1 And it came to pass on one of the days, as he was teaching the people in the temple, and announcing the glad tidings, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders came up,
1 Certo dia, quando Jesus estava ensinando o povo no templo e pregando as boas novas, chegaram-se a ele os chefes dos sacerdotes, juntamente com os mestres da lei e os líderes religiosos,
2 and spoke to him saying, Tell us by what authority thou doest these things, or who is it who has given thee this authority?
2 e lhe perguntaram: "Com que autoridade estás fazendo estas coisas? Quem te deu esta autoridade? "
3 And he answering said to them, *I* also will ask you {one} thing, and tell me:
3 Ele respondeu: "Eu também lhes farei uma pergunta: Digam-me:
4 The baptism of John, was it of heaven or of men?
4 O batismo de João era do céu, ou dos homens? "
5 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we should say, Of heaven, he will say, Why have ye not believed him?
5 Eles discutiam entre si, dizendo: "Se dissermos: ‘do céu’, ele perguntará: ‘Então por que vocês não creram nele? ’
6 but if we should say, Of men, the whole people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.
6 Mas se dissermos: ‘dos homens’, todo o povo nos apedrejará, porque convencidos estão de que João era um profeta".
7 And they answered, they did not know whence.
7 Assim, responderam: "Não sabemos de onde era".
8 And Jesus said to them, Neither do *I* tell you by what authority I do these things.
8 Disse então Jesus: "Tampouco lhes direi com que autoridade estou fazendo estas coisas".
9 And he began to speak to the people this parable: A man planted a vineyard and let it out to husbandmen, and left the country for a long time.
9 Então Jesus passou a contar ao povo esta parábola: "Certo homem plantou uma vinha, arrendou-a a alguns lavradores e ausentou-se por longo tempo.
10 And in the season he sent to the husbandmen a bondman, that they might give to him of the fruit of the vineyard; but the husbandmen, having beaten him, sent {him} away empty.
10 Na época da colheita, ele enviou um servo aos lavradores, para que lhe entregassem parte do fruto da vinha. Mas os lavradores o espancaram e o mandaram embora de mãos vazias.
11 And again he sent another bondman; but they, having beaten him also, and cast insult upon him, sent {him} away empty.
11 Ele mandou outro servo, mas a esse também espancaram e o trataram de maneira humilhante, mandando-o embora de mãos vazias.
12 And again he sent a third; and they, having wounded him also, cast {him} out.
12 Enviou ainda um terceiro, e eles o feriram e o expulsaram da vinha.
13 And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: perhaps when they see him they will respect {him}.
13 "Então o proprietário da vinha disse: ‘Que farei? Mandarei meu filho amado; quem sabe o respeitarão’.
14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; {come,} let us kill him, that the inheritance may become ours.
14 "Mas quando os lavradores o viram, combinaram entre si dizendo: ‘Este é o herdeiro. Vamos matá-lo, e a herança será nossa’.
15 And having cast him forth out of the vineyard, they killed {him}. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do to them?
15 Assim, lançaram-no fora da vinha e o mataram. "O que lhes fará então o dono da vinha?
16 He will come and destroy those husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it they said, May it never be!
16 Virá, matará aqueles lavradores e dará a vinha a outros". Quando o povo ouviu isso, disse: "Que isso nunca aconteça! "
17 But he looking at them said, What then is this that is written, The stone which they that builded rejected, this has become the corner-stone?
17 Jesus olhou fixamente para eles e perguntou: "Então, qual é o significado do que está escrito? ‘A pedra que os construtores rejeitaram tornou-se a pedra angular’.
18 Every one falling on this stone shall be broken, but on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall grind him to powder.
18 Todo o que cair sobre esta pedra será despedaçado, e aquele sobre quem ela cair será reduzido a pó".
19 And the chief priests and the scribes sought the same hour to lay hands on him, and they feared the people; for they knew that he had spoken this parable of them.
19 Os mestres da lei e os chefes dos sacerdotes procuravam uma forma de prendê-lo imediatamente, pois perceberam que era contra eles que ele havia contado essa parábola. Todavia tinham medo do povo.
20 And having watched {him}, they sent out suborned persons, pretending to be just men, that they might take hold of him in {his} language, so that they might deliver him up to the power and authority of the governor.
20 Pondo-se a vigiá-lo, eles mandaram espiões, que se fingiam justos, para apanhar Jesus em alguma coisa que ele dissesse, de forma que o pudessem entregar ao poder e à autoridade do governador.
21 And they asked him saying, Teacher, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, and acceptest no {man's} person, but teachest with truth the way of God:
21 Assim, os espiões lhe perguntaram: "Mestre, sabemos que falas e ensinas o que é correto, e que não mostras parcialidade, mas ensinas o caminho de Deus conforme a verdade.
