Now Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" had riches|strong="H6239" and honour|strong="H3519" in abundance|strong="H7230", and joined affinity|strong="H2859" with Ahab|strong="H0256".
And after|strong="H7093" certain years|strong="H8141" he went down|strong="H3381" to Ahab|strong="H0256" to Samaria|strong="H8111". And Ahab|strong="H0256" killed|strong="H2076" sheep|strong="H6629" and oxen|strong="H1241" for him in abundance|strong="H7230", and for the people|strong="H5971" that he had with him, and persuaded|strong="H5496" him to go up|strong="H5927" with him to Ramoth-gilead|strong="H7433".
And Ahab|strong="H0256" king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" said|strong="H0559" unto Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", Wilt thou go|strong="H3212" with me to Ramoth-gilead|strong="H7433"? And he answered|strong="H0559" him, I am as thou art, and my people|strong="H5971" as thy people|strong="H5971"; and we will be with thee in the war|strong="H4421".
And Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" said|strong="H0559" unto the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478", Enquire|strong="H1875", I pray thee, at the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* to day|strong="H3117".
Therefore the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" gathered together|strong="H6908" of prophets|strong="H5030" four|strong="H0702" hundred|strong="H3967" men|strong="H0376", and said|strong="H0559" unto them, Shall we go|strong="H3212" to Ramoth-gilead|strong="H7433" to battle|strong="H4421", or shall I forbear|strong="H2308"? And they said|strong="H0559", Go up|strong="H5927"; for God|strong="H0430" will deliver|strong="H5414" it into the king’s|strong="H4428" hand|strong="H3027".
But Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" said|strong="H0559", Is there not here a prophet|strong="H5030" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* besides, that we might enquire|strong="H1875" of him?
And the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" said|strong="H0559" unto Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092", There is yet one|strong="H0259" man|strong="H0376", by whom we may enquire|strong="H1875" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: but I hate|strong="H8130" him; for he never prophesied|strong="H5012" good|strong="H2896" unto me, but always|strong="H3117" evil|strong="H7451": the same is Micaiah|strong="H4321" the son|strong="H1121" of Imla|strong="H3229". And Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" said|strong="H0559", Let not the king|strong="H4428" say|strong="H0559" so.
And the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" called|strong="H7121" for one|strong="H0259" of his officers|strong="H5631", and said|strong="H0559", Fetch quickly|strong="H4116" Micaiah|strong="H4319" the son|strong="H1121" of Imla|strong="H3229".
And the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" and Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" sat|strong="H3427" either|strong="H0376" of them on his throne|strong="H3678", clothed|strong="H3847" in their robes|strong="H0899", and they sat|strong="H3427" in a void place|strong="H1637" at the entering in|strong="H6607" of the gate|strong="H8179" of Samaria|strong="H8111"; and all the prophets|strong="H5030" prophesied|strong="H5012" before|strong="H6440" them.
And Zedekiah|strong="H6667" the son|strong="H1121" of Chenaanah|strong="H3668" had made|strong="H6213" him horns|strong="H7161" of iron|strong="H1270", and said|strong="H0559", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, With these thou shalt push|strong="H5055" Syria|strong="H0758" until they be consumed|strong="H3615".
And all the prophets|strong="H5030" prophesied|strong="H5012" so, saying|strong="H0559", Go up|strong="H5927" to Ramoth-gilead|strong="H7433", and prosper|strong="H6743": for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* shall deliver|strong="H5414" it into the hand|strong="H3027" of the king|strong="H4428".
And the messenger|strong="H4397" that went|strong="H1980" to call|strong="H7121" Micaiah|strong="H4321" spake|strong="H1696" to him, saying|strong="H0559", Behold, the words|strong="H1697" of the prophets|strong="H5030" declare good|strong="H2896" to the king|strong="H4428" with one|strong="H0259" assent|strong="H6310"; let thy word|strong="H1697" therefore, I pray thee, be like one|strong="H0259" of theirs, and speak|strong="H1696" thou good|strong="H2896".
And Micaiah|strong="H4321" said|strong="H0559", As the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* liveth|strong="H2416", even what my God|strong="H0430" saith|strong="H0559", that will I speak|strong="H1696".
And when he was come|strong="H0935" to the king|strong="H4428", the king|strong="H4428" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Micaiah|strong="H4318", shall we go|strong="H3212" to Ramoth-gilead|strong="H7433" to battle|strong="H4421", or shall I forbear|strong="H2308"? And he said|strong="H0559", Go ye up|strong="H5927", and prosper|strong="H6743", and they shall be delivered|strong="H5414" into your hand|strong="H3027".
And the king|strong="H4428" said|strong="H0559" to him, How many times|strong="H6471" shall I adjure|strong="H7650" thee that thou say|strong="H1696" nothing but the truth|strong="H0571" to me in the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*?
Then he said|strong="H0559", I did see|strong="H7200" all Israel|strong="H3478" scattered|strong="H6327" upon the mountains|strong="H2022", as sheep|strong="H6629" that have no shepherd|strong="H7462": and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559", These have no master|strong="H0113"; let them return|strong="H7725" therefore every man|strong="H0376" to his house|strong="H1004" in peace|strong="H7965".
