4328" when he|strong="G0846" should|strong="G3195" have swollen|strong="G4092", or|strong="G2228" fallen down|strong="G2667" dead|strong="G3498" suddenly|strong="G0869": but|strong="G1161" after they|strong="G0846" had looked|strong="G4328" a great while|strong="G4183", and|strong="G2532" saw|strong="G2334" no|strong="G3367" harm|strong="G0824" come|strong="G1096" to|strong="G1519" him|strong="G0846", they changed their minds|strong="G3328", and said that|strong="G3004" he|strong="G0846" was|strong="G1511" a god|strong="G2316".
7 In|strong="G1722" the same|strong="G1565" quarters|strong="G5117" were|strong="G5225" possessions|strong="G5564" of|strong="G4012" the chief man|strong="G4413" of the island|strong="G3520", whose name|strong="G3686" was Publius|strong="G4196"; who|strong="G3739" received|strong="G0324" us|strong="G2248", and lodged us|strong="G3579" three|strong="G5140" days|strong="G2250" courteously|strong="G5390".
8 And|strong="G1161" it came to pass|strong="G1096", that the father|strong="G3962" of Publius|strong="G4196" lay|strong="G2621" sick|strong="G4912" of a fever|strong="G4446" and|strong="G2532" of a bloody flux|strong="G1420": to|strong="G4314" whom|strong="G3739" Paul|strong="G3972" entered in|strong="G1525", and|strong="G2532" prayed|strong="G4336", and laid|strong="G2007" his hands|strong="G5495" on him|strong="G0846", and healed|strong="G2390" him|strong="G0846".
9 So|strong="G3767" when this|strong="G5127" was done|strong="G1096", others|strong="G3062" also|strong="G2532", which|strong="G3588" had|strong="G2192" diseases|strong="G0769" in|strong="G1722" the island|strong="G3520", came|strong="G4334", and|strong="G2532" were healed|strong="G2323":
10 Who|strong="G3739" also|strong="G2532" honoured|strong="G5091" us|strong="G2248" with many|strong="G4183" honours|strong="G5092"; and|strong="G2532" when we departed|strong="G0321", they laded|strong="G2007" us with such things|strong="G3588" as were|strong="G4314" necessary|strong="G5532".
11 And|strong="G1161" after|strong="G3326" three|strong="G5140" months|strong="G3376" we departed|strong="G0321" in|strong="G1722" a ship|strong="G4143" of Alexandria|strong="G0222", which had wintered|strong="G3914" in|strong="G1722" the isle|strong="G3520", whose sign|strong="G3902" was Castor and Pollux|strong="G1359".
12 And|strong="G2532" landing|strong="G2609" at|strong="G1519" Syracuse|strong="G4946", we tarried|strong="G1961" there three|strong="G5140" days|strong="G2250".
13 And from thence|strong="G3606" we fetched a compass|strong="G4022", and came|strong="G2658" to|strong="G1519" Rhegium|strong="G4484": and|strong="G2532" after|strong="G3326" one|strong="G1520" day|strong="G2250" the south wind|strong="G3558" blew|strong="G1920", and we came|strong="G2064" the next day|strong="G1206" to|strong="G1519" Puteoli|strong="G4223":
14 Where|strong="G3757" we found|strong="G2147" brethren|strong="G0080", and were desired|strong="G3870" to tarry|strong="G1961" with|strong="G1909" them|strong="G0846" seven|strong="G2033" days|strong="G2250": and|strong="G2532" so|strong="G3779" we went|strong="G2064" toward|strong="G1519" Rome|strong="G4516".
15 And from thence|strong="G2547", when the brethren|strong="G0080" heard|strong="G0191" of|strong="G4012" us|strong="G2257", they came|strong="G1831" to|strong="G1519" meet|strong="G0529" us|strong="G2254" as far as|strong="G0891" Appii|strong="G0675" forum|strong="G5410", and|strong="G2532" The three|strong="G5140" taverns|strong="G4999": whom|strong="G3739" when Paul|strong="G3972" saw|strong="G1492", he thanked|strong="G2168" God|strong="G2316", and took|strong="G2983" courage|strong="G2294".
16 And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G3753" we came|strong="G2064" to|strong="G1519" Rome|strong="G4516", the centurion|strong="G1543" delivered|strong="G3860" the prisoners|strong="G1198" to the captain of the guard|strong="G4759": but|strong="G1161" Paul|strong="G3972" was suffered|strong="G2010" to dwell|strong="G3306" by|strong="G2596" himself|strong="G1438" with|strong="G4862" a soldier|strong="G4757" that kept|strong="G5442" him|strong="G0846".
17 And|strong="G1161" it came to pass|strong="G1096", that after|strong="G3326" three|strong="G5140" days|strong="G2250" Paul|strong="G3972" called|strong="G4779" the chief|strong="G4413" of the Jews|strong="G2453" together|strong="G4779": and|strong="G1161" when|strong="G5607" they were|strong="G0846" come together|strong="G4905", he said|strong="G3004" unto|strong="G4314" them|strong="G0846", Men|strong="G0435" and brethren|strong="G0080", though I|strong="G1473" have committed|strong="G4160" nothing|strong="G3762" against|strong="G1727" the people|strong="G2992", or|strong="G2228" customs|strong="G1485" of our fathers|strong="G3971", yet was I delivered|strong="G3860" prisoner|strong="G1198" from|strong="G1537" Jerusalem|strong="G2414" into|strong="G1519" the hands|strong="G5495" of the Romans|strong="G4514".
18 Who|strong="G3748", when they had examined|strong="G0350" me|strong="G3165", would have|strong="G1014" let|strong="G0630" me go|strong="G0630", because|strong="G1223" there was|strong="G5225" no|strong="G3367" cause|strong="G0156" of death|strong="G2288" in|strong="G1722" me|strong="G1698".