22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
22 É certo pagar imposto a César ou não? "
23 But perceiving their deceit he said to them, Why do ye tempt me?
23 Ele percebeu a astúcia deles e lhes disse:
24 Shew me a denarius. Whose image and superscription has it? And answering they said, Caesar's.
24 "Mostrem-me um denário. De quem é a imagem e a inscrição que há nele? "
25 And he said to them, Pay therefore what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God.
25 "De César", responderam eles. Ele lhes disse: "Portanto, dêem a César o que é de César, e a Deus o que é de Deus".
26 And they were not able to take hold of him in {his} expressions before the people, and, wondering at his answer, they were silent.
26 E não conseguiram apanhá-lo em nenhuma palavra diante do povo. E, admirados com a sua resposta, ficaram em silêncio.
27 And some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is any resurrection, coming up {to him},
27 Alguns dos saduceus, que dizem que não há ressurreição, aproximaram-se de Jesus com a seguinte questão:
28 demanded of him saying, Teacher, Moses wrote to us, If any one's brother, who has a wife, die, and he die childless, his brother shall take the wife and raise up seed to his brother.
28 "Mestre", disseram eles, "Moisés nos deixou escrito que, se o irmão de um homem morrer e deixar mulher sem filhos, este deverá casar-se com a viúva e ter filhos para seu irmão.
29 There were then seven brethren: and the first, having taken a wife, died childless;
29 Havia sete irmãos. O primeiro casou-se e morreu sem deixar filhos.
30 and the second {took the woman, and *he* died childless};
30 O segundo
31 and the third took her: and in like manner also the seven left no children and died;
31 e o terceiro e depois também os outros casaram-se com ela; e morreram os sete sucessivamente, sem deixar filhos.
32 and last of all the woman also died.
32 Finalmente morreu também a mulher.
33 In the resurrection therefore of which of them does she become wife, for the seven had her as wife?
33 Na ressurreição, de quem ela será esposa, visto que os sete foram casados com ela? "
34 And Jesus said to them, The sons of this world marry and are given in marriage,
34 Jesus respondeu: "Os filhos desta era casam-se e são dados em casamento,
35 but they who are counted worthy to have part in that world, and the resurrection from among {the} dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage;
35 mas os que forem considerados dignos de tomar parte na era que há de vir e na ressurreição dos mortos não se casarão nem serão dados em casamento,
36 for neither can they die any more, for they are equal to angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.
36 e não podem mais morrer, pois são como os anjos. São filhos de Deus, visto que são filhos da ressurreição.
37 But that the dead rise, even Moses shewed in {the section of} the bush, when he called {the} Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob;
37 E que os mortos ressuscitam, já Moisés mostrou, no relato da sarça, quando ao Senhor ele chama ‘Deus de Abraão, Deus de Isaque e Deus de Jacó’.
38 but he is not God of {the} dead but of {the} living; for all live for him.
38 Ele não é Deus de mortos, mas de vivos, pois para ele todos vivem".
39 And some of the scribes answering said, Teacher, thou hast well spoken.
39 Alguns dos mestres da lei disseram: "Respondeste bem, Mestre! "
40 For they did not dare any more to ask him anything.
40 E ninguém mais ousava fazer-lhe perguntas.
41 And he said to them, How do they say that the Christ is David's son,
41 Então Jesus lhes perguntou: "Como dizem que o Cristo é Filho de Davi?
42 and David himself says in the book of Psalms, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand
42 "O próprio Davi afirma no Livro dos Salmos: ‘O Senhor disse ao meu Senhor: "Senta-te à minha direita
43 until I put thine enemies {as} footstool of thy feet?
43 até que eu ponha os teus inimigos como estrado para os teus pés" ’.
44 David therefore calls him Lord, and how is he his son?
44 Portanto Davi o chama ‘Senhor’. Então, como é que ele pode ser seu filho? "
45 And, as all the people were listening, he said to his disciples,
45 Estando todo o povo a ouvi-lo, Jesus disse aos seus discípulos:
46 Beware of the scribes, who like to walk about in long robes, and who love salutations in the market-places, and first seats in the synagogues, and first places at suppers;
46 "Cuidado com os mestres da lei. Eles fazem questão de andar com roupas especiais, e gostam muito de receber saudações nas praças e de ocupar os lugares mais importantes nas sinagogas e os lugares de honra nos banquetes.
47 who devour the houses of widows, and as a pretext make long prayers. These shall receive a severer judgment.
47 Eles devoram as casas das viúvas, e, para disfarçar, fazem longas orações. Esses homens serão punidos com maior rigor! "
