Amós 7

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Thus hath the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w* shewed|strong="H7200" unto me; and, behold, he formed|strong="H3335" grasshoppers|strong="H1462" in the beginning|strong="H8462" of the shooting up|strong="H5927" of the latter growth|strong="H3954"; and, lo, it was the latter growth|strong="H3954" after|strong="H0310" the king’s|strong="H4428" mowings|strong="H1488".

And it came to pass, that when they had made an end|strong="H3615" of eating|strong="H0398" the grass|strong="H6212" of the land|strong="H0776", then I said|strong="H0559", O Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*, forgive|strong="H5545", I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob|strong="H3290" arise|strong="H6965"? for he is small|strong="H6996".

The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* repented|strong="H5162" for this: It shall not be, saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

Thus hath the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w* shewed|strong="H7200" unto me: and, behold, the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w* called|strong="H7121" to contend|strong="H7378" by fire|strong="H0784", and it devoured|strong="H0398" the great|strong="H7227" deep|strong="H8415", and did eat up|strong="H0398" a part|strong="H2506".

Then said|strong="H0559" I, O Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*, cease|strong="H2308", I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob|strong="H3290" arise|strong="H6965"? for he is small|strong="H6996".

The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* repented|strong="H5162" for this: This also shall not be, saith|strong="H0559" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*.

Thus he shewed|strong="H7200" me: and, behold, the Lord|strong="H0136" stood|strong="H5324" upon a wall|strong="H2346" made by a plumbline|strong="H0594", with a plumbline|strong="H0594" in his hand|strong="H3027".

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto me, Amos|strong="H5986", what seest|strong="H7200" thou? And I said|strong="H0559", A plumbline|strong="H0594". Then said|strong="H0559" the Lord|strong="H0136", Behold, I will set|strong="H7760" a plumbline|strong="H0594" in the midst|strong="H7130" of my people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478": I will not again|strong="H3254" pass by|strong="H5674" them any more:

And the high places|strong="H1116" of Isaac|strong="H3446" shall be desolate|strong="H8074", and the sanctuaries|strong="H4720" of Israel|strong="H3478" shall be laid waste|strong="H2717"; and I will rise|strong="H6965" against the house|strong="H1004" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379" with the sword|strong="H2719".

Then Amaziah|strong="H0558" the priest|strong="H3548" of Beth-el|strong="H1008" sent|strong="H7971" to Jeroboam|strong="H3379" king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478", saying|strong="H0559", Amos|strong="H5986" hath conspired|strong="H7194" against thee in the midst|strong="H7130" of the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478": the land|strong="H0776" is not able|strong="H3201" to bear|strong="H3557" all his words|strong="H1697".

For thus Amos|strong="H5986" saith|strong="H0559", Jeroboam|strong="H3379" shall die|strong="H4191" by the sword|strong="H2719", and Israel|strong="H3478" shall surely|strong="H1540" be led away captive|strong="H1540" out of their own land|strong="H0127".

Also Amaziah|strong="H0558" said|strong="H0559" unto Amos|strong="H5986", O thou seer|strong="H2374", go|strong="H3212", flee thee away|strong="H1272" into the land|strong="H0776" of Judah|strong="H3063", and there eat|strong="H0398" bread|strong="H3899", and prophesy|strong="H5012" there:

But prophesy|strong="H5012" not again|strong="H3254" any more at Beth-el|strong="H1008": for it is the king’s|strong="H4428" chapel|strong="H4720", and it is the king’s|strong="H4467" court|strong="H1004".

Then answered|strong="H6030" Amos|strong="H5986", and said|strong="H0559" to Amaziah|strong="H0558", I was no prophet|strong="H5030", neither was I a prophet’s|strong="H5030" son|strong="H1121"; but I was an herdman|strong="H0951", and a gatherer|strong="H1103" of sycomore fruit|strong="H8256":

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* took|strong="H3947" me as I followed|strong="H0310" the flock|strong="H6629", and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto me, Go|strong="H3212", prophesy|strong="H5012" unto my people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478".

Now therefore hear|strong="H8085" thou the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: Thou sayest|strong="H0559", Prophesy|strong="H5012" not against Israel|strong="H3478", and drop|strong="H5197" not thy word against the house|strong="H1004" of Isaac|strong="H3446".

Therefore thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; Thy wife|strong="H0802" shall be an harlot|strong="H2181" in the city|strong="H5892", and thy sons|strong="H1121" and thy daughters|strong="H1323" shall fall|strong="H5307" by the sword|strong="H2719", and thy land|strong="H0127" shall be divided|strong="H2505" by line|strong="H2256"; and thou shalt die|strong="H4191" in|strong="H5921" a polluted|strong="H2931" land|strong="H0127": and Israel|strong="H3478" shall surely|strong="H1540" go into captivity|strong="H1540" forth of his land|strong="H0127".
