1 In the thridde monethe of the goyng `of Israel out of the lond of Egipt, in this dai thei camen in to the wildirnesse of Synai;
1 Exatamente dois meses depois de saírem do Egito, chegaram ao deserto do Sinai.
2 for thei yeden forth fro Rafidym, and camen til in to deseert of Synai, and settiden tentis in the same place; and there Israel settide tentis, euen ayens the hil.
2 Depois de levantar acampamento em Refidim, chegaram ao deserto do Sinai e acamparam ao pé do monte.
3 Forsothe Moises stiede in to the hil to God; and the Lord clepide hym fro the mount, and seide, Thou schalt seie these thingis to the hows of Jacob, and thou schalt telle to the sones of Israel,
3 Então Moisés subiu ao monte para apresentar-se diante de Deus. Lá de cima, o S enhor o chamou e disse: “Transmita esta mensagem à família de Jacó; anuncie-a aos descendentes de Israel:
4 Ye silf han seyn what thingis Y haue do to Egipcians, how Y bar you on the wengis of eglis, and took to me.
4 ‘Vocês viram o que fiz aos egípcios. Sabem como carreguei vocês sobre asas de águias e os trouxe para mim.
5 Therfor if ye schulen here my vois, and schulen kepe my couenaunt, ye schulen be to me in to a specialte of alle puplis; for al the lond is myn;
5 Agora, se me obedecerem e cumprirem minha aliança, serão meu tesouro especial dentre todos os povos da terra, pois toda a terra me pertence.
6 and ye schulen be to me in to a rewme of preesthod, and `ye schulen be an hooli folk; these ben the wordis whiche thou schalt speke to the sones of Israel.
6 Serão meu reino de sacerdotes, minha nação santa’. Essa é a mensagem que você deve transmitir ao povo de Israel”.
7 Moyses cam, and whanne the gretter men in birthe of the puple weren clepid to gidere, he expownede alle the wordis whiche the Lord comaundide.
7 Moisés voltou do monte, convocou os líderes do povo e lhes comunicou tudo que o S enhor havia ordenado.
8 And alle the puple answeride to gidere, We schulen do alle thingis whiche the Lord spak. And whanne Moises hadde teld the wordis of the puple to the Lord,
8 Todo o povo respondeu a uma só voz: “Faremos tudo que o S enhor ordenou!”. E Moisés comunicou ao S enhor a resposta do povo.
9 the Lord seide to hym, Riyt now Y schal come to thee in a derknesse of a cloude, that the puple here me spekynge to thee, and bileue to thee withouten ende. Therfor Moises telde the wordis of the puple to the Lord,
9 O S enhor disse a Moisés: “Virei até você numa nuvem densa, para que o povo me ouça quando eu lhe falar e, assim, confie sempre em você”. Moisés relatou ao S
10 which seide to Moises, Go thou to the puple, and make hem holi to dai and to morewe, and waische thei her clothis,
10 Então o S enhor disse a Moisés: “Desça e consagre o povo, hoje e amanhã. Providencie que eles lavem suas roupas
11 and be thei redi in to the thridde dai; for in the thridde dai the Lord schal come doun bifore al the puple on the hil of Synai.
11 e estejam prontos no terceiro dia, pois nesse dia o S enhor descerá sobre o monte Sinai à vista de todos.
12 And thou schalt sette termes to the puple, bi cumpas; and thou schalt seie to hem, Be ye war, that ye `stie not in to the hil, nether touche ye the endis therof; ech man that schal touche the hil, schal die bi deeth.
12 Marque um limite ao redor de todo o monte e avise o povo: ‘Tenham cuidado! Não subam ao monte, nem mesmo toquem o limite. Quem tocar o monte certamente será morto.
13 Hondis schulen not touche hym, but he schal be oppressid with stoonus, ethir he shall be persid with dartis; whether it schal be a beest, ethir a man, it schal not lyue; whanne a clarioun schal bigynne to sowne, thanne `stie thei in to the hil.
