1 Then Agrippa said to Paul, "It is permitted for you to speak for yourself."So Paul, having extended his hand, spoke in his own defense:
1 Agripa disse a Paulo: — Você pode apresentar a sua defesa. Então Paulo estendeu a mão e fez a sua defesa, dizendo o seguinte:
2 I have considered myself fortunate, King Agrippa, being able to speak in my own defense today, concerning all the things of which I am accused of by the Jews,
2 — Rei Agripa, eu me sinto muito feliz em poder estar hoje diante do senhor para me defender de tudo o que os judeus me acusam.
3 especially since you are well versed both in all the customs and questions in relation to the Jews; therefore I beg you to hear me patiently.
3 E especialmente feliz porque o senhor conhece muito bem todos os costumes e questões dos judeus. Portanto, peço que o senhor me escute com paciência.
4 Therefore my way of life from my youth, which from the beginning was spent among my own nation in Jerusalem, all the Jews know,
4 — Todos os judeus sabem como tenho vivido no meio do meu povo e também em Jerusalém, desde a minha juventude até hoje.
5 since they have known me for a long time, if they are willing to testify, that according to the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.
5 Eles sempre souberam — e podem confirmar isso se quiserem — que desde o começo fui membro do partido dos fariseus , o mais rigoroso da nossa religião.
6 And now for the hope of the promise having been made by God to the fathers, I stand before you judged,
6 E agora estou aqui sendo julgado porque tenho esperança na promessa que Deus fez aos nossos antepassados.
7 [a promise] to which our twelve tribes, as they earnestly serve God night and day, hope to attain. Concerning which hope I am accused by [the] Jews, King Agrippa.
7 Todas as tribos do nosso povo, que adoram a Deus dia e noite, também esperam ver o cumprimento dessa promessa. É por causa dessa esperança, ó rei, que estou sendo acusado pelos judeus.
8 Why is it considered [such ]an unbelievable thing by you [people ]if God raises the dead?
8 Por que é que vocês, judeus, acham impossível crer que Deus ressuscita os mortos?
9 Therefore I thought in myself that it was necessary to do many hostile things against the name of Jesus the Nazarene;
9 E Paulo disse ainda: — Eu mesmo pensava que devia fazer tudo o que pudesse contra a causa de Jesus de Nazaré.
10 which also I did in Jerusalem, and many of the saints I shut up in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were being put to death, I cast my vote against them.
10 E foi o que fiz em Jerusalém. Recebi autorização dos chefes dos sacerdotes e prendi muitos seguidores de Jesus. Quando eram condenados à morte, eu também votava contra eles.
11 And I punished them often in all the synagogues, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even as far as to foreign cities.
11 Durante muito tempo eu os castiguei em todas as sinagogas e os forcei a negar a sua fé. Tinha tanto ódio deles, que até fui a outras cidades para persegui-los.
12 "In which [pursuits] also, as I traveled to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,
12 E Paulo continuou: — Foi por isso que viajei para a cidade de Damasco, levando autorização e ordens dos chefes dos sacerdotes.
13 at midday, O king, along the road I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those traveling with me.
13 Mas aconteceu, ó rei, que na estrada, ao meio-dia, veio do céu uma luz mais brilhante do que o sol, a qual brilhou em volta de mim e dos homens que estavam viajando comigo.
14 And when we all had fallen down to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.'
14 Todos nós caímos no chão, e eu ouvi uma voz me dizer em hebraico : “Saulo, Saulo! Por que você me persegue? Não adianta você se revoltar contra mim.”
