1 O Senhor Deus me mostrou numa visão o seguinte: estava ali uma cesta cheia de frutas maduras.
2 And he said|strong="H0559", Amos|strong="H5986", what seest|strong="H7200" thou? And I said|strong="H0559", A basket|strong="H3619" of summer fruit|strong="H7019". 5 Vocês dizem: “Quem dera que a Festa da Lua Nova já tivesse terminado para que pudéssemos voltar a vender os cereais! Como seria bom se o sábado já tivesse passado! Aí começaríamos a vender trigo de novo, cobrando preços bem altos, usando pesos e medidas falsos
6 That we may buy|strong="H7069" the poor|strong="H1800" for silver|strong="H3701", and the needy|strong="H0034" for a pair of shoes|strong="H5275"; yea, and sell|strong="H7666" the refuse|strong="H4651" of the wheat|strong="H1250"?
6 e vendendo trigo que não presta. Os pobres não terão dinheiro para pagar as suas dívidas, nem mesmo os que tomaram dinheiro emprestado para comprar um par de sandálias. Assim eles se venderão a nós e serão nossos escravos!”
7 The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath sworn|strong="H7650" by the excellency|strong="H1347" of Jacob|strong="H3290", Surely I will never|strong="H5331" forget|strong="H7911" any of their works|strong="H4639".
7 Portanto, o Senhor , o Deus a quem o povo de Israel louva, faz este juramento: — Nunca esquecerei aquilo que o meu povo tem feito.
8 Shall not the land|strong="H0776" tremble|strong="H7264" for this, and every one mourn|strong="H0056" that dwelleth|strong="H3427" therein? and it shall rise up|strong="H5927" wholly as a flood|strong="H2975"; and it shall be cast out|strong="H1644" and drowned|strong="H8257", as by the flood|strong="H0216" of Egypt|strong="H4714".
8 Por causa disso, a terra tremerá, e todos os seus moradores chorarão de tristeza. A terra subirá e baixará como as águas do rio Nilo.
9 And it shall come to pass in that day|strong="H3117", saith|strong="H5002" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*, that I will cause the sun|strong="H8121" to go down|strong="H0935" at noon|strong="H6672", and I will darken|strong="H2821" the earth|strong="H0776" in the clear|strong="H0216" day|strong="H3117":
9 Naquele dia, farei o sol se pôr ao meio-dia, e em pleno dia a terra ficará coberta de escuridão. Sou eu, o Senhor , quem está falando.
10 And I will turn|strong="H2015" your feasts|strong="H2282" into mourning|strong="H0060", and all your songs|strong="H7892" into lamentation|strong="H7015"; and I will bring up|strong="H5927" sackcloth|strong="H8242" upon all loins|strong="H4975", and baldness|strong="H7144" upon every head|strong="H7218"; and I will make|strong="H7760" it as the mourning|strong="H0060" of an only|strong="H3173" son, and the end|strong="H0319" thereof as a bitter|strong="H4751" day|strong="H3117".
10 Transformarei as suas festas em velórios; vocês vão chorar em vez de cantar. Em sinal de luto, vocês vestirão roupa feita de pano grosseiro e raparão a cabeça. Vocês serão como pais chorando a morte do filho único. E tudo terminará em amargura.
11 Behold, the days|strong="H3117" come|strong="H0935", saith|strong="H5002" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*, that I will send|strong="H7971" a famine|strong="H7458" in the land|strong="H0776", not a famine|strong="H7458" of bread|strong="H3899", nor a thirst|strong="H6772" for water|strong="H4325", but of hearing|strong="H8085" the words|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*:
11 — Está chegando o dia em que mandarei fome pelo país inteiro. Todos ficarão com fome, mas não por falta de comida, e com sede, mas não por falta de água. Todos terão fome e sede de ouvir a mensagem de Deus, o Senhor .
12 And they shall wander|strong="H5128" from sea|strong="H3220" to sea|strong="H3220", and from the north|strong="H6828" even to the east|strong="H4217", they shall run to and fro|strong="H7751" to seek|strong="H1245" the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and shall not find|strong="H4672" it.
12 Correrão do mar Morto até o mar Mediterrâneo, irão pelas regiões do Norte e do Leste do país, procurando a mensagem de Deus, o Senhor , mas não a encontrarão.
13 In that day|strong="H3117" shall the fair|strong="H3303" virgins|strong="H1330" and young men|strong="H0970" faint|strong="H5968" for thirst|strong="H6772".
13 Naquele dia, até moços e moças fortes desmaiarão de sede.
14 They that swear|strong="H7650" by the sin|strong="H0819" of Samaria|strong="H8111", and say|strong="H0559", Thy god|strong="H0430", O Dan|strong="H1835", liveth|strong="H2416"; and, The manner|strong="H1870" of Beer-sheba|strong="H0884" liveth|strong="H2416"; even they shall fall|strong="H5307", and never rise up|strong="H6965" again.
14 Os que juram pelos ídolos de Samaria, os que dizem: “Eu juro pelo deus de Dã” ou: “Eu juro pelo deus de Berseba” — todos eles cairão e nunca mais se levantarão. Eu, o Senhor , estou falando.