13 Ninguém ponha a mão na pessoa ou no animal que ultrapassar o limite; antes, apedreje-o ou atravesse-o com flechas. Quem cruzar o limite não poderá continuar a viver’. Mas, quando soar o toque longo da trombeta, o povo poderá subir ao monte”.
14 And Moises cam doun fro the hil to the puple, and halewide it; and whanne thei hadden waischun her clothis,
14 Moisés desceu do monte e foi até onde o povo estava. Ele os consagrou, providenciou que lavassem suas roupas
15 he seide to hem, Be ye redi in to the thridde dai, neiye ye not to youre wyues.
15 e lhes disse: “Preparem-se para o terceiro dia e, até lá, não tenham relações sexuais”.
16 And now the thridde day was comun, and the morewetid was cleer; and, lo! thundris bigunnen to be herd, and leitis to schyne, and a moost thicke cloude to hile the mounteyn; and `the sownyng of a clarioun made noise ful greetli, and the puple dredde, that was in the castels.
16 Na manhã do terceiro dia, houve estrondo de trovões e clarão de raios, e uma nuvem densa envolveu o monte. Um toque longo de trombeta ressoou, e todo o povo que estava no acampamento tremeu.
17 And whanne Moises hadde led hem out in to the comyng of God, fro the place of castels, thei stoden at the rootis of the hil.
17 Moisés conduziu o povo para fora do acampamento, ao encontro de Deus, e todos pararam ao pé do monte.
18 Forsothe al the hil of Synai smokide, for the Lord hadde come doun theronne in fier; and smoke stiede therof as of a furneis, and al the hil was ferdful;
18 O monte Sinai estava todo coberto de fumaça, pois o S enhor havia descido em forma de fogo. Nuvens de fumaça subiam ao céu, como de uma imensa fornalha, e todo o monte tremia violentamente.
19 and the `sown of a clarioun encreesside litil and litil, and was holdun forth lengere. Moises spak, and the Lord answeride to hym,
19 Enquanto o barulho da trombeta aumentava, Moisés falava e Deus respondia com voz de trovão.
20 and the Lord cam doun on the hil of Synay, in thilke cop of the hil, and clepide Moises to the cop therof. And whanne he hadde stied thidur,
20 O S enhor desceu sobre o topo do Sinai e chamou Moisés para o alto do monte, e ele subiu.
21 the Lord seide to hym, Go thou doun, and witnesse thou to the puple, lest perauenture it wole passe the termes to se the Lord, and ful greet multitude therof perische;
21 Então o S enhor disse a Moisés: “Desça e alerte o povo que não ultrapasse o limite para ver o S enhor . Do contrário, muitos morrerão.
22 also preestis, that neiyen to the Lord, be halewid, lest Y smyte hem.
22 Até mesmo os sacerdotes, que se aproximam do S enhor , deverão purificar-se para que o S enhor não os destrua”.
23 And Moises seide to the Lord, The comyn puple may not stie in to the hil of Synai; for thou hast witnessid, and hast comaundid, seiyinge, Sette thou termes aboute the hil, and halewe it.
23 Moisés respondeu ao S enhor : “Mas o povo não pode subir ao monte Sinai. Tu já nos advertiste: ‘Marque um limite ao redor de todo o monte para separá-lo como lugar sagrado’”.
24 To whom the Lord seide, Go thou doun, and thou schalt stie, and Aaron with thee; forsothe the preestis and the puple passe not the termes, nethir stie thei to the Lord, lest perauenture he sle hem.
24 O S enhor , porém, disse: “Desça do monte e depois suba de novo, acompanhado de Arão. Enquanto isso, não permita que os sacerdotes nem o povo ultrapassem o limite para se aproximar do S enhor . Do contrário, ele os destruirá”.
25 Moises yede doun to the puple, and telde alle thingis to hem.
25 Moisés desceu até onde o povo estava e lhes comunicou o que tinha sido dito.
