1 Therfor be ye foloweris of God, as moost dereworthe sones;
1 Sede, pois, seguidores de Deus, como filhos queridos;
2 and walke ye in loue, as Crist louyde vs, and yaf hym silf for vs an offryng and a sacrifice to God, in to the odour of swetnesse.
2 e andai em amor, como também Cristo nos amou, e se entregou a si mesmo por nós, em oferta e sacrifício a Deus, em cheiro suave.
3 And fornycacioun, and al vnclennesse, or aueryce, be not named among you, as it bicometh holi men;
3 Mas a fornicação e toda impureza ou avareza nem ainda se nomeiem entre vós, como convém a santos;
4 ethir filthe, or foli speche, or harlatrye, that perteyneth not to profit, but more doyng of thankyngis.
4 nem imundícia, nem conversas tolas, nem gracejos, que não convêm; mas, antes, ações de graças.
5 For wite ye this, and vndurstonde, that ech letchour, or vnclene man, or coueytouse, that serueth to mawmetis, hath not eritage in the kingdom of Crist and of God.
5 Porque bem sabeis isto: que nenhum devasso, ou pessoa impura, ou homem avarento, o qual é idolatra, tem herança alguma no reino de Cristo e de Deus.
6 No man disseyue you bi veyn wordis; for whi for these thingis the wraththe of God cam on the sones of vnbileue.
6 Ninguém vos engane com palavras vãs; porque por essas coisas vem a ira de Deus sobre os filhos da desobediência.
7 Therfor nyle ye be maad parteneris of hem.
7 Portanto, não sejais participantes com eles.
8 For ye weren sum tyme derknessis, but now `ye ben liyt in the Lord. Walke ye as the sones of liyt.
8 Porque, noutro tempo, éreis trevas, mas agora sois luz no Senhor; andai como filhos da luz,
9 For the fruyt of liyt is in al goodnesse, and riytwisnesse, and treuthe.
9 (pois o fruto do Espírito está em toda bondade, e justiça, e verdade),
10 And preue ye what `thing is wel plesynge to God.
10 aprovando o que é aceitável ao Senhor.
11 And nyle ye comyne to vnfruytouse werkis of derknessis; but more repreue ye.
11 E não tenhais comunhão com as obras infrutíferas das trevas, mas, antes, reprovai-as.
12 For what thingis ben don of hem in priuy, it is foule, yhe, to speke.
12 Porque até falar destas coisas que são feitas por eles em secreto é vergonha.
13 And alle thingis that ben repreuyd of the liyt, ben opynli schewid; for al thing that is schewid, is liyt.
13 Mas todas as coisas que são reprovadas, são manifestadas pela luz: Pois tudo o que manifesta é luz.
14 For which thing he seith, Rise thou that slepist, and rise vp fro deth, and Crist schal liytne thee.
14 Pelo que ele diz: Desperta, ó tu que dormes, e levanta-te dentre os mortos, e Cristo te dará a luz.
15 Therfor, britheren, se ye, hou warli ye schulen go;
15 Portanto, vede prudentemente como andais, não como tolos, mas como sábios,
16 not as vnwise men, but as wise men, ayenbiynge tyme, for the daies ben yuele.
16 remindo o tempo, porque os dias são maus.
17 Therfor nyle ye be maad vnwise, but vndurstondynge which is the wille of God.
17 Por isso não sejais insensatos, mas entendei qual seja a vontade do Senhor.
18 And nyle ye be drunkun of wyn, in which is letcherie, but be ye fillid with the Hooli Goost; and speke ye to you silf in salmes,
18 E não vos embriagueis com vinho, no qual há excesso, mas enchei-vos do Espírito;
19 and ymnes, and spiritual songis, syngynge and seiynge salm in youre hertis to the Lord;
19 falando entre vós com salmos, e hinos, e cânticos espirituais, cantando e louvando ao Senhor no vosso coração,
20 euermore doynge thankingis for alle thingis in the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist to God and to the fadir.
20 dando sempre graças por todas as coisas a Deus e Pai, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,
21 Be ye suget togidere in the drede of Crist.
21 sujeitando-vos uns aos outros no temor de Deus.
22 Wymmen, be thei suget to her hosebondis,
22 Esposas, submetam-se aos seus maridos, como ao Senhor.
23 as to the Lord, for the man is heed of the wymman, as Crist is heed of the chirche; he is sauyour of his bodi.
23 Porque o marido é a cabeça da esposa, como também Cristo é a cabeça da igreja, sendo ele próprio o salvador do corpo.
24 But as the chirche is suget to Crist, so wymmen to her hosebondis in alle thingis.
24 Portanto, assim como a igreja está sujeita a Cristo, assim também as mulheres sejam em tudo sujeitas a seu marido.
25 Men, loue ye youre wyues, as Crist louyde the chirche, and yaf hym silf for it, to make it holi;
25 Maridos, amem suas esposas, assim como também Cristo amou a igreja e a si mesmo se entregou por ela,
26 and clenside it with the waisching of watir, in the word of lijf,
26 para a santificar, purificando-a com a lavagem da água, pela palavra,
27 to yyue the chirche gloriouse to hym silf, that it hadde no wem, ne ryueling, or ony siche thing, but that it be hooli and vndefoulid.
27 para a apresentar a si mesmo igreja gloriosa, sem mácula, ou ruga, ou coisa semelhante, mas santa e irrepreensível.
28 So and men `schulen loue her wyues, as her owne bodies. He that loueth his wijf, loueth hym silf;
28 Assim devem os maridos amar a sua própria esposa como a seu próprio corpo. Quem ama a sua esposa ama-se a si mesmo.
29 for no man hatide euere his owne fleisch, but nurischith and fostrith it, as Crist doith the chirche.
29 Porque nenhum homem detestou a sua própria carne; antes, a alimenta e sustenta, como também o Senhor à igreja;
30 And we ben membris of his bodi, of his fleisch, and of his boonys.
30 porque somos membros do seu corpo, da sua carne, e dos seus ossos.
31 For this thing a man schal forsake his fadir and modir, and he schal drawe to his wijf; and thei schulen be tweyne in o fleisch.
31 Por isso, o homem deixará seu pai e sua mãe e se unirá à sua esposa; e os dois serão uma só carne.
32 This sacrament is greet; yhe, Y seie in Crist, and in the chirche.
32 Este é um grande mistério; digo-o, porém, a respeito de Cristo e da igreja.
33 Netheles ye alle, ech man loue his wijf as hym silf; and the wijf drede hir hosebonde.
33 Assim também vós, cada um em particular ame a sua própria esposa como a si mesmo, e a esposa reverencie seu marido.
