1 Also Helyu addide, and spak these thingis,
1 Eliú seguiu falando e disse:
2 Suffre thou me a litil, and Y schal schewe to thee; for yit Y haue that, that Y schal speke for God.
2 “Mais um pouco de paciência, e eu lhe mostrarei que tenho mais argumentos a favor de Deus.
3 Y schal reherse my kunnyng fro the bigynnyng; and Y schal preue my worchere iust.
3 Trarei o meu conhecimento de longe e atribuirei a justiça ao meu Criador.
4 For verili my wordis ben with out leesyng, and perfit kunnyng schal be preued to thee.
4 Porque, na verdade, as minhas palavras não são falsas; quem está diante de você é senhor do assunto.”
5 God castith not awei myyti men, sithen he is myyti;
5 “Eis que Deus é grande e não despreza ninguém; ele é grande na força da sua compreensão.
6 but he saueth not wickid men, and he yyueth dom to pore men.
6 Não poupa a vida do ímpio, mas faz justiça aos aflitos.
7 He takith not awei hise iyen fro a iust man; and he settith kyngis in seete with out ende, and thei ben reisid there.
7 Deus não tira os seus olhos dos justos; pelo contrário, os assenta no trono com os reis, para sempre, e eles são exaltados.
8 And if thei ben in chaynes, and ben boundun with the roopis of pouert,

9 he schal shewe to hem her werkis, and her grete trespassis; for thei weren violent, `ethir rauenours.

10 Also he schal opene her eere, that he chastise; and he schal speke, that thei turne ayen fro wickidnesse.
10 Abre-lhes também os ouvidos para a instrução e ordena que se convertam da iniquidade.
11 If thei heren, and kepen, thei schulen fille her daies in good, and her yeris in glorie.
11 Se o ouvirem e o servirem, acabarão os seus dias em felicidade e os seus anos em delícias.
12 Sotheli if thei heren not, thei schulen passe bi swerd, and thei schulen be wastid in foli.
12 Porém, se não o ouvirem, serão passados pela espada e morrerão na sua cegueira.”
13 Feyneris and false men stiren the ire of God; and thei schulen not crye, whanne thei ben boundun.
13 “Os ímpios de coração alimentam a ira; e, quando são aprisionados por Deus, não clamam pedindo socorro.
14 The soule of hem schal die in tempest; and the lijf of hem among `men of wymmens condiciouns.
14 Perdem a vida na sua mocidade e morrem entre os prostitutos cultuais.
15 He schal delyuere a pore man fro his angwisch; and he schal opene `the eere of hym in tribulacioun.
15 Deus livra o aflito por meio da sua aflição e pelo sofrimento lhe abre os ouvidos.”
16 Therfor he schal saue thee fro the streit mouth of the broddeste tribulacioun, and not hauynge a foundement vndur it; sotheli the rest of thi table schal be ful of fatnesse.
16 “Assim também a você Deus procura tirar da angústia e levar para um lugar espaçoso, em que não há aperto, e para o conforto de uma mesa cheia de comida saborosa.
17 Thi cause is demed as the cause of a wickid man; forsothe thou schalt resseyue thi cause and doom.
17 Mas você se enche do juízo do perverso, e, por isso, o juízo e a justiça o alcançarão.
18 Therfor ire ouercome thee not, that thou oppresse ony man; and the multitude of yiftis bowe thee not.
18 Tenha cuidado para que a ira não o leve a zombar, nem permita que a grande quantia do resgate o desvie.
19 Putte doun thi greetnesse with out tribulacioun, and putte doun alle stronge men bi strengthe.
19 Será que ele levaria em conta as suas lamúrias e todos os seus grandes esforços, para que você se veja livre da sua angústia?
20 Dilaie thou not nyyt, that puplis stie for hem.
20 Não suspire pela noite, em que povos serão tirados do seu lugar.
21 Be thou war, that thou bowe not to wickidnesse; for thou hast bigunne to sue this wickidnesse aftir wretchidnesse.
21 Cuidado! Não se incline para a iniquidade, você parece preferir a iniquidade à sua miséria.”
22 Lo! God is hiy in his strengthe, and noon is lijk hym among the yyueris of lawe.
22 “Eis que Deus se mostra grande em seu poder! Quem é mestre como ele?
23 Who mai seke out the weies of God? ethir who dar seie to hym, Thou hast wrouyt wickidnesse?
23 Quem lhe prescreveu o seu caminho ou quem pode lhe dizer: ‘Cometeste uma injustiça’?
24 Haue thou mynde, that thou knowist not his werk, of whom men sungun.
24 Lembre-se de exaltar as obras de Deus, que as pessoas celebram.
25 Alle men seen God; ech man biholdith afer.
25 Toda a humanidade olha para elas; as pessoas as contemplam de longe.
26 Lo! God is greet, ouercomynge oure kunnyng; the noumbre of hise yeeris is with out noumbre.
26 Eis que Deus é grande, e não o podemos compreender; o número dos seus anos não se pode calcular.”
27 Which takith awei the dropis of reyn; and schedith out reynes at the licnesse of floodyatis,
27 “Ele atrai para si as gotas de água que de seu vapor destilam em chuva,
28 whiche comen doun of the cloudis, that hilen alle thingis aboue.
28 a qual as nuvens derramam e gotejam sobre a terra em grande abundância.
29 If he wole stretche forthe cloudis as his tente,
29 Pode alguém entender como ele estende as nuvens e como os trovões ecoam em sua tenda?
30 and leite with his liyt fro aboue, he schal hile, yhe,
30 Eis que ele espalha sobre elas o seu relâmpago e encobre as profundezas do mar.
31 the herris of the see. For bi these thingis he demeth puplis, and yyueth mete to many deedli men.
31 Pois por estas coisas ele julga os povos e lhes dá alimento em abundância.
32 In hondis he hidith liyt; and comaundith it, that it come eft.
32 Enche as mãos de relâmpagos e os arremessa contra o adversário.
33 He tellith of it to his freend, that it is his possessioun; and that he may stie to it.
33 O fragor da tempestade dá notícias a respeito dele, dele que é zeloso na sua ira contra a injustiça.”
