1 Kʋntʋ ŋwaanɩ á ja á tɩtɩ dɩ pu-sɩŋa dwi maama dɩ sɩsɩɩna, sɩ á yɩ taá yɩ pipiri-nyɩna, naa á taá jɩgɩ wʋ-gʋʋ, naa á taá yɩ bɩbarɩ-nyɩna.
1 Deponde, pois, toda malícia, toda astúcia, fingimentos, invejas e toda espécie de maledicência.
2 Pa-na á fra taa zʋʋrɩ Wɛ kwǝrǝ kam yɩranɩ, nɩ bu-sɩsɩŋa fra na zʋʋrɩ o nu yɩlɩ te tɩn. Kʋntʋ mʋ wʋ́ pa á wʋbʋŋa bɩ dɩ Wɛ cɩga kam, sɩ á na vrɩm fasɩ.
2 as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,
3 Kʋ pʋpʋnɩ Wɛ tɔnɔ kʋm wʋnɩ kʋ wɩ: «Abam maŋɩ á maanɩ dɩ́ Yuutu wʋm na tiini o yɩ lanyɩranɩ te tɩn.»
3 if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.
4 Nan twɛ-na dɩ́ Yuutu Zezi, sɩ wʋm mʋ yɩ ŋwɩa tu, yɩ o nyɩ dɩ kandwɛ dɩlʋ nabiinǝ na vɩn tɩn. Wɛ nan maŋɩ DƖ kuri wʋntʋ mʋ, yɩ o jɩgɩ kuri dɩ DƖ kʋ ja gaalɩ.
4 — ausente —
5 Abam dɩ na jɩgɩ Wɛ ŋwɩ-dʋŋa kam tɩn, yagɩ-na sɩ Wɛ kwe abam nɩnɛɛnɩ kandwa yalʋ DƖ na wʋra DƖ maa lɔ DƖ digǝ kalʋ DƖ Joro kʋm na wʋ́ ta zʋʋrɩ ka wʋnɩ tɩn. Kʋntʋ, á laan wʋ́ ta yɩ Wɛ kaanɩm tiinǝ, yɩ á na wʋ́ ta kaanɩ-DƖ te tɩn mʋ yɩ sɩ á taá zuli-DƖ dɩ á bɩcara maama, yɩ kʋ poli DƖ wʋ á na ŋwɩ dɩ Zezi Krisi tɩn ŋwaanɩ.
5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Kʋ maŋɩ kʋ pʋpʋnɩ Wɛ tɔnɔ kʋm wʋnɩ kʋ wɩ:
6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
7 Kʋ na yɩ abam balʋ na kɩ á wʋ-dɩdʋa dɩd-o tɩn, o jɩgɩ kuri zanzan dɩ abam. Kʋ daarɩ, kʋ na yɩ balʋ na vɩ-o tɩn, kʋ nyɩ dɩ kʋ na pʋpʋnɩ Wɛ tɔnɔ kʋm wʋnɩ kʋ wɩ:
7 To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,
8 Kʋ na yɩ balʋ na vɩ-o tɩn, kʋ pʋpʋnɩ kʋ wɩ:
8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 Kʋ daarɩ kʋ na yɩ abam,
9 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 Abam dɛɛn ya daɩ Wɛ nɔɔna, yɩ á laan ba á ji DƖ nɔɔna. Abam dɛɛn ya daɩ balʋ Wɛ na jɩgɩ á ŋwaŋa tɩn, yɩ DƖ laan ba DƖ duri á ŋwaŋa.
10 who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
11 A badon-sonnu-ba, abam na yɩ vǝrǝ lʋgʋ baŋa nɩ yɩ á ba jɩgɩ kugu je tɩn, a loori abam sɩ á ja á tɩtɩ dɩ á fra na zʋʋrɩ lʋgʋ baŋa wo-yɔɔrʋ tɩlʋ tɩn. Tɩntʋ mʋ kwaanɩ sɩ tɩ cɔgɩ á ŋwɩa.
11 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Á pa-na á kikiǝ maama taa lana balʋ na ba tɔgɩ Wɛ tɩn tɩtarɩ nɩ. Kʋntʋ mʋ, ba na yáalɩ abam ba wɩ á yɩ wo-lwaanʋ kǝrǝ, ba laan wʋ́ ba ba lwarɩ á kǝm-laarʋ na yɩ te tɩn, yɩ ba daarɩ ba zuli Wɛ maŋa kalʋ DƖ na lagɩ DƖ ba tɩn.
