And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* sent|strong="H7971" Nathan|strong="H5416" unto David|strong="H1732". And he came|strong="H0935" unto him, and said|strong="H0559" unto him, There were two|strong="H8147" men|strong="H0582" in one|strong="H0259" city|strong="H5892"; the one|strong="H0259" rich|strong="H6223", and the other|strong="H0259" poor|strong="H7326".
The rich|strong="H6223" man had exceeding|strong="H3966" many|strong="H7235" flocks|strong="H6629" and herds|strong="H1241":
But the poor|strong="H7326" man had nothing, save one|strong="H0259" little|strong="H6996" ewe lamb|strong="H3535", which he had bought|strong="H7069" and nourished up|strong="H2421": and it grew up|strong="H1431" together|strong="H3162" with him, and with his children|strong="H1121"; it did eat|strong="H0398" of his own meat|strong="H6595", and drank|strong="H8354" of his own cup|strong="H3563", and lay|strong="H7901" in his bosom|strong="H2436", and was unto him as a daughter|strong="H1323".
And there came|strong="H0935" a traveller|strong="H1982" unto the rich|strong="H6223" man|strong="H0376", and he spared|strong="H2550" to take|strong="H3947" of his own flock|strong="H6629" and of his own herd|strong="H1241", to dress|strong="H6213" for the wayfaring man|strong="H0732" that was come|strong="H0935" unto him; but took|strong="H3947" the poor|strong="H7326" man’s|strong="H0376" lamb|strong="H3535", and dressed|strong="H6213" it for the man|strong="H0376" that was come|strong="H0935" to him.
And David’s|strong="H1732" anger|strong="H0639" was greatly|strong="H3966" kindled|strong="H2734" against the man|strong="H0376"; and he said|strong="H0559" to Nathan|strong="H5416", As the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* liveth|strong="H2416", the man|strong="H0376" that hath done|strong="H6213" this thing shall surely|strong="H1121" die|strong="H4194":
And he shall restore|strong="H7999" the lamb|strong="H3535" fourfold|strong="H0706", because|strong="H6118" he did|strong="H6213" this thing|strong="H1697", and because|strong="H0834" he had no pity|strong="H2550".
And Nathan|strong="H5416" said|strong="H0559" to David|strong="H1732", Thou art the man|strong="H0376". Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", I anointed|strong="H4886" thee king|strong="H4428" over Israel|strong="H3478", and I delivered|strong="H5337" thee out of the hand|strong="H3027" of Saul|strong="H7586";
And I gave|strong="H5414" thee thy master’s|strong="H0113" house|strong="H1004", and thy master’s|strong="H0113" wives|strong="H0802" into thy bosom|strong="H2436", and gave|strong="H5414" thee the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478" and of Judah|strong="H3063"; and if that had been too little|strong="H4592", I would moreover have given|strong="H3254" unto thee such|strong="H2007" and such things|strong="H2007".
Wherefore hast thou despised|strong="H0959" the commandment|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, to do|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7451" in his sight|strong="H5869"? thou hast killed|strong="H5221" Uriah|strong="H0223" the Hittite|strong="H2850" with the sword|strong="H2719", and hast taken|strong="H3947" his wife|strong="H0802" to be thy wife|strong="H0802", and hast slain|strong="H2026" him with the sword|strong="H2719" of the children|strong="H1121" of Ammon|strong="H5983".
Now therefore the sword|strong="H2719" shall never|strong="H5704" depart|strong="H5493" from thine house|strong="H1004"; because|strong="H6118" thou hast despised|strong="H0959" me, and hast taken|strong="H3947" the wife|strong="H0802" of Uriah|strong="H0223" the Hittite|strong="H2850" to be thy wife|strong="H0802".
Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, Behold, I will raise up|strong="H6965" evil|strong="H7451" against thee out of thine own house|strong="H1004", and I will take|strong="H3947" thy wives|strong="H0802" before thine eyes|strong="H5869", and give|strong="H5414" them unto thy neighbour|strong="H7453", and he shall lie|strong="H7901" with thy wives|strong="H0802" in the sight|strong="H5869" of this sun|strong="H8121".
For thou didst|strong="H6213" it secretly|strong="H5643": but I will do|strong="H6213" this thing|strong="H1697" before all Israel|strong="H3478", and before the sun|strong="H8121".
And David|strong="H1732" said|strong="H0559" unto Nathan|strong="H5416", I have sinned|strong="H2398" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*. And Nathan|strong="H5416" said|strong="H0559" unto David|strong="H1732", The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* also hath put away|strong="H5674" thy sin|strong="H2403"; thou shalt not die|strong="H4191".
Howbeit|strong="H0657", because by this deed|strong="H1697" thou hast given|strong="H5006" great occasion|strong="H5006" to the enemies|strong="H0341" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* to blaspheme|strong="H5006", the child|strong="H1121" also that is born|strong="H3209" unto thee shall surely|strong="H4191" die|strong="H4191".
And Nathan|strong="H5416" departed|strong="H3212" unto his house|strong="H1004". And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* struck|strong="H5062" the child|strong="H3206" that Uriah’s|strong="H0223" wife|strong="H0802" bare|strong="H3205" unto David|strong="H1732", and it was very sick|strong="H0605".
David|strong="H1732" therefore besought|strong="H1245" God|strong="H0430" for the child|strong="H5288"; and David|strong="H1732" fasted|strong="H6684", and went in|strong="H0935", and lay|strong="H7901" all night|strong="H3885" upon the earth|strong="H0776".
