Atos 16

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Then|strong="G1161" came he|strong="G2658" to|strong="G1519" Derbe|strong="G1191" and|strong="G2532" Lystra|strong="G3082": and|strong="G2532", behold|strong="G2400", a certain|strong="G5100" disciple|strong="G3101" was|strong="G2258" there|strong="G1563", named|strong="G3686" Timotheus|strong="G5095", the son|strong="G5207" of a certain|strong="G5100" woman|strong="G1135", which was a Jewess|strong="G2453", and believed|strong="G4103"; but|strong="G1161" his father|strong="G3962" was a Greek|strong="G1672":

Which|strong="G3739" was well reported|strong="G3140" of|strong="G5259" by the brethren|strong="G0080" that were|strong="G3588" at|strong="G1722" Lystra|strong="G3082" and|strong="G2532" Iconium|strong="G2430".

Him|strong="G5126" would|strong="G2309" Paul|strong="G3972" have to go forth|strong="G1831" with|strong="G4862" him|strong="G0846"; and|strong="G2532" took|strong="G2983" and circumcised|strong="G4059" him|strong="G0846" because|strong="G1223" of the Jews|strong="G2453" which were|strong="G5607" in|strong="G1722" those|strong="G1565" quarters|strong="G5117": for|strong="G1063" they knew|strong="G1492" all|strong="G0537" that|strong="G3754" his|strong="G0846" father|strong="G3962" was|strong="G5225" a Greek|strong="G1672".

And|strong="G1161" as|strong="G5613" they went through|strong="G1279" the cities|strong="G4172", they delivered|strong="G3860" them|strong="G0846" the decrees|strong="G1378" for to keep|strong="G5442", that were ordained|strong="G2919" of|strong="G5259" the apostles|strong="G0652" and|strong="G2532" elders|strong="G4245" which were|strong="G3588" at|strong="G1722" Jerusalem|strong="G2419".

And|strong="G3303" so|strong="G3767" were|strong="G4732" the churches|strong="G1577" established|strong="G4732" in|strong="G2596" the faith|strong="G4102", and|strong="G2532" increased|strong="G4052" in number|strong="G0706" daily|strong="G2250".

Now|strong="G1161" when they had gone throughout|strong="G1330" Phrygia|strong="G5435" and|strong="G2532" the region|strong="G5561" of Galatia|strong="G1054", and were forbidden|strong="G2967" of|strong="G5259" the Holy|strong="G0040" Ghost|strong="G4151" to preach|strong="G2980" the word|strong="G3056" in|strong="G1722" Asia|strong="G0773",

After|strong="G2596" they were come|strong="G2064" to Mysia|strong="G3465", they assayed|strong="G3985" to go|strong="G4198" into|strong="G2596" Bithynia|strong="G0978": but|strong="G2532" the Spirit|strong="G4151" suffered|strong="G1439" them|strong="G0846" not|strong="G3756".

And|strong="G1161" they passing|strong="G3928" by Mysia|strong="G3465" came down|strong="G2597" to|strong="G1519" Troas|strong="G5174".

And|strong="G2532" a vision|strong="G3705" appeared|strong="G3700" to Paul|strong="G3972" in|strong="G1223" the night|strong="G3571"; There stood|strong="G2476" a man|strong="G0435" of Macedonia|strong="G3110", and|strong="G2532" prayed|strong="G3870" him|strong="G0846", saying|strong="G3004", Come over|strong="G1224" into|strong="G1519" Macedonia|strong="G3109", and help|strong="G0997" us|strong="G2254".

And|strong="G1161" after|strong="G5613" he had seen|strong="G1492" the vision|strong="G3705", immediately|strong="G2112" we endeavoured|strong="G2212" to go|strong="G1831" into|strong="G1519" Macedonia|strong="G3109", assuredly gathering|strong="G4822" that|strong="G3754" the Lord|strong="G2962" had called|strong="G4341" us|strong="G2248" for to preach the gospel|strong="G2097" unto them|strong="G0846".