12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
14 — ausente —
14 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15 Wɛ wʋbʋŋa na lagɩ te tɩn mʋ yɩ sɩ á pa á kikiǝ taa lana, sɩ kʋ wanɩ kʋ pa nɔn-jwǝǝru pu ba niǝ dɩ ba bɩtar-yɔɔrʋ tɩlʋ ba na ŋɔɔnɩ abam baŋa nɩ tɩn.
15 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
16 Abam yɩ balʋ na te á tɩtɩ tɩn mʋ, yɩ á ŋwɩa kam maŋɩ sɩ ka taa yɩ kʋntʋ doŋ mʋ. Á nan yɩ tɔgɩ kʋntʋ ŋwaanɩ á bʋŋɩ nɩ á jɩgɩ cwǝŋǝ sɩ á kɩ kǝm-balwaarʋ. Á nan pa-na á kikiǝ taa lana, á na yɩ Wɛ tɩntʋŋna tɩn ŋwaanɩ.
16 as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
17 Á taá zuli nɔɔna maama.
17 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 Abam balʋ na yɩ tɩntʋŋna tɩn maŋɩ sɩ á taá sɛ á yum tiinǝ niǝ, sɩ á taá nɩgɩ-ba lanyɩranɩ, kʋ na yɩ balʋ na jɩgɩ wʋ-bono yɩ ba kɩ abam lanyɩranɩ, naa kʋ zɩ yɩ balʋ kǝm na cana dɩ abam tɩn dɩ.
18 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 Ba na yaarɩ abam vwan yaara á na sɛ Wɛ tɩn ŋwaanɩ yɩ á vɔ pu-dɩa, kʋntʋ yɩ kʋlʋ na lana tɩn Wɛ yigǝ nɩ.
19 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 Abam nan na kɩ balɔrɔ yɩ ba vaŋɩ á zwɛ kʋ ŋwaanɩ, yɩ á na maŋɩ á vɔ á wʋ dɩ yaara yam kʋntʋ dɩ, kʋ jɩgɩ kuri na? Kʋ daarɩ á na kɩ lanyɩranɩ yɩ ba ta yaarɩ abam, yɩ á na vɔgɩ á wʋ, kʋntʋ lana Wɛ yigǝ nɩ.
20 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
21 Wɛ na bǝŋi abam sɩ á taá tɔgɩ-DƖ tɩn, kʋ yɩ sɩ á vɔ á wʋ mʋ yaara wʋnɩ. Zezi Krisi tɩtɩ dɛɛn maŋɩ o yaarɩ abam ŋwaanɩ, sɩ kʋ pa á taá tɔgɩ o na-bwǝrǝ mʋ á lwǝni o dɛɛn na kɩ te tɩn:
21 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 Wʋntʋ nan wʋ kɩ lwarɩm dɩ fɩnfɩɩn dɩ,
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 Nɔɔna dɛɛn maa jɩg-o ba twɩa,
23 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 Zezi Krisi mʋ joŋi dɩbam lwarɩm o tɩ tʋʋn-daa yuu nɩ dɩbam ŋwaanɩ. O kɩ kʋntʋ sɩ kʋ pa lwarɩm daa mʋ yɩ taa te dɩbam. Kʋntʋ, kʋ na yɩ lwarɩm jǝgǝ nɩ, dɩbam nyɩ nɩ twa mʋ te, yɩ dɩ́ laan daarɩ dɩ́ taá jɩgɩ ŋwɩa kalʋ na tɔgɩ cɩga tɩn Wɛ yigǝ nɩ. Ba na pogili Zezi yɩra yam tʋʋn-dagara baŋa nɩ tɩn mʋ pɛ abam na yazurǝ.
24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25 Abam ya nyɩ dɩ peeni sɩlʋ na je tɩn mʋ. Á laan ma joori á ba á kɩ á tɩtɩ Zezi jɩŋa nɩ, wʋlʋ na yɩ abam nayɩrʋ yɩ o nii abam baŋa nɩ tɩn.
25 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