And the elders|strong="H2205" of his house|strong="H1004" arose|strong="H6965", and went to him, to raise him up|strong="H6965" from the earth|strong="H0776": but he would|strong="H0014" not, neither did he eat|strong="H1262" bread|strong="H3899" with them.
And it came to pass on the seventh|strong="H7637" day|strong="H3117", that the child|strong="H3206" died|strong="H4191". And the servants|strong="H5650" of David|strong="H1732" feared|strong="H3372" to tell|strong="H5046" him that the child|strong="H3206" was dead|strong="H4191": for they said|strong="H0559", Behold, while the child|strong="H3206" was yet alive|strong="H2416", we spake|strong="H1696" unto him, and he would not hearken|strong="H8085" unto our voice|strong="H6963": how will he then|strong="H6213" vex|strong="H7451" himself|strong="H6213", if we tell|strong="H0559" him that the child|strong="H3206" is dead|strong="H4191"?
But when David|strong="H1732" saw|strong="H7200" that his servants|strong="H5650" whispered|strong="H3907", David|strong="H1732" perceived|strong="H0995" that the child|strong="H3206" was dead|strong="H4191": therefore David|strong="H1732" said|strong="H0559" unto his servants|strong="H5650", Is the child|strong="H3206" dead|strong="H4191"? And they said|strong="H0559", He is dead|strong="H4191".
Then David|strong="H1732" arose|strong="H6965" from the earth|strong="H0776", and washed|strong="H7364", and anointed|strong="H5480" himself, and changed|strong="H2498" his apparel|strong="H8071", and came|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and worshipped|strong="H7812": then he came|strong="H0935" to his own house|strong="H1004"; and when he required|strong="H7592", they set|strong="H7760" bread|strong="H3899" before him, and he did eat|strong="H0398".
Then said|strong="H0559" his servants|strong="H5650" unto him, What thing|strong="H1697" is this that thou hast done|strong="H6213"? thou didst fast|strong="H6684" and weep|strong="H1058" for the child|strong="H3206", while it was alive|strong="H2416"; but when the child|strong="H3206" was dead|strong="H4191", thou didst rise|strong="H6965" and eat|strong="H0398" bread|strong="H3899".
And he said|strong="H0559", While the child|strong="H3206" was yet alive|strong="H2416", I fasted|strong="H6684" and wept|strong="H1058": for I said|strong="H0559", Who can tell|strong="H3045" whether \+w GOD|strong="H3068"\+w* will be gracious|strong="H2603" to me, that the child|strong="H3206" may live|strong="H2416"?
But now he is dead|strong="H4191", wherefore should I fast|strong="H6684"? can|strong="H3201" I bring him back again|strong="H7725"? I shall go|strong="H1980" to him, but he shall not return|strong="H7725" to me.
And David|strong="H1732" comforted|strong="H5162" Bath-sheba|strong="H1339" his wife|strong="H0802", and went in|strong="H0935" unto her, and lay|strong="H7901" with her: and she bare|strong="H3205" a son|strong="H1121", and he called|strong="H7121" his name|strong="H8034" Solomon|strong="H8010": and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* loved|strong="H0157" him.
And he sent|strong="H7971" by the hand|strong="H3027" of Nathan|strong="H5416" the prophet|strong="H5030"; and he called|strong="H7121" his name|strong="H8034" Jedidiah|strong="H3041", because of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
And Joab|strong="H3097" fought|strong="H3898" against Rabbah|strong="H7237" of the children|strong="H1121" of Ammon|strong="H5983", and took|strong="H3920" the royal|strong="H4410" city|strong="H5892".
And Joab|strong="H3097" sent|strong="H7971" messengers|strong="H4397" to David|strong="H1732", and said|strong="H0559", I have fought|strong="H3898" against Rabbah|strong="H7237", and have taken|strong="H3920" the city|strong="H5892" of waters|strong="H4325".
Now therefore gather|strong="H0622" the rest|strong="H3499" of the people|strong="H5971" together|strong="H0622", and encamp|strong="H2583" against the city|strong="H5892", and take|strong="H3920" it: lest I take|strong="H3920" the city|strong="H5892", and it be called|strong="H7121" after my name|strong="H8034".
And David|strong="H1732" gathered|strong="H0622" all the people|strong="H5971" together|strong="H0622", and went|strong="H3212" to Rabbah|strong="H7237", and fought|strong="H3898" against it, and took|strong="H3920" it.
And he took|strong="H3947" their king’s|strong="H4428" crown|strong="H5850" from off his head|strong="H7218", the weight|strong="H4948" whereof was a talent|strong="H3603" of gold|strong="H2091" with the precious|strong="H3368" stones|strong="H0068": and it was set on David’s|strong="H1732" head|strong="H7218". And he brought forth|strong="H3318" the spoil|strong="H7998" of the city|strong="H5892" in great|strong="H3966" abundance|strong="H7235".
And he brought forth|strong="H3318" the people|strong="H5971" that were therein, and put|strong="H7760" them under saws|strong="H4050", and under harrows|strong="H2757" of iron|strong="H1270", and under axes|strong="H4037" of iron|strong="H1270", and made them pass|strong="H5674" through the brickkiln|strong="H4404": and thus did|strong="H6213" he unto all the cities|strong="H5892" of the children|strong="H1121" of Ammon|strong="H5983". So David|strong="H1732" and all the people|strong="H5971" returned|strong="H7725" unto Jerusalem|strong="H3389".
