1 Josafá, rei de Judá, voltou são e salvo para o seu palácio, em Jerusalém.

3 Mas é verdade que o senhor fez coisas boas: acabou com os postes da deusa Aserá do país e procurou com todo o coração conhecer a vontade de Deus.

4 Josafá continuou morando em Jerusalém, mas tinha o costume de visitar o povo no país inteiro, desde Berseba, no Sul, até a região montanhosa de Efraim, no Norte. Ele fez com que o povo se voltasse para o Senhor , o Deus dos antepassados deles.

5 Colocou juízes em todas as cidades de Judá protegidas por muralhas
6 And said|strong="H0559" to the judges|strong="H8199", Take heed|strong="H7200" what ye do|strong="H6213": for ye judge|strong="H8199" not for man|strong="H0120", but for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, who is with you in the judgment|strong="H1697".
6 e lhes deu a seguinte ordem: — Tenham cuidado quando decidirem algum caso, pois o que vocês fazem é em nome de Deus, o
7 Wherefore now let the fear|strong="H6343" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* be upon you; take heed|strong="H8104" and do|strong="H6213" it: for there is no iniquity|strong="H5766" with the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430", nor respect|strong="H4856" of persons|strong="H6440", nor taking|strong="H4727" of gifts|strong="H7810".
7 Portanto, respeitem a Deus e tenham cuidado com o que vão fazer, pois o Senhor , nosso Deus, não tolera os que cometem injustiça, nem os que usam dois pesos e duas medidas nos julgamentos, nem os que aceitam dinheiro para torcer a justiça.
8 Moreover in Jerusalem|strong="H3389" did Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" set|strong="H5975" of the Levites|strong="H3881", and of the priests|strong="H3548", and of the chief|strong="H7218" of the fathers|strong="H0001" of Israel|strong="H3478", for the judgment|strong="H4941" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and for controversies|strong="H7379", when they returned|strong="H7725" to Jerusalem|strong="H3389".
8 Em Jerusalém Josafá colocou alguns levitas , sacerdotes e chefes de famílias para julgarem os assuntos religiosos e as causas dos moradores da cidade.
9 And he charged|strong="H6680" them, saying|strong="H0559", Thus shall ye do|strong="H6213" in the fear|strong="H3374" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, faithfully|strong="H0530", and with a perfect|strong="H8003" heart|strong="H3824".
9 Ele lhes deu a seguinte ordem: — Cumpram com honestidade todos os seus deveres para com Deus, o
10 And what cause|strong="H7379" soever shall come|strong="H0935" to you of your brethren|strong="H0251" that dwell|strong="H3427" in their cities|strong="H5892", between blood|strong="H1818" and blood|strong="H1818", between law|strong="H8451" and commandment|strong="H4687", statutes|strong="H2706" and judgments|strong="H4941", ye shall even warn|strong="H2094" them that they trespass|strong="H0816" not against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and so wrath|strong="H7110" come upon you, and upon your brethren|strong="H0251": this|strong="H3541" do|strong="H6213", and ye shall not trespass|strong="H0816".
10 Quando os seus patrícios das cidades de Judá apresentarem a vocês causas de morte ou qualquer caso de desobediência às leis , estatutos e regulamentos, avisem a eles que não cometam pecados contra o Senhor , a fim de que ele não castigue vocês e os seus patrícios. Se derem esse aviso, vocês não serão culpados.
11 And, behold, Amariah|strong="H0568" the chief|strong="H7218" priest|strong="H3548" is over you in all matters|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; and Zebadiah|strong="H2069" the son|strong="H1121" of Ishmael|strong="H3458", the ruler|strong="H5057" of the house|strong="H1004" of Judah|strong="H3063", for all the king’s|strong="H4428" matters|strong="H1697": also the Levites|strong="H3881" shall be officers|strong="H7860" before|strong="H6440" you. Deal|strong="H6213" courageously|strong="H2388", and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* shall be with the good|strong="H2896".
11 O Grande Sacerdote Amariá terá a última palavra nas questões religiosas, e o governador de Judá, Zebadias, filho de Ismael, terá a última palavra em casos não religiosos. Os levitas ajudarão nos serviços do tribunal. Coragem, pois, e mãos à obra! E que o Senhor Deus esteja com os que fazem o que é direito!