And the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" said|strong="H0559" to Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092", Did I not tell|strong="H0559" thee that he would not prophesy|strong="H5012" good|strong="H2896" unto me, but evil|strong="H7451"?
Again he said|strong="H0559", Therefore hear|strong="H8085" the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; I saw|strong="H7200" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* sitting|strong="H3427" upon his throne|strong="H3678", and all the host|strong="H6635" of heaven|strong="H8064" standing|strong="H5975" on his right hand|strong="H3225" and on his left|strong="H8040".
And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559", Who shall entice|strong="H6601" Ahab|strong="H0256" king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478", that he may go up|strong="H5927" and fall|strong="H5307" at Ramoth-gilead|strong="H7433"? And one spake|strong="H0559" saying|strong="H0559" after this manner|strong="H3602", and another saying|strong="H0559" after that manner|strong="H3602".
Then there came out|strong="H3318" a spirit|strong="H7307", and stood|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and said|strong="H0559", I will entice|strong="H6601" him. And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto him, Wherewith?
And he said|strong="H0559", I will go out|strong="H3318", and be a lying|strong="H8267" spirit|strong="H7307" in the mouth|strong="H6310" of all his prophets|strong="H5030". And the \+nd Lord\+nd* said|strong="H0559", Thou shalt entice|strong="H6601" him, and thou shalt also prevail|strong="H3201": go out|strong="H3318", and do|strong="H6213" even so.
Now therefore, behold, the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath put|strong="H5414" a lying|strong="H8267" spirit|strong="H7307" in the mouth|strong="H6310" of these thy prophets|strong="H5030", and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath spoken|strong="H1696" evil|strong="H7451" against thee.
Then Zedekiah|strong="H6667" the son|strong="H1121" of Chenaanah|strong="H3668" came near|strong="H5066", and smote|strong="H5221" Micaiah|strong="H4321" upon the cheek|strong="H3895", and said|strong="H0559", Which|strong="H0335" way|strong="H1870" went|strong="H5674" the Spirit|strong="H7307" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* from me to speak|strong="H1696" unto thee?
And Micaiah|strong="H4321" said|strong="H0559", Behold, thou shalt see|strong="H7200" on that day|strong="H3117" when thou shalt go|strong="H0935" into an inner|strong="H2315" chamber|strong="H2315" to hide|strong="H2244" thyself.
Then the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" said|strong="H0559", Take|strong="H3947" ye Micaiah|strong="H4321", and carry him back|strong="H7725" to Amon|strong="H0526" the governor|strong="H8269" of the city|strong="H5892", and to Joash|strong="H3101" the king’s|strong="H4428" son|strong="H1121";
And say|strong="H0559", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the king|strong="H4428", Put|strong="H7760" this fellow in the prison|strong="H1004", and feed|strong="H0398" him with bread|strong="H3899" of affliction|strong="H3906" and with water|strong="H4325" of affliction|strong="H3906", until I return|strong="H7725" in peace|strong="H7965".
And Micaiah|strong="H4321" said|strong="H0559", If thou certainly|strong="H7725" return|strong="H7725" in peace|strong="H7965", then hath not the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* spoken|strong="H1696" by me. And he said|strong="H0559", Hearken|strong="H8085", all ye people|strong="H5971".
So the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" and Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" the king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" went up|strong="H5927" to Ramoth-gilead|strong="H7433".
And the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" said|strong="H0559" unto Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092", I will disguise|strong="H2664" myself, and will go|strong="H0935" to the battle|strong="H4421"; but put|strong="H3847" thou on thy robes|strong="H0899". So the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" disguised|strong="H2664" himself; and they went|strong="H0935" to the battle|strong="H4421".
Now the king|strong="H4428" of Syria|strong="H0758" had commanded|strong="H6680" the captains|strong="H8269" of the chariots|strong="H7393" that were with him, saying|strong="H0559", Fight|strong="H3898" ye not with small|strong="H6996" or great|strong="H1419", save only with the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478".
And it came to pass, when the captains|strong="H8269" of the chariots|strong="H7393" saw|strong="H7200" Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092", that they said|strong="H0559", It is the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478". Therefore they compassed about|strong="H5437" him to fight|strong="H3898": but Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" cried out|strong="H2199", and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* helped|strong="H5826" him; and God|strong="H0430" moved|strong="H5496" them to depart from him.
For it came to pass, that, when the captains|strong="H8269" of the chariots|strong="H7393" perceived|strong="H7200" that it was not the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478", they turned back again|strong="H7725" from pursuing|strong="H0310" him.
And a certain man drew|strong="H4900" a bow|strong="H7198" at a venture|strong="H8537", and smote|strong="H5221" the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" between the joints|strong="H1694" of the harness|strong="H8302": therefore he said|strong="H0559" to his chariot|strong="H7395" man|strong="H0376", Turn|strong="H2015" thine hand|strong="H3027", that thou mayest carry me out|strong="H3318" of the host|strong="H4264"; for I am wounded|strong="H2470".
And the battle|strong="H4421" increased|strong="H5927" that day|strong="H3117": howbeit the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" stayed himself up|strong="H5975" in his chariot|strong="H4818" against|strong="H5227" the Syrians|strong="H0758" until the even|strong="H6153": and about the time|strong="H6256" of the sun|strong="H8121" going down|strong="H0935" he died|strong="H4191".
