1 Also Helyu addide, and spak these thingis,
1 Prosseguiu também Eliú, e disse:
2 Suffre thou me a litil, and Y schal schewe to thee; for yit Y haue that, that Y schal speke for God.
2 Espera-me um pouco, e mostrar-te-ei que eu ainda tenho o que falar em favor de Deus.
3 Y schal reherse my kunnyng fro the bigynnyng; and Y schal preue my worchere iust.
3 Eu trarei o meu conhecimento de longe; e atribuirei justiça ao meu Criador.
4 For verili my wordis ben with out leesyng, and perfit kunnyng schal be preued to thee.
4 Porque, verdadeiramente, as minhas palavras não serão falsas; aquele que é perfeito em conhecimento está contigo.
5 God castith not awei myyti men, sithen he is myyti;
5 Eis que Deus é poderoso, e não despreza ninguém; ele é poderoso em força e sabedoria.
6 but he saueth not wickid men, and he yyueth dom to pore men.
6 Ele não preserva a vida do perverso, mas dá o direito ao pobre.
7 He takith not awei hise iyen fro a iust man; and he settith kyngis in seete with out ende, and thei ben reisid there.
7 Ele não tira os seus olhos do justo; mas com reis estão eles sobre o trono; sim, ele os estabelece para sempre, e eles são exaltados.
8 And if thei ben in chaynes, and ben boundun with the roopis of pouert,
8 E se eles estiverem ligados a grilhões, e presos com cordas de aflição,
9 he schal shewe to hem her werkis, and her grete trespassis; for thei weren violent, `ethir rauenours.
9 então ele lhes mostra as suas obras, e as suas transgressões, com as quais se excederam.
10 Also he schal opene her eere, that he chastise; and he schal speke, that thei turne ayen fro wickidnesse.
10 Ele também lhes abre os ouvidos à disciplina, e comanda que eles retornem da iniquidade.
11 If thei heren, and kepen, thei schulen fille her daies in good, and her yeris in glorie.
11 Se eles o obedecerem e o servirem, passarão seus dias em prosperidade, e os seus anos em prazeres.
12 Sotheli if thei heren not, thei schulen passe bi swerd, and thei schulen be wastid in foli.
12 Mas se eles não obedecerem, perecerão pela espada, e morrerão sem conhecimento.
13 Feyneris and false men stiren the ire of God; and thei schulen not crye, whanne thei ben boundun.
13 Mas os hipócritas de coração amontoam a ira; eles não clamam quando ele os amarra.
14 The soule of hem schal die in tempest; and the lijf of hem among `men of wymmens condiciouns.
14 Eles morrem na juventude, e sua vida está entre os imundos.
15 He schal delyuere a pore man fro his angwisch; and he schal opene `the eere of hym in tribulacioun.
15 Ele livra o pobre de sua aflição, e abre seus ouvidos na opressão.
16 Therfor he schal saue thee fro the streit mouth of the broddeste tribulacioun, and not hauynge a foundement vndur it; sotheli the rest of thi table schal be ful of fatnesse.
16 Ainda assim ele teria te removido do lugar estreito para um lugar amplo, onde não há aperto, e o que se colocaria na tua mesa, estaria cheio de gordura.
17 Thi cause is demed as the cause of a wickid man; forsothe thou schalt resseyue thi cause and doom.
17 Mas tu cumpriste o julgamento do perverso; julgamento e justiça tomam conta de ti.
18 Therfor ire ouercome thee not, that thou oppresse ony man; and the multitude of yiftis bowe thee not.
18 Porquanto há ira, cuidado para que ele não te leve embora com seu golpe; porquanto nem um grande resgate te livrará.
19 Putte doun thi greetnesse with out tribulacioun, and putte doun alle stronge men bi strengthe.
19 Estimará ele tuas riquezas? Não, nem ouro, nem todas as forças do poder.
20 Dilaie thou not nyyt, that puplis stie for hem.
20 Não desejes a noite, quando as pessoas são cortadas de seus lugares.
21 Be thou war, that thou bowe not to wickidnesse; for thou hast bigunne to sue this wickidnesse aftir wretchidnesse.
21 Tome cuidado, não consideres a iniquidade; porque isso escolheste ao invés da aflição.
22 Lo! God is hiy in his strengthe, and noon is lijk hym among the yyueris of lawe.
22 Eis que Deus exalta pelo seu poder; quem ensina como ele?
23 Who mai seke out the weies of God? ethir who dar seie to hym, Thou hast wrouyt wickidnesse?
23 Quem lhe ordenou o seu caminho? Ou quem pode dizer: Tu forjaste iniquidade?
24 Haue thou mynde, that thou knowist not his werk, of whom men sungun.
24 Lembra-te de magnificar a sua obra, que os homens contemplam.
25 Alle men seen God; ech man biholdith afer.
25 Todos os homens a veem; o homem a contempla de longe.
26 Lo! God is greet, ouercomynge oure kunnyng; the noumbre of hise yeeris is with out noumbre.
26 Eis que Deus é grande, e nós não o conhecemos, nem pode o número de seus anos ser esquadrinhado.
27 Which takith awei the dropis of reyn; and schedith out reynes at the licnesse of floodyatis,
27 Porque ele faz pequenas as gotas da água, eles derramam a chuva de acordo com o seu vapor;
28 whiche comen doun of the cloudis, that hilen alle thingis aboue.
28 que as nuvens gotejam e destilam sobre o homem abundantemente.
29 If he wole stretche forthe cloudis as his tente,
29 Também, pode alguém entender as exibições das nuvens, ou o barulho de seu tabernáculo?
30 and leite with his liyt fro aboue, he schal hile, yhe,
30 Eis que ele estende a sua luz sobre elas, e cobre o fundo do mar.
31 the herris of the see. For bi these thingis he demeth puplis, and yyueth mete to many deedli men.
31 Porque por estas coisas julga as pessoas; ele dá alimento em abundância.
32 In hondis he hidith liyt; and comaundith it, that it come eft.
32 Com as nuvens encobre a luz, e comanda que ela não brilhe por entre a nuvem.
33 He tellith of it to his freend, that it is his possessioun; and that he may stie to it.
33 O barulho anuncia a tempestade, assim como o gado percebe pelo vapor.
