1 And Jehovah sent Nathan to David. And he came to him, and said to him: There were two men in one city, one rich and the other poor.
1 E o SENHOR enviou Natã a Davi; e, apresentando-se ele a Davi, disse-lhe: Havia numa cidade dois homens, um rico e outro pobre.
2 The rich man had exceedingly many flocks and herds.
2 O rico possuía muitíssimas ovelhas e vacas.
3 But the poor man had nothing, except one little ewe lamb which he had bought and nourished; and it grew up together with him and with his children. It ate of his own food and drank from his own cup and lay in his bosom; and it was like a daughter to him.
3 Mas o pobre não tinha coisa nenhuma, senão uma pequena cordeira que comprara e criara; e ela tinha crescido com ele e com seus filhos; do seu bocado comia, e do seu copo bebia, e dormia em seu regaço, e a tinha como filha.
4 And a traveler came to the rich man, who spared to take from his own flock and from his own herd to prepare one for the wayfaring man who had come to him; but he took the poor mans lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.
4 E, vindo um viajante ao homem rico, deixou este de tomar das suas ovelhas e das suas vacas para assar para o viajante que viera a ele; e tomou a cordeira do homem pobre, e a preparou para o homem que viera a ele.
5 And Davids anger burned greatly against the man, and he said to Nathan, As Jehovah lives, the man who has done this is a son of death!
5 Então o furor de Davi se acendeu em grande maneira contra aquele homem, e disse a Natã: Vive o Senhor, que digno de morte é o homem que fez isso.
6 And he shall restore fourfold for the lamb, because he has done this thing and because he had no pity.
6 E pela cordeira tornará a dar o quadruplicado, porque fez tal coisa, e porque não se compadeceu.
7 And Nathan said to David, You are the man! Thus says Jehovah the God of Israel: I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul.
7 Então disse Natã a Davi: Tu és este homem. Assim diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: Eu te ungi rei sobre Israel, e eu te livrei das mãos de Saul;
8 I gave you your masters house and your masters wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if that had been too little, I also would have given you this and that!
8 E te dei a casa de teu senhor, e as mulheres de teu senhor em teu seio, e também te dei a casa de Israel e de Judá, e, se isto é pouco, mais te acrescentaria tais e tais coisas.
9 Why have you despised the Word of Jehovah, to do evil in His eyes? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword; you have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the sons of Ammon.
9 Por que, pois, desprezaste a palavra do Senhor, fazendo o mal diante de seus olhos? A Urias, o heteu, feriste à espada, e a sua mulher tomaste por tua mulher; e a ele mataste com a espada dos filhos de Amom.
10 Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.
10 Agora, pois, não se apartará a espada jamais da tua casa, porquanto me desprezaste, e tomaste a mulher de Urias, o heteu, para ser tua mulher.
11 Thus says Jehovah: Behold, I will raise up evil against you from your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the eyes of the sun.
11 Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que suscitarei da tua própria casa o mal sobre ti, e tomarei tuas mulheres perante os teus olhos, e as darei a teu próximo, o qual se deitará com tuas mulheres perante este sol.
12 For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.
12 Porque tu o fizeste em oculto, mas eu farei este negócio perante todo o Israel e perante o sol.
13 And David said to Nathan, I have sinned against Jehovah. And Nathan said to David, Jehovah also has put away your sin; you shall not die.
13 Então disse Davi a Natã: Pequei contra o Senhor. E disse Natã a Davi: Também o Senhor perdoou o teu pecado; não morrerás.
14 However, because of this matter in which you have caused contempt, for Jehovah to be spurned by His enemies, the child also who is born to you shall die the death.
14 Todavia, porquanto com este feito deste lugar sobremaneira a que os inimigos do Senhor blasfemem, também o filho que te nasceu certamente morrerá.
15 And Nathan departed to his house. And Jehovah struck the child that Uriahs wife had borne to David, and it became sick.
15 Então Natã foi para sua casa; e o Senhor feriu a criança que a mulher de Urias dera a Davi, e adoeceu gravemente.
16 David therefore besought God for the child, and David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground.
16 E buscou Davi a Deus pela criança; e jejuou Davi, e entrou, e passou a noite prostrado sobre a terra.
17 And the elders of his house arose and went to him, to raise him up from the ground. But he would not, nor did he eat food with them.
