1 The title of the eiythe salm. To the ouercomere, for pressours, the salm of Dauid.
1 Ao mestre de canto. Com a gitiena. Salmo de Davi. Ó Senhor, nosso Deus, como é glorioso vosso nome em toda a terra! Vossa majestade se estende, triunfante, por cima de todos os céus.
2 Lord, thou art oure Lord; thi name is ful wonderful in al erthe. For thi greet doyng is reisid, aboue heuenes.
2 Da boca das crianças e dos pequeninos sai um louvor que confunde vossos adversários, e reduz ao silêncio vossos inimigos.
3 Of the mouth of yonge children, not spekynge and soukynge mylk, thou madist perfitli heriyng, for thin enemyes; that thou destrie the enemy and avengere.
3 Quando contemplo o firmamento, obra de vossos dedos, a lua e as estrelas que lá fixastes:
4 For Y schal se thin heuenes, the werkis of thi fyngris; the moone and sterris, whiche thou hast foundid.
4 Que é o homem, digo-me então, para pensardes nele? Que são os filhos de Adão, para que vos ocupeis com eles?
5 What is a man, that thou art myndeful of hym; ethir the sone of a virgyn, for thou visitist hym?
5 Entretanto, vós o fizestes quase igual aos anjos, de glória e honra o coroastes.
6 Thou hast maad hym a litil lesse than aungels; thou hast corouned hym with glorie and onour,
6 Destes-lhe poder sobre as obras de vossas mãos, vós lhe submetestes todo o universo.
7 and hast ordeyned hym aboue the werkis of thin hondis.
7 Rebanhos e gados, e até os animais bravios,
8 Thou hast maad suget alle thingis vndur hise feet; alle scheep and oxis, ferthermore and the beestis of the feeld;
8 pássaros do céu e peixes do mar, tudo o que se move nas águas do oceano.
9 the briddis of the eir, and the fischis of the see; that passen bi the pathis of the see.