Therefore|strong="G3767" loosing|strong="G0321" from|strong="G0575" Troas|strong="G5174", we came with a straight course|strong="G2113" to|strong="G1519" Samothracia|strong="G4543", and|strong="G5037" the next|strong="G1966" day to|strong="G1519" Neapolis|strong="G3496";

And|strong="G5037" from thence|strong="G1564" to|strong="G1519" Philippi|strong="G5375", which|strong="G3748" is|strong="G2076" the chief|strong="G4413" city|strong="G4172" of that part|strong="G3310" of Macedonia|strong="G3109", and a colony|strong="G2862": and|strong="G1161" we were|strong="G1510" in|strong="G1722" that|strong="G3778" city|strong="G4172" abiding|strong="G1304" certain|strong="G5100" days|strong="G2250".

And|strong="G5037" on the sabbath|strong="G4521" we went|strong="G1831" out of|strong="G1854" the city|strong="G4172" by|strong="G3844" a river side|strong="G4215", where|strong="G3757" prayer|strong="G4335" was wont|strong="G3543" to be made|strong="G1511"; and|strong="G2532" we sat down|strong="G2523", and spake|strong="G2980" unto the women|strong="G1135" which|strong="G3588" resorted|strong="G4905" thither.

And|strong="G2532" a certain|strong="G5100" woman|strong="G1135" named|strong="G3686" Lydia|strong="G3070", a seller of purple|strong="G4211", of the city|strong="G4172" of Thyatira|strong="G2363", which|strong="G3739" worshipped|strong="G4576" God|strong="G2316", heard|strong="G0191" us: whose heart|strong="G2588" the Lord|strong="G2962" opened|strong="G1272", that she attended unto|strong="G4337" the things which|strong="G3588" were spoken|strong="G2980" of|strong="G5259" Paul|strong="G3972".

And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G5613" she was baptized|strong="G0907", and|strong="G2532" her|strong="G0846" household|strong="G3624", she besought|strong="G3870" us, saying|strong="G3004", If|strong="G1487" ye have judged|strong="G2919" me|strong="G3165" to be|strong="G1511" faithful|strong="G4103" to the Lord|strong="G2962", come|strong="G1525" into|strong="G1519" my|strong="G3450" house|strong="G3624", and abide|strong="G3306" there. And|strong="G2532" she constrained|strong="G3849" us|strong="G2248".

And|strong="G1161" it came to pass|strong="G1096", as we|strong="G2257" went|strong="G4198" to|strong="G1519" prayer|strong="G4335", a certain|strong="G5100" damsel|strong="G3814" possessed|strong="G2192" with a spirit|strong="G4151" of divination|strong="G4436" met|strong="G0528" us|strong="G2254", which|strong="G3748" brought|strong="G3930" her|strong="G0846" masters|strong="G2962" much|strong="G4183" gain|strong="G2039" by soothsaying|strong="G3132":

The same|strong="G3778" followed|strong="G2628" Paul|strong="G3972" and|strong="G2532" us|strong="G2254", and cried|strong="G2896", saying|strong="G3004", These|strong="G3778" men|strong="G0444" are|strong="G1526" the servants|strong="G1401" of the most high|strong="G5310" God|strong="G2316", which|strong="G3748" shew unto|strong="G2605" us|strong="G2254" the way|strong="G3598" of salvation|strong="G4991".

And|strong="G1161" this|strong="G5124" did she|strong="G4160" many|strong="G4183" days|strong="G2250". But|strong="G1161" Paul|strong="G3972", being grieved|strong="G1278", turned|strong="G1994" and|strong="G2532" said|strong="G2036" to the spirit|strong="G4151", I command|strong="G3853" thee|strong="G4671" in|strong="G1722" the name|strong="G3686" of Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547" to come out|strong="G1831" of|strong="G0575" her|strong="G0846". And|strong="G2532" he came out|strong="G1831" the same|strong="G0846" hour|strong="G5610".