17 Então os anciãos da sua casa se levantaram e foram a ele, para o levantar da terra; porém ele não quis, e não comeu pão com eles.
18 And on the seventh day it came to pass that the child died. And the servants of David were afraid to tell him that the child had died. For they said, Behold, while the child was alive, we spoke to him, and he would not heed our voice. How can we tell him that the child has died? He may do some harm!
18 E sucedeu que ao sétimo dia morreu a criança; e temiam os servos de Davi dizer-lhe que a criança estava morta, porque diziam: Eis que, sendo a criança ainda viva, lhe falávamos, porém não dava ouvidos à nossa voz; como, pois, lhe diremos que a criança está morta? Porque mais lhe afligiria.
19 But when David saw that his servants were whispering, David perceived that the child had died. Therefore David said to his servants, Has the child died? And they said, He has died.
19 Viu, porém, Davi que seus servos falavam baixo, e entendeu Davi que a criança estava morta, pelo que disse Davi a seus servos: Está morta a criança? E eles disseram: Está morta.
20 So David rose up from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of Jehovah and prostrated himself. Then he went to his own house; and when he requested, they set food before him, and he ate.
20 Então Davi se levantou da terra, e se lavou, e se ungiu, e mudou de roupas, e entrou na casa do Senhor, e adorou. Então foi à sua casa, e pediu pão; e lhe puseram pão, e comeu.
21 Then his servants said to him, What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child had died, you arose and ate food.
21 E disseram-lhe seus servos: Que é isto que fizeste? Pela criança viva jejuaste e choraste; porém depois que morreu a criança te levantaste e comeste pão.
22 And he said, While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I thought, Who knows whether Jehovah will be gracious to me, that the child may live?
22 E disse ele: Vivendo ainda a criança, jejuei e chorei, porque dizia: Quem sabe se DEUS se compadecerá de mim, e viverá a criança?
23 But now he has died; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
23 Porém, agora que está morta, por que jejuaria eu? Poderei eu fazê-la voltar? Eu irei a ela, porém ela não voltará para mim.
24 And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in to her and lay with her. And she bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. Now Jehovah loved him,
24 Então consolou Davi a Bate-Seba, sua mulher, e entrou a ela, e se deitou com ela, e ela deu à luz um filho, e deu-lhe o nome de Salomão; e o Senhor o amou.
25 and He sent word by the hand of Nathan the prophet: So he called his name Jedidiah, because of Jehovah.
25 E enviou pela mão do profeta Natã, dando-lhe o nome de Jedidias, por amor ao Senhor.
26 Now Joab fought against Rabbah of the sons of Ammon, and captured the royal city.
26 Ora pelejou Joabe contra Rabá, dos filhos de Amom, e tomou a cidade real.
27 And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbah, and I have captured the city of waters.
27 Então mandou Joabe mensageiros a Davi, e disse: Pelejei contra Rabá, e também tomei a cidade das águas.
28 Now therefore, gather the rest of the people together and lay siege against the city and take it, lest I capture the city and it be called after my name.
28 Ajunta, pois, agora o restante do povo, e cerca a cidade, e toma-a, para que tomando eu a cidade, não se aclame sobre ela o meu nome.
29 So David gathered all the people together and went to Rabbah, fought against it, and captured it.
29 Então ajuntou Davi a todo o povo, e marchou para Rabá, e pelejou contra ela, e a tomou.
30 And he took their kings crown from his head. Its weight was a talent of gold, with precious stones. And it was set on Davids head. Also he brought out the spoils of the city in great abundance.
30 E tirou a coroa da cabeça do seu rei, cujo peso era de um talento de ouro, e havia nela pedras preciosas, e foi posta sobre a cabeça de Davi; e da cidade levou mui grande despojo.
31 And he brought out the people who were in it, and put them under saws, iron picks and iron axes, and made them cross over into the brick kiln. Thus he did to all the cities of the people of Ammon. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
31 E, trazendo o povo que havia nela, o pôs às serras, e às talhadeiras de ferro, e aos machados de ferro, e os fez passar por forno de tijolos; e assim fez a todas as cidades dos filhos de Amom; e voltou Davi e todo o povo para Jerusalém.