15 "So I said, 'Who are You, Lord?' And He said, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
15 — Então eu perguntei: “Quem é o senhor?” — E o Senhor respondeu:
16 But arise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you, to appoint you a minister and a witness both [of the things] which you have seen, and [of the things] which I will yet reveal to you,
16 Mas levante-se e fique de pé. Eu apareci a você para o escolher como meu
17 delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,
17 Vou livrar você dos judeus e também dos não judeus, a quem vou enviá-lo.
18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of Satan to God, [in order for ]them to receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'
18 Você vai abrir os olhos deles a fim de que eles saiam da escuridão para a luz e do poder de Satanás para Deus. Então, por meio da fé em mim, eles serão perdoados dos seus pecados e passarão a ser parte do povo escolhido de Deus.”
19 "Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,
19 E Paulo terminou, dizendo: — Portanto, ó rei Agripa, eu não desobedeci à visão que veio do céu.
20 but to those first in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and to the Gentiles, proclaiming that they must repent and turn to God, and do works worthy of repentance.
20 Anunciei a mensagem primeiro em Damasco e depois em Jerusalém, em toda a região da Judeia e entre os não judeus. Eu dizia a todos que eles precisavam abandonar os seus pecados, voltar para Deus e fazer coisas que mostrassem que estavam, de fato, arrependidos.
21 Because of these things the Jews arrested me in the temple and attempted to kill me.
21 Foi por isso que alguns judeus me agarraram quando eu estava no pátio do Templo e quiseram me matar.
22 Therefore, having obtained help from God, until this day I stand, witnessing both to common [people] and great [people], saying nothing except the things which both the prophets and Moses spoke of as being about to happen,
22 Mas até hoje Deus tem me ajudado, e por isso estou aqui trazendo a sua mensagem a todos, tanto aos humildes como aos importantes. Pois eu digo a mesma coisa que os profetas e Moisés disseram que ia acontecer.
23 that the Christ was to suffer, that as the first to rise from the dead, He was about to proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles."
23 Eles afirmaram que o Messias precisava sofrer e ser o primeiro a ressuscitar, para anunciar a luz da salvação tanto aos judeus como aos não judeus.
24 Now as he spoke these things, Festus said with a loud voice, "You are mad, Paul! Your higher learning is driving you to madness!"
24 Quando Paulo estava se defendendo assim, Festo gritou: — Paulo, você está louco! Estudou tanto, que acabou perdendo o juízo!
25 But he said, "I am not mad, most excellent Festus, but I boldly declare words of truth and reason.
25 Paulo respondeu: — Eu não estou louco, Excelência; estou em perfeito juízo e digo a verdade.
26 For the king knows about these things, to whom also I speak freely; for I am persuaded that none of these things escapes his notice, since this thing was not done in a corner.
26 Eu posso falar diante do rei Agripa com toda a coragem porque tenho a certeza de que ele conhece todas essas coisas muito bem, pois não aconteceram em nenhum lugar escondido.
27 "Do you believe the prophets, King Agrippa? I know that you believe."
27 Então Paulo disse ao rei: — Rei Agripa, o senhor crê nos profetas? Eu sei que crê!
28 And Agrippa said to Paul, "In a short time, you are persuading me to become a Christian!"
28 Agripa respondeu: — Você pensa que assim, em tão pouco tempo, vai me tornar cristão?
29 And Paul said, "I would pray to God, both in a short time and a long time, not only you, but also all who are hearing me today, would become such as I am, except for these chains."
29 Paulo disse: — Pois eu pediria a Deus que, em pouco ou muito tempo, não somente o senhor, mas todos os que estão me ouvindo hoje chegassem a ser como eu, mas sem estas correntes.
30 When he had said these things, the king stood up, as well as the governor and Bernice and those sitting together with them;
30 Aí o rei Agripa, o Governador, Berenice e todos os que estavam com eles se levantaram
31 and when they withdrew, they were speaking among themselves, saying, "This man practices nothing worthy of death or chains."
31 e saíram, comentando: — Este homem não fez nada para merecer a morte, nem para estar preso.
32 Then Agrippa said to Festus, "This man could have been released if he had not appealed to Caesar."
32 Então Agripa disse a Festo: — Ele já podia estar solto se não tivesse pedido para ser julgado pelo Imperador.