And|strong="G1161" when her|strong="G0846" masters|strong="G2962" saw|strong="G1492" that|strong="G3754" the hope|strong="G1680" of their|strong="G0846" gains|strong="G2039" was gone|strong="G1831", they caught|strong="G1949" Paul|strong="G3972" and|strong="G2532" Silas|strong="G4609", and drew|strong="G1670" them into|strong="G1519" the marketplace|strong="G0058" unto|strong="G1909" the rulers|strong="G0758",

And|strong="G2532" brought|strong="G4317" them|strong="G0846" to the magistrates|strong="G4755", saying|strong="G2036", These|strong="G3778" men|strong="G0444", being|strong="G5225" Jews|strong="G2453", do exceedingly trouble|strong="G1613" our|strong="G2257" city|strong="G4172",

And|strong="G2532" teach|strong="G2605" customs|strong="G1485", which|strong="G3739" are|strong="G1832" not|strong="G3756" lawful|strong="G1832" for us|strong="G2254" to receive|strong="G3858", neither|strong="G3761" to observe|strong="G4160", being|strong="G5607" Romans|strong="G4514".

And|strong="G2532" the multitude|strong="G3793" rose up together|strong="G4911" against|strong="G2596" them|strong="G0846": and|strong="G2532" the magistrates|strong="G4755" rent off|strong="G4048" their|strong="G0846" clothes|strong="G2440", and commanded|strong="G2753" to beat|strong="G4463" them.

And|strong="G5037" when they had laid|strong="G2007" many|strong="G4183" stripes|strong="G4127" upon them|strong="G0846", they cast|strong="G0906" them into|strong="G1519" prison|strong="G5438", charging|strong="G3853" the jailor|strong="G1200" to keep|strong="G5083" them|strong="G0846" safely|strong="G0806":

Who|strong="G3739", having received|strong="G2983" such|strong="G5108" a charge|strong="G3852", thrust|strong="G0906" them|strong="G0846" into|strong="G1519" the inner|strong="G2082" prison|strong="G5438", and|strong="G2532" made|strong="G0805" their|strong="G0846" feet|strong="G4228" fast|strong="G0805" in|strong="G1519" the stocks|strong="G3586".

And|strong="G1161" at|strong="G2596" midnight|strong="G3317" Paul|strong="G3972" and|strong="G2532" Silas|strong="G4609" prayed|strong="G4336", and sang praises|strong="G5214" unto God|strong="G2316": and|strong="G1161" the prisoners|strong="G1198" heard|strong="G1874" them|strong="G0846".

And|strong="G1161" suddenly|strong="G0869" there was|strong="G1096" a great|strong="G3173" earthquake|strong="G4578", so that|strong="G5620" the foundations|strong="G2310" of the prison|strong="G1201" were shaken|strong="G4531": and|strong="G5037" immediately|strong="G3916" all|strong="G3956" the doors|strong="G2374" were opened|strong="G0455", and|strong="G2532" every one’s|strong="G3956" bands|strong="G1199" were loosed|strong="G0447".

And|strong="G1161" the keeper of the prison|strong="G1200" awaking out|strong="G1096" of his sleep|strong="G1853", and|strong="G2532" seeing|strong="G1492" the prison|strong="G5438" doors|strong="G2374" open|strong="G0455", he drew out|strong="G4685" his sword|strong="G3162", and would|strong="G3195" have killed|strong="G0337" himself|strong="G1438", supposing that|strong="G3543" the prisoners|strong="G1198" had been fled|strong="G1628".

But|strong="G1161" Paul|strong="G3972" cried|strong="G5455" with a loud|strong="G3173" voice|strong="G5456", saying|strong="G3004", Do|strong="G4238" thyself|strong="G4572" no|strong="G3367" harm|strong="G2556": for|strong="G1063" we are|strong="G2070" all|strong="G0537" here|strong="G1759".