19 But|strong="G1161" when the Jews|strong="G2453" spake against|strong="G0483" it, I was constrained|strong="G0315" to appeal|strong="G1941" unto Cæsar|strong="G2541"; not|strong="G3756" that|strong="G5613" I had|strong="G2192" ought|strong="G5100" to accuse|strong="G2723" my|strong="G3450" nation|strong="G1484" of|strong="G2723".
20 For|strong="G1223" this|strong="G3778" cause|strong="G0156" therefore|strong="G3767" have I called|strong="G3870" for you|strong="G5209", to see|strong="G1492" you, and|strong="G2532" to speak with|strong="G4354" you: because that|strong="G1752" for|strong="G1063" the hope|strong="G1680" of Israel|strong="G2474" I am bound with|strong="G4029" this|strong="G3778" chain|strong="G0254".
21 And|strong="G1161" they said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846", We|strong="G2249" neither|strong="G3777" received|strong="G1209" letters|strong="G1121" out|strong="G0575" of Judæa|strong="G2449" concerning|strong="G4012" thee|strong="G4675", neither|strong="G3777" any|strong="G5100" of the brethren|strong="G0080" that came|strong="G3854" shewed|strong="G0518" or|strong="G2228" spake|strong="G2980" any|strong="G5100" harm|strong="G4190" of|strong="G4012" thee|strong="G4675".
22 But|strong="G1161" we desire|strong="G0515" to hear|strong="G0191" of|strong="G3844" thee|strong="G4675" what|strong="G3739" thou thinkest|strong="G5426": for|strong="G1063" as|strong="G3303" concerning|strong="G4012" this|strong="G3778" sect|strong="G0139", we|strong="G2254" know|strong="G1110" that|strong="G3754" every where|strong="G3837" it is|strong="G2076" spoken against|strong="G0483".
23 And|strong="G1161" when they had appointed|strong="G5021" him|strong="G0846" a day|strong="G2250", there came|strong="G2240" many|strong="G4119" to|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846" into|strong="G1519" his lodging|strong="G3578"; to whom|strong="G3739" he expounded|strong="G1620" and|strong="G5037" testified|strong="G1263" the kingdom|strong="G0932" of God|strong="G2316", persuading|strong="G3982" them|strong="G0846" concerning|strong="G4012" Jesus|strong="G2424", both|strong="G5037" out|strong="G0575" of the law|strong="G3551" of Moses|strong="G3475", and|strong="G2532" out of the prophets|strong="G4396", from|strong="G0575" morning|strong="G4404" till|strong="G2193" evening|strong="G2073".

25 And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G5607" they agreed not|strong="G0800" among|strong="G4314" themselves|strong="G0240", they departed|strong="G0630", after that Paul|strong="G3972" had spoken|strong="G2036" one|strong="G1520" word|strong="G4487", Well|strong="G2573" spake|strong="G2980" the Holy|strong="G0040" Ghost|strong="G4151" by|strong="G1223" Esaias|strong="G2268" the prophet|strong="G4396" unto|strong="G4314" our|strong="G2257" fathers|strong="G3962",
26 Saying|strong="G3004", Go|strong="G4198" unto|strong="G4314" this|strong="G5126" people|strong="G2992", and|strong="G2532" say|strong="G2036", Hearing|strong="G0189" ye shall hear|strong="G0191", and|strong="G2532" shall|strong="G4920" not|strong="G3756" understand|strong="G4920"; and|strong="G2532" seeing|strong="G0991" ye shall see|strong="G0991", and|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" perceive|strong="G1492":
27 For|strong="G1063" the heart|strong="G2588" of this|strong="G5127" people|strong="G2992" is waxed gross|strong="G3975", and|strong="G2532" their ears|strong="G3775" are|strong="G0191" dull of|strong="G0917" hearing|strong="G0191", and|strong="G2532" their|strong="G0846" eyes|strong="G3788" have they closed|strong="G2576"; lest|strong="G3379" they should see|strong="G1492" with|strong="G3788" their eyes|strong="G3788", and|strong="G2532" hear|strong="G0191" with|strong="G3775" their ears|strong="G3775", and|strong="G2532" understand|strong="G4920" with|strong="G2588" their heart|strong="G2588", and|strong="G2532" should be converted|strong="G1994", and|strong="G2532" I should heal|strong="G2390" them|strong="G0846".
28 Be it|strong="G2077" known|strong="G1110" therefore|strong="G3767" unto you|strong="G5213", that|strong="G3754" the salvation|strong="G4992" of God|strong="G2316" is sent|strong="G0649" unto the Gentiles|strong="G1484", and|strong="G2532" that they|strong="G0846" will hear it|strong="G0191".
29 And|strong="G2532" when he|strong="G0846" had said|strong="G2036" these words|strong="G5023", the Jews|strong="G2453" departed|strong="G0565", and had|strong="G2192" great|strong="G4183" reasoning|strong="G4803" among|strong="G1722" themselves|strong="G1438".
30 And|strong="G1161" Paul|strong="G3972" dwelt|strong="G3306" two|strong="G1333" whole|strong="G3650" years|strong="G1333" in|strong="G1722" his own|strong="G2398" hired house|strong="G3410", and|strong="G2532" received|strong="G0588" all|strong="G3956" that came in|strong="G1531" unto|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846",
31 Preaching|strong="G2784" the kingdom|strong="G0932" of God|strong="G2316", and|strong="G2532" teaching|strong="G1321" those things|strong="G3588" which concern|strong="G4012" the Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547", with|strong="G3326" all|strong="G3956" confidence|strong="G3954", no man forbidding him|strong="G0209".
