1 Thus Jehovah said to me, Go and buy for yourself a linen waistband, and put it around your waist, and do not put it in water.
1 Assim me disse o SENHOR: Vai, e compra um cinto de linho e põe-no sobre os teus lombos, mas não o coloques na água.
2 So I bought a waistband according to the Word of Jehovah, and put it around my waist.
2 E comprei o cinto, conforme a palavra do Senhor, e o pus sobre os meus lombos.
3 And the Word of Jehovah came unto me a second time, saying,
3 Então me veio a palavra do Senhor pela segunda vez, dizendo:
4 Take the waistband that you bought, which is around your waist, and arise. Go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.
4 Toma o cinto que compraste, e que trazes sobre os teus lombos, e levanta-te; vai ao Eufrates, e esconde-o ali na fenda de uma rocha.
5 So I went and hid it by Euphrates, as Jehovah commanded me.
5 E fui, e escondi-o junto ao Eufrates, como o Senhor me havia ordenado.
6 And it came to pass at the end of many days that Jehovah said to me, Arise, go to the Euphrates and take the waistband from there, which I commanded you to hide there.
6 Sucedeu, ao final de muitos dias, que me disse o Senhor: Levanta-te, vai ao Eufrates, e toma dali o cinto que te ordenei que o escondesses ali.
7 Then I went to the Euphrates and dug, and took the waistband from the place where I had hidden it. And, behold, the waistband was rotten; it was good for nothing.
7 E fui ao Eufrates, e cavei, e tomei o cinto do lugar onde o havia escondido; e eis que o cinto tinha apodrecido, e para nada prestava.
8 Then the Word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
8 Então veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:
9 Thus says Jehovah, In this way I will spoil the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.
9 Assim diz o Senhor: Do mesmo modo farei apodrecer a soberba de Judá, e a muita soberba de Jerusalém.
10 This evil people, who refuse to hear My Words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart and walk after other gods to serve them and to bow down to them, shall even be like this waistband, which is good for nothing.
10 Este povo maligno, que recusa ouvir as minhas palavras, que caminha segundo a dureza do seu coração, e anda após deuses alheios, para servi-los, e inclinar-se diante deles, será tal como este cinto, que para nada presta.
11 For as the waistband clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to Me, says Jehovah; so that they might be a people unto Me, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory; but they would not hear.
11 Porque, como o cinto está pegado aos lombos do homem, assim eu liguei a mim toda a casa de Israel, e toda a casa de Judá, diz o Senhor, para me serem por povo, e por nome, e por louvor, e por glória; mas não deram ouvidos.
12 So you shall speak to them this Word: Thus says Jehovah the God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine. And they shall say to you, Do we not perceive to know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?
12 Portanto, dize-lhes esta palavra: Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: Todo o odre se encherá de vinho; e dir-te-ão: Porventura não sabemos nós muito bem que todo o odre se encherá de vinho?
13 Then you shall say to them, Thus says Jehovah, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit on Davids throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
13 Mas tu dize-lhes: Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que eu encherei de embriaguez a todos os habitantes desta terra, e aos reis da estirpe de Davi, que estão assentados sobre o seu trono, e aos sacerdotes, e aos profetas, e a todos os habitantes de Jerusalém.
14 And I will smash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, says Jehovah. I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but will destroy them.
14 E fá-los-ei em pedaços atirando uns contra os outros, e juntamente os pais com os filhos, diz o Senhor; não perdoarei, nem pouparei, nem terei deles compaixão, para que não os destrua.
15 Hear and give ear; do not be proud; for Jehovah has spoken.
15 Escutai, e inclinai os ouvidos; não vos ensoberbeçais; porque o Senhor falou:
16 Give glory to Jehovah your God, before He causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and, while you are looking for light, He turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it gross darkness.
16 Dai glória ao Senhor vosso Deus, antes que venha a escuridão e antes que tropecem vossos pés nos montes tenebrosos; antes que, esperando vós luz, ele a mude em sombra de morte, e a reduza à escuridão.
17 But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and my eye shall weep and cry and run down with tears, because Jehovahs flock is taken captive.
17 E, se isto não ouvirdes, a minha alma chorará em lugares ocultos, por causa da vossa soberba; e amargamente chorarão os meus olhos, e se desfarão em lágrimas, porquanto o rebanho do Senhor foi levado cativo.
18 Say to the king and to the queen mother, Humble yourselves; sit down, for your dominion has come down, even the crown of your glory.
18 Dize ao rei e à rainha: Humilhai-vos, e assentai-vos no chão; porque já caiu todo o ornato de vossas cabeças, a coroa da vossa glória.
19 The cities of the south have been shut up, and no one is opening; Judah has been exiled, all of it has been completely carried away captive.
19 As cidades do sul estão fechadas, e ninguém há que as abra; todo o Judá foi levado cativo, sim, inteiramente cativo.
20 Lift up your eyes and look at those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given to you, your beautiful sheep?
20 Levantai os vossos olhos, e vede os que vêm do norte; onde está o rebanho que se te deu, o rebanho da tua glória?
21 What will you say when he punishes you? For you have taught them to be chief rulers over you. Do not pangs seize you, like a woman in travail?
21 Que dirás, quando ele te castigar porque os ensinaste a serem capitães, e chefe sobre ti? Porventura não te tomarão as dores, como à mulher que está de parto?
22 And if you say in your heart, Why have these things come upon me? It is because of the greatness of your iniquity; your skirts have been uncovered, and your heels have suffered violence.
22 Quando, pois, disseres no teu coração: Por que me sobrevieram estas coisas? Pela multidão das tuas maldades se descobriram as tuas fraldas, e os teus calcanhares sofrem violência.
23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard its spots? Then you also may do good, who are accustomed to doing evil.
23 Porventura pode o etíope mudar a sua pele, ou o leopardo as suas manchas? Então podereis vós fazer o bem, sendo ensinados a fazer o mal.
24 Therefore I will scatter them as the stubble that passes away by the wind of the wilderness.
24 Assim os espalharei como o restolho, que passa com o vento do deserto.
25 This is your lot, the portion I have measured to you, says Jehovah, because you have forgotten Me and trusted in falsehood.
25 Esta será a tua sorte, a porção que te será medida por mim, diz o Senhor; pois te esqueceste de mim, e confiaste em mentiras.
26 Therefore I also have drawn up your skirts over your face, that your shame may be seen.
26 Assim também eu levantarei as tuas fraldas sobre o teu rosto; e aparecerá a tua ignomínia.
27 I have seen your adulteries, and your neighings, the lewdness of your harlotry, and your abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! Will you not be made clean? How long will it still be?
27 Já vi as tuas abominações, e os teus adultérios, e os teus rinchos, e a enormidade da tua prostituição sobre os outeiros no campo; ai de ti, Jerusalém! Até quando ainda não te purificarás?