Then|strong="G1161" he called|strong="G0154" for a light|strong="G5457", and sprang in|strong="G1530", and|strong="G2532" came|strong="G1096" trembling|strong="G1790", and fell down|strong="G4363" before Paul|strong="G3972" and|strong="G2532" Silas|strong="G4609",

And|strong="G2532" brought|strong="G4254" them|strong="G0846" out|strong="G1854", and said|strong="G5346", Sirs|strong="G2962", what|strong="G5101" must|strong="G1163" I|strong="G3165" do|strong="G4160" to be|strong="G2443" saved|strong="G4982"?

And|strong="G1161" they said|strong="G2036", Believe|strong="G4100" on|strong="G1909" the Lord|strong="G2962" Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547", and|strong="G2532" thou|strong="G4771" shalt be saved|strong="G4982", and|strong="G2532" thy|strong="G4675" house|strong="G3624".

And|strong="G2532" they spake|strong="G2980" unto him|strong="G0846" the word|strong="G3056" of the Lord|strong="G2962", and|strong="G2532" to all|strong="G3956" that were|strong="G3588" in|strong="G1722" his|strong="G0846" house|strong="G3614".

And|strong="G2532" he took|strong="G3880" them|strong="G0846" the same|strong="G1565" hour|strong="G5610" of the night|strong="G3571", and washed|strong="G3068" their stripes|strong="G4127"; and|strong="G2532" was baptized|strong="G0907", he|strong="G0846" and|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956" his|strong="G0846", straightway|strong="G3916".

And|strong="G5037" when he had brought|strong="G0321" them|strong="G0846" into|strong="G1519" his|strong="G0846" house|strong="G3624", he set|strong="G3908" meat|strong="G5132" before them|strong="G3908", and|strong="G2532" rejoiced|strong="G0021", believing|strong="G4100" in God|strong="G2316" with all his house|strong="G3832".

And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G1096" it was day|strong="G2250", the magistrates|strong="G4755" sent|strong="G0649" the serjeants|strong="G4465", saying|strong="G3004", Let|strong="G0630" those|strong="G1565" men|strong="G0444" go|strong="G0630".

And|strong="G1161" the keeper of the prison|strong="G1200" told|strong="G0518" this|strong="G5128" saying|strong="G3056" to|strong="G4314" Paul|strong="G3972", The magistrates|strong="G4755" have sent|strong="G0649" to|strong="G2443" let you go|strong="G0630": now|strong="G3568" therefore|strong="G3767" depart|strong="G1831", and go|strong="G4198" in|strong="G1722" peace|strong="G1515".

But|strong="G1161" Paul|strong="G3972" said|strong="G5346" unto|strong="G4314" them|strong="G0846", They have beaten|strong="G1194" us|strong="G2248" openly|strong="G1219" uncondemned|strong="G0178", being|strong="G5225" Romans|strong="G4514", and have cast|strong="G0906" us into|strong="G1519" prison|strong="G5438"; and|strong="G2532" now|strong="G3568" do they thrust|strong="G1544" us|strong="G2248" out|strong="G1544" privily|strong="G2977"? nay|strong="G3756" verily|strong="G1063"; but|strong="G0235" let them come|strong="G2064" themselves|strong="G0846" and fetch|strong="G1806" us|strong="G2248" out|strong="G1806".

And|strong="G1161" the serjeants|strong="G4465" told|strong="G0312" these|strong="G5023" words|strong="G4487" unto the magistrates|strong="G4755": and|strong="G2532" they feared|strong="G5399", when they heard|strong="G0191" that|strong="G3754" they were|strong="G1526" Romans|strong="G4514".

And|strong="G2532" they came|strong="G2064" and besought|strong="G3870" them|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" brought|strong="G1806" them out|strong="G1806", and desired|strong="G2065" them to depart|strong="G1831" out of the city|strong="G4172".

And|strong="G1161" they went|strong="G1831" out of|strong="G1537" the prison|strong="G5438", and entered|strong="G1525" into|strong="G1519" the house of Lydia|strong="G3070": and|strong="G2532" when they had seen|strong="G1492" the brethren|strong="G0080", they comforted|strong="G3870" them|strong="G0846", and|strong="G2532" departed|strong="G1831".
