1 Therfor be ye foloweris of God, as moost dereworthe sones;
1 Portanto, sejam imitadores de Deus, como filhos amados.
2 and walke ye in loue, as Crist louyde vs, and yaf hym silf for vs an offryng and a sacrifice to God, in to the odour of swetnesse.
2 E vivam em amor, como também Cristo nos amou e se entregou por nós, como oferta e sacrifício de aroma agradável a Deus.
3 And fornycacioun, and al vnclennesse, or aueryce, be not named among you, as it bicometh holi men;
3 Que a imoralidade sexual e toda impureza ou avareza não sejam nem sequer mencionadas entre vocês, como convém a santos.
4 ethir filthe, or foli speche, or harlatrye, that perteyneth not to profit, but more doyng of thankyngis.
4 Não usem linguagem grosseira, não digam coisas tolas nem indecentes, pois isso não convém; pelo contrário, digam palavras de ação de graças.
5 For wite ye this, and vndurstonde, that ech letchour, or vnclene man, or coueytouse, that serueth to mawmetis, hath not eritage in the kingdom of Crist and of God.
5 Fiquem sabendo disto: nenhuma pessoa imoral, impura ou avarenta — porque a avareza é idolatria — tem herança no Reino de Cristo e de Deus.
6 No man disseyue you bi veyn wordis; for whi for these thingis the wraththe of God cam on the sones of vnbileue.
6 Não se deixem enganar com palavras vazias, porque a ira de Deus vem sobre os filhos da desobediência por causa dessas coisas.
7 Therfor nyle ye be maad parteneris of hem.
7 Portanto, não participem daquilo que eles fazem.
8 For ye weren sum tyme derknessis, but now `ye ben liyt in the Lord. Walke ye as the sones of liyt.
8 Porque no passado vocês eram trevas, mas agora são luz no Senhor. Vivam como filhos da luz
9 For the fruyt of liyt is in al goodnesse, and riytwisnesse, and treuthe.
9 — porque o fruto da luz consiste em toda bondade, justiça e verdade —,
10 And preue ye what `thing is wel plesynge to God.
10 tratando de descobrir o que é agradável ao Senhor.
11 And nyle ye comyne to vnfruytouse werkis of derknessis; but more repreue ye.
11 E não sejam cúmplices nas obras infrutíferas das trevas; pelo contrário, tratem de reprová-las.
12 For what thingis ben don of hem in priuy, it is foule, yhe, to speke.
12 Pois aquilo que eles fazem em segredo é vergonhoso até mencionar.
13 And alle thingis that ben repreuyd of the liyt, ben opynli schewid; for al thing that is schewid, is liyt.
13 Mas todas as coisas, quando reprovadas pela luz, se tornam manifestas; porque tudo o que se manifesta é luz.
14 For which thing he seith, Rise thou that slepist, and rise vp fro deth, and Crist schal liytne thee.
14 Por isso é que se diz: “Desperte, você que está dormindo, levante-se dentre os mortos, e Cristo o iluminará.”
15 Therfor, britheren, se ye, hou warli ye schulen go;
15 Portanto, tenham cuidado com a maneira como vocês vivem, e vivam não como tolos, mas como sábios,
16 not as vnwise men, but as wise men, ayenbiynge tyme, for the daies ben yuele.
16 aproveitando bem o tempo, porque os dias são maus.
17 Therfor nyle ye be maad vnwise, but vndurstondynge which is the wille of God.
17 Por esta razão, não sejam insensatos, mas procurem compreender qual é a vontade do Senhor.
18 And nyle ye be drunkun of wyn, in which is letcherie, but be ye fillid with the Hooli Goost; and speke ye to you silf in salmes,
18 E não se embriaguem com vinho, pois isso leva à devassidão, mas deixem-se encher do Espírito,
19 and ymnes, and spiritual songis, syngynge and seiynge salm in youre hertis to the Lord;
19 falando entre vocês com salmos, hinos e cânticos espirituais, cantando e louvando com o coração ao Senhor,
20 euermore doynge thankingis for alle thingis in the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist to God and to the fadir.
20 dando sempre graças por tudo a nosso Deus e Pai, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
21 Be ye suget togidere in the drede of Crist.
21 Sujeitem-se uns aos outros no temor de Cristo.
22 Wymmen, be thei suget to her hosebondis,
22 Esposas, que cada uma de vocês se sujeite a seu próprio marido, como ao Senhor;
23 as to the Lord, for the man is heed of the wymman, as Crist is heed of the chirche; he is sauyour of his bodi.
23 porque o marido é o cabeça da esposa, como também Cristo é o cabeça da igreja, sendo ele próprio o salvador do corpo.
24 But as the chirche is suget to Crist, so wymmen to her hosebondis in alle thingis.
24 Como, porém, a igreja está sujeita a Cristo, assim também a esposa se sujeite em tudo ao seu próprio marido.
25 Men, loue ye youre wyues, as Crist louyde the chirche, and yaf hym silf for it, to make it holi;
25 Maridos, que cada um de vocês ame a sua esposa, como também Cristo amou a igreja e se entregou por ela,
26 and clenside it with the waisching of watir, in the word of lijf,
26 para que a santificasse, tendo-a purificado por meio da lavagem de água pela palavra,
27 to yyue the chirche gloriouse to hym silf, that it hadde no wem, ne ryueling, or ony siche thing, but that it be hooli and vndefoulid.
27 para a apresentar a si mesmo como igreja gloriosa, sem mancha, nem ruga, nem coisa semelhante, porém santa e sem defeito.
28 So and men `schulen loue her wyues, as her owne bodies. He that loueth his wijf, loueth hym silf;
28 Assim também o marido deve amar a sua esposa como ama o próprio corpo. Quem ama a esposa ama a si mesmo.
29 for no man hatide euere his owne fleisch, but nurischith and fostrith it, as Crist doith the chirche.
29 Porque ninguém jamais odiou o seu próprio corpo. Ao contrário, o alimenta e cuida dele, como também Cristo faz com a igreja;
30 And we ben membris of his bodi, of his fleisch, and of his boonys.
30 porque somos membros do seu corpo.
31 For this thing a man schal forsake his fadir and modir, and he schal drawe to his wijf; and thei schulen be tweyne in o fleisch.
31 Eis por que “o homem deixará o seu pai e a sua mãe e se unirá à sua mulher, tornando-se os dois uma só carne”.
32 This sacrament is greet; yhe, Y seie in Crist, and in the chirche.
32 Grande é este mistério, mas eu me refiro a Cristo e à igreja.
33 Netheles ye alle, ech man loue his wijf as hym silf; and the wijf drede hir hosebonde.
33 No entanto, também quanto a vocês, que cada um ame a própria esposa como a si mesmo, e que a esposa respeite o seu marido.
